These people have called and left messages for me more than a dozen times.  Every time they say they're with International Credit Recovery and are calling about a delinquent bill.  I traded voice mails with them several times before searching for Tiffany Jones and International Credit and finding this site.  These people are determined.  I'm amazed at how many attempts they've made to get in touch with me.  Every time they call they say my "debt" is about to go to collection and they really need to talk to me first.  Sleazy! Hope someone can do something about this.

Received the same call - the lady's name was Jamie, said she was in New York and was a collection agency trying to collect on an invoice that I sent back stating PLEASE CANCEL.  Jamie sounded like she definitely knew what to say and was firing back before I even had the chance to get my whole sentence out!  By the way, while she was trying to confuse me, she said she had confirmation from me because she had my date of birth and muttered out June something - she slipped up, because my birthday is not in June!  Passed her on to my boss.  She says they did the same thing to her last year!

I received all of the same calls from Cathy.   It's a clear scam.  We never ordered the newletter, never received a newletter and they have no proof of ordering beyond the Month and Day of the birthdate (which can be obtained lots of places unfortunately).
It's a interesting twist that they call back and ask for the boss or in my case the President of the company.   That's pretty agressive even for scammers like this.

Same phone call... same message from the creeps at International Credit Recovery...  The creep that I talked to went by the name of Laurie Appleton.  Demanded payment, told me this wasn't a game due to the fact that she had my date of birth as proof of the order... I requested that she fax to me the information she had, and she did...  Even had her return fax number on the cover sheet... So with that said, I've been faxing ICR the many scam articles, such as this one back to her all morning long...  As a matter of fact, it appears that Laurie has been mentioned in the many emails and comments... BTW... that fax number is (607) 748-6256...

I have received several calls from a gal named Valerie. Supposedly a staff member (who has absolutely no authorization rights within our company and is above reproach in this) authorized some publication to be sent for a 30 day trial (yes, she pulled the birthdate trick here too). This whole scenario she painted is just not true. When asked to supply actual proof of any kind this gal argued that she was not obligated to do so. In my experience and my CEO's experience this screamed SCAM every which way. And what do I find but tons of proof now that I am looking. Thank you.

SCAM SCAM SCAM.  What a lousy business practice--tricking people into accepting "free" subscriptions and then hitting them up months later to collect on the alleged "debt" owed.  Give me a break.

Summary of my experience:  Lyn Gregory called to say I had a magazine publication that went into collections b/c I didn't cancel during my free trial.  She refused to fax me anything but a bill.  And she wouldn't even fax me the bill until I told her I was going to pay.  She wouldn't even entertain the idea of sending me information on how to contest the charge... She told me that the only thing I could do at this point was to pay.  That there was no one I could talk to at the collection agency or at Progressive Business Publications (the esteemed publisher who apparently sent my name to collections in the first place) about contesting the charge.  After she told me I was being circular b/c I kept asking her to send me information on how to contest the charge, I politely asked her to send me information via mail and/or fax, thanked her for her time, and hung up the phone.

I received a call from Katie from International Credit Recovery, claiming I authorized a $299 subscription to an IT newsletter...which is ridiculous, as I'm a Federal IT Manager and get TONS of publications for free.  She claimed I authorized it with my name, birth date and had my direct phone number...like that's secret info or something.  Anyone could get that information...I'm turning this over to my corporate project manager and sending in a report to the Better Business Bureau and the JAG (if they want it)...I'm getting very tired of these phone calls.

I received a call from "Lynn Gregory" representing International Credit Recovery on behalf of Progressive Business Publications. I got the same call about a newsletter sent to my office that I consider junk mail. Most of the publication is copied from the net and is a waste of time. I also received a bogus invoice that was submitted to the AR department for payment so beware these crooks do their homework.

Same story, two months ago got phone calls from them and then found this site. Told them about it and that I thought they were a fraud, they hung up. Just now received call from different person, same polite sounding message as if I hadn't called them out in the past.

They are running out of people to harass at my company. This has been going on for almost a year. They claimed one of our employees signed a contract with them by giving them his birthdate.

