I received a call from a man stating his name was Gary Thomas from the Crime Prevention Dept, looking for my ex-husband who supposedly owes money.  Who do we report this to and how is he getting cell phone numbers.  Thanks for all replies

Ive been getting calls for a week now and at first I almost paid them but then I said I will pay this fee once you provide me with the documents showing that you are a legit company. They said they sent it in email but it bounced back. So I said well when I get that info I will pay. So I asked for a call back number today and then put it in google and found this site. So then I told them dont call me back just take me to court.

Hey...... these people calling from INDIA, CHINA and other countries. where hundred of call centers are running for getting money by fraud from USA and UK citizens... ITS ALL SCAM...

How it runs..........(for debt collection)

It starts when people tries to get loan online, they fill all their personal detail on that sites and problem starts from this point. all your information is sold to collection agencies (call centers) at $4 to $6 / Person, whether you got that loan or not.

SO what actually they (Call Centers) do...

1. They have all of your information includes: your name, social security number, address, employment detail, 2 references and a detail of amount.( which you didn't get)

2. For dialing purpose call center gets USA or UK numbers. they calls through various softwares (like: ICALL). And have various phone numbers.

3.They hire college students or some people and prepare them to communicate with you. (training classes for getting a bit of American accent) and gives them fake names (American).

4. They makes a write up for leaving message to threaten you. like:-

"This message is intended for Mr. john (your name).  john the very second you receive this msg i need you or your retained attorney to call me back. the issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. my name is ..........., and i am calling from financial accountability association, my call back no. is 123456789, i am repeating this for you john 123456789, john don't disregard this msg and call me on my number back as soon as possible. if i don't get any call from you or from your attorney........ wish you good luck, bye"

5. If you pick up phones ...they will threaten you by saying... that federal govt or federal legislation  is going to pressing lawsuit against you and your social security number. and try to make you remember that you took a pay day loan and never paid it back... so it is very easy to threaten you by saying that "such company falling lawsuit against you for your unpaid loan".
( you don't know for which loan he/she talking about and try to remember your last 2- 3 loans (which you actually got and never paid)).  At this time you stuck in the situation.

(according to my perception you never know "how many loan you took in last 1 or 2 year"- sorry-- joking)

6. They will tell that you are charged against these allegations:-  1. Theft by deception 2. collateral cheque fraud

7. They will tell u that they have sent various mails to inform you but u never replied and that was the only way to communicate you.

8.They will ask u to write a Apologizing letter that “your intention was not bad and you never wanted to run away with that money & you want to fix that issue by paying ..... amount.”


how to avoid them...

1. By telling that you have an attorney (Both criminal and bankruptcy). give any number by saying "call to my attorney"... they won't call.
2. By telling that u know : Its ALL SCAM .......... they will hung up.
3. By telling that its not my social security number....... they will never call.
4.By asking for the date of loan taken (online)........ they can't help you in this matter (by which u can come to know about scam)

Don't be afraid.........They won't sue........

Called my Consulting Agency supposedly looking for me and was extremely rude to my manager.  He told her he was from the "Department of Crime Prevention in NYC," and his name is "Jight Jordan at(646) 461-3892 x4545."  I called them just to speak to two extremely rude men, to whom I gave a false name and no number, thanks goodness.  Watch out for these guys!  They are completely phony and trying to scam people out of money!

I got a message that this strange gentleman from this number called me and I never heard of him. He told my associate that he was from Department of Crime and she informed me he sounded very suspicious.

this people called my mother and told her that I they are going to arrest me. I tried to call them back and come to find out that they are callers from India and it's a scam. They have stolen my information online.

I got calls from 646-461-3892 yesterday, whe I started asking questions, the man got mad. He told me he was going to stick his *(ck in my Virginia.  I tried to tell him Virginia is a state, not a body part, but that made him even angrier.
I called them back, over and over and over and over....the little scam artists got very very frustrated! :)

I told them to [***] off and that my cousin is a C.I.A. agent and that we are tracing the origin of the texts.

Got call at work from Gary Thomas stating I owed some pay day company $1001.00. Heavy accent. I paid $101.00 Then I found out they were a scam. Thanks to this site I disputed it with my bank and was credited back.. I had two #'s 646-461-3892 and 646-525-4064.

I got a call from them today and I paid them the money they requested and found after wards it wa s a scam. Now I need to find out how to get my money back.

Call your bank or financial institution and tell them the situation.  They will probably make you sign an affidavit but they will credit your money back.  I'm sorry this happened to you.  It almost happened to me but I fortunately didn't give them information.  Good luck!

these people call me at work sayiin that i owe money to payday cash which i never took any money from them and iam going to get alawsuit. they have indian accent . he use the name Andy Smith.

don't pay them.. it is a scam. I paid them but my bank cancelled my account and opened another for me. And they put the money back into my account that I paid out..

I work in a bankruptcy law firm.  I had a client that called in and complained about "Keith Jordan" (heavy accent) calling and that we needed to add this debt to their bankruptcy.  I called to get their address so we could send them notice and THEY could file a claim for reimbursement.  He told me I could only fax it and that he couldn't give out his address.  SCAM.  Don't talk to these people.

I am a Probation Officer, one of my probationers informed me that she received a call from 646-461-3892  and that the caller (NEIL JOHNSON), informed her that he is from the criminal investigation dept. and threatened her that she is owing some money and that she should pay up the debt or she will be arrested and taken to court. I googled the number and came across the posts on complaints about the same number. I called her back and informed her it was a scam. I encourage everyone to report any scam and put it out there so that people will know.

called me and told me i owed 510 dollars from a paydayl loan i stated that i never recieved a loan and ask for the loan company info the man claimed they sent me the money threw a prepaid visa card the man yelled at me and said i was going to jail today if i didnt pay in one hour through wastern union i hung up and called the number back a man answerd and stated that the number we had called was newyork life insurance co IT'S A STRAIGHT SCAM and i almost fell for it.

My wife got 5 calls today, and her mother got one as well looking for my wife. Story is the same as other comments posted here regarding the caller, statements about collections and legal docs, and police being notified. However the SOB had way too much info (full social, driver license # and more). Now we have to do what we can to mitigate further issues... Its clear that one of the loan advance organizations has a leak!

I got a call from this number and the guy (thick indian accent) said his name was Jim Smith. He asked to speak with my husband and when I told him he wasn't here, he asked when he'd be back. I told him I didn't know and then he proceeded to ask if he could come over and f*ck me. I hung up. He then called back 6 times.... he left a voicemail once which was just him singing until my voicemail hung up. Then he called again and said he was the police and he was coming over to f*ck me. There has to be some way to stop these people.

I got the same call but he gave his name as Alex Furdu with a heavy Indian accent as well. He left many message saying that all he gets is voice mail when he calls me. He called my children to get info from them.
I called back to see what this about but keep getting voice mail with it saying this box is full and when I did get threw and left time to contact me no calls. Glad i didn't talk to him.
