I recieved a phone call this morning, telling me that crimial charges were being brought up against me for non payment of a payday loan that was taken out several years ago that I do not remember taking out. Stated that I will be charged in a federal court w/ charges starting with check fraud... imprisonment up to 5 years & $5000 fine just for having it taken to federal court. Very heavy indian accent, knew my SS#, address, all my families phone numbers, my place of employment for the last 5 years, my last address that I just moved from. Upon me asking who the payday loan company that was attempting to collect/sue me was, I was told that it was Pay day Cash & that there were several of them that went through their company & that he would not be able to tell me exactly over the phone. So I told him to email me the information, I have yet to recieve this information. But when your waking up to a phone call of this nature, & being told that they have contacted the police dept in my city (which is a very small city, w/ only 2 police officers) a block down the road, & that they are standing on stand by waiting for them to call them back to arrest me for check fraud, if i refused to pay, you tend to freak out, which is what i did. I made the mistake of giving them my debit card info Now I have to close down my bank account, put an alert on all my credit report stuff etc... All for waking me up, & this has been chewing @ me all day, so tonight i jump on google to find this out. People taking advantage of people who have had a rough time to begin with making ends meet due to what ever circumstance that has landed them in the situation they are in, should be hung!  My husband & I work hard for the money that we do make, it isn't much but it is ours & we have to rob peter to pay paul just about every month, so we do get creditors that call frequently, how do u ever figure out that they are the real creditor that is calling & how do you tell it is a scam?

His name was Peter Smit, & the total that he told me I owed was for $585. After I gave him my debit card info, he said he would call back in 2 or 3 hours with a confirmation number as their systems were down @ the moment. I got a phone call back about an hour later, but all they said was hello & hung up. After reading all the posts on this site I will be gettin in touch with a lawyer & filing charges against them if I can find them.

getting calls from the same number as well, at my job, and to people who know me. the gentleman is using the name Alex Fergueson. i have told them to stop calling my job, because he is leaving messages that i am being sought out for a criminal matter and i am the prime suspect. so what do i do about that? i am not going to send them any money, i have taken care of the loan. but i will take the advice and notify my local law enforcement.

Just rec'd a call from this number from a person with a heavy accent - the message was unintelligible.
He identified himself as "Officer Harry Olson" and wanted to talk to me about a "legal matter."

it seems that they just won't stop. i called them out on every thing that they said..They asked if the SS# they read to me was mine..I said "NO"..They asked if I bank with Wells Fargo..I said "NO" DO NOT CONFRIM ANY OF THE INFORMATION, EVEN IF IT'S TRUE..THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE INFO IS CORRECT TO USE SOMEWHERE ELSE..as soon as I didn't confirm the info...they hung up...

My husband got a call at work from the department of crime prevention. He was told the same story as everyone else. He said his name was Robert Smith, but he was Indian with a heavy accent. When he gave my husband the SS# and the name, he told him that was not him. He kept on saying that he was going to get arrested if we didn't pay $222. I decided to call him and ask him all types of questions. He gave me someone else's information (SSN, name, address), which no company that is legit would do. These people need to be reported, because they have a lot of personal information from God knows how many people.

DO NOT PAY THEM.... I just found this and i'm glad i didn't give them my credit card (which i almost did).

this number is a scam!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT send them money! if they threaten to call the police, let them do it. its the stupid people out there that send them money who fuel their greed. think about it, if you owed money to a company, why would you be sending money to a specific person, and why would they threaten to call the police on you? it makes no sense. ask them for simple questions that a business would disclose, like a mailing address, or the name of the person you are speaking to. Oh, they cant give you a mailing address? SCAM!

This caller keeps calling at home and called my job twice today. Says he from Minnesota Crime Prevention, New York Dept and I was a suspect in a criminal matter. His was  alex Ferguson, very heavy accent, spoke fast and threatened legal action, jail and losing my job. He stated that I owed $350.00 plus $50.00 interset for a payday loan that I had deposit into my checking acct. When I asked for a date he said 10/09. I asked for numbers to the company from which the loan was made and he said he had numbers but was unable to give them to me because it would be a conflict of interest, that his company was paid by this Pay Day Cash business to collect outstanding balances. I did call "Alex" back and informed him that I was sitting with my banker, attorney and a police officer and went over bank statements and that there was no such deposit in 10/09 and that I would be calling the FTC and BBB and also the MN attorney generals office. I then request the copy of the affidavit he suppossedly had to be faxed to the bank and he wasn't able to do that. I then stated this was a scam and to never contact me again.

Both myself and me coworker had messages on our voicemail from Officer Andy Smith regarding a legal matter against "you and your s.s.#, My co worker told me to google it as she had heard of the scam.

I received the same call today.  He wouldn't tell me why I haven't received any paper work or why my county courthouse had no idea what I was talking about when I called and told them that I was threatened to be arrested.  He told me that I took out a pay day loan which I never have!! He was rude, I could not understand a word he was saying and said his name was James Parker from TX.

For one you can not be arrested for a debt.  two I never revived any paper work. Three why would a ock knob be calling from the so called "dept. of criminal defense" or whatever the hell he said.  All I know is if he calls back I will be giving him a piece of my mind!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I just got the same call from David Johnson and yes I am to wire the money to Jerry Hunt in Myrtle Beach SC.  Thanks for the info, I almost did it.

I have been receiving calls from a man with a heavy Indian accent I decided to return the call. This man Neal Johnson claim he was from Dept. of Crime Prevention 206 456 0812 and 206 456 0814 when I asked what was this about since he had my name ,SS# and phone which he tried to confirm my social and I decline if that was mine or not he said I defaulted on a payday loan when I pressed what company it was for he screamed "payday loan company" he read off some legal veribage which who knows what it said because I couldnt understand a word he said and asked me to pay $450. He tried to confirm my personal information I told I dont know what your talking about and my said I must have had friends or relatives that took the loan out I keep denying everything he became more angry so finally I told him your a SCAM! and hung up the phone. Please be aware of the new numbers they have changed to hide themselves.

i just recieved a call stating if i didnt pay 742 dollars a would have to go to court tomorrow. it was i guess a loan that was directly deposited in my account which i never got even if they really did send me money. they said it was from cash advance and if i chose to not pay the 742 i would have to pay over 8000$. they said they will put me behind bars and have the cops at my door tomorrow. if this wasnt a scam then how come i am just now being made aware of the courtdate tomorrow? they said they would give till friday at 5 to pay the money. im not sure what the phone number is since i dont have caller id but the foriegn guy gave me information to send a money gram to geery p hunt in myrtle beach. i have been recieving around 5 to 10 calls a day from these loan places i just keep telling them they have the wrong number. this guy scared the crap out of me because im home alone with my 3 month old. this is harrasement and assualt im actually going to tell them that im going to sue them. my mom used to deal with these people that are scammers and she took law courses in college. i think im going to believe her over them. they told me the phone conversation was being recorded by the federal and that federal was sueing me???

Just got an automated message from this number claiming to be mason financial about something being returned from my bank.  Anybody know how cell number gets on these stupid lists?

Called my cell. I don't pick up numbers I don't know. I search who it is first.
It's most likely a scam...Why? Because I have nothing to do with an outstanding loan...so they are calling random people! BEWARE!!!

Exactly. No one can be notified the day before a court date. Good thinking..its your duty to ask all kinds of logical questions when you hear a threat. This goes for our politicians too!

It comes up as a NY, USA call on my phone.
Never answer.... they call 5 times a week... annoying as all hell!!