After several harassing calls my boss finally told them that we weren't going to pay anything unless there was a signed contract. The phone calls stopped until. . .

Two months later, they call and specifically don't ask for my boss, so I end up speaking to them. The girl told me that she had a signed contract right in front of her (without me saying anything about a signed contract).  I told her to fax it to me, gave her our fax number and not surprisingly never received any fax.

About three months later, the girl (I assume it was the same girl) calls all pissed off and threatening. She of course knows nothing about a promise for a fax. (sure) She threatens me up and down, they're going to report us to some bureau. I finally get her off the phone.

Which brings us to today, about 2 months later. She calls and specifically doesn't ask for me or my boss. She asks for the original employee who supposedly ordered the newsletter. She threatened him up and down and got him to promise her an overnight check (awwwww, to bad I approve all checks here). She also promised to fax him a copy of the original invoice.

So he comes in my office all upset, (she really got to him). That was when I looked up and found this site and a long entry at ripoffreport.com .

I call the number back, switchboard girl answers. Switchboard girl "transfers" me to "Amanda" (ha, It should come as no surprise that they were obviously the same person)

I mention the fax that she promised our employee she runs off 3 different excuses, she was busy her secretary was out to lunch(sure) in one breath. I asked her if she had a recording of the original conversation with our employee when he authorized the subscription. She told me . . . I kid you not, "I doubt it", not "no" not "yes" . . . "I doubt it". I of course call her on it and realizing she screwed up she starts talking really fast (think ann coulter on speed) and tried to end the phone call.

I asked her to still fax the invoice (I want something to send out lawyers), and she refused to, saying why would she bother if I already said I wasn't going to pay it (ha).

I'm ready the next time "Amanda"/"Cathy"/"swithboard girl" calls us in a few months. I've told all of our employees to transfer any call from this number directly to me.  I'll be waiting . . .

I just wanted to clarify one thing after speaking to my employee, she had actually promised him a fax of signed documnets that prooved that we recieved their newsletters, not an invoice. This is of course another blatant lie as no such documents exist.

I got a call from the manager of a collection company stating that we owed $299 to a company called Progressive Business Publications.  I told her that we were not going to pay this bill and that I was going to report her to the Indiana Attorney Generals office and the BBB.  I am not paying them any money and you shouldn't either.  (Oh, and she said that she got confirmation for the order from an employee who was no doubt bullied into giving his birth date for the 'free trial' offer order confirmation.  As far as we know, we have never received any correspondance from them).

I haven't had the call yet but have had several invoices for $299 from Progressive Business Publications. Same story as everyone else here. When you call their numbe it is all automated and I can only leave a message wich I have done twice. This only makes me more angry. I am almost looking forward to the day that someone calls me so i can go off on them. Probably won't do any good but I'll sure feel better.
Any tips on what to do?

ARGH! How aggrivating is this company?! Our Company also has received this scam call from a "Chris Bennett". They tried to pull the same bs as saying that the person who subscribed even gave their birth date as confirmation. Luckily I saw this website and could grill him when he called. I asked him to give me Progressive Business Publications telephone number and that I would directly call them, he said he didn't have it. I said, how can you collect for a company when you don't even have their telephone number. I explained how I felt this was a scam especially with all the comments I found when I googled. He said, do you believe everything you Google? I said yes, when I see over 50 posting that say the same thing. I told him I would search out Progressive directly and deal with them. We'll see if he calls back. As if we don't have better things to do with our time.

Oh! and addition to my note above...the phone number they gave was 607-478-4686, but the number that came up on my caller ID was 607-748-1688. I have't tried the later yet, because I'm waiting to calm down....but who knows...maybe its his home number! =) All I know is he was insistent that I call him back on the 4686 number.

After doing research, I found this number for Progressive Business Publications in PA. its hidden at the bottom of their web page: 800-220-5000. I just spoke with Peggy (extention #219) who said she will be faxing me over the email confirmations and invoices that was sent to one of our employees directly. We shall see what that brings...but at least you have a number...and supposidely a person now. Good luck!
