Scammers can use Skype, no doubt. But you will get this kind of generic Skype numbers in your caller ID even when someone genuine like your family and friends call you from Skype (and if they have not purchased a specific Skype number, which most of us don't do). This number will show in your caller ID, if the caller calls your number (not the Skype ID), and if you are not online in Skype but you have call forwarding set up in Skype setting.

My point is that not all calls from this kind of numbers are from scammers. I learnt it after I missed a call from a friend today. My phone had a miscall from this number. Skype was not on in my phone. I checked the internet forums and worried for a while. Later, I logged into my Skype and there I had a miscall from my friend at the same time that I had a miscall from this number. This happened because I have call forwarding set up in my Skype to forward all calls to my mobile number. So when my friend called me in my Skype ID, Skype forwarded the call to my mobile number as I was offline in Skype, so when my mobile number received the call, it recognized the Skype's generic number.

So when you get calls from this kind of Skype numbers just log into Skype and check if you had a miscall from a relative or a friend before rushing to report the number.

Anne Jacobson called from IJF asking to speak with an employee of HP. Call came in to a private cell phone number.

They  introduced them self as calling from dish network.  And they started threat about officer come and arrest you.

I answered the first time and it was a noisy line then she said hello and I said hi and she hung up. Called a few minutes later and I answered with "yep you dialed the wrong number again" and hung up.

The company that owns (661) 748-0241 is Schneider ACS. It is a company run by Indians that sell primarily generic pharmaceuticals like Viagra to Americans. No doubt some of those who work at the Indian call center are taking advantage of their phone system "after hours" to sell a wide variety of other side-products and/or scams to those in the United States.

Mon 11/25/13 @ approx. 1pm - God a phone call from a young man posing as my grandson.  Talking like he knew me and was happy to talk with me.  He stated he was my favorite grandson when I asked which on I have several.  Never gave me a straight answer.  When he insisted HE was MY favorite I knew it was a scam and said so I HAVE NO GRANDSONS AND THIS IS A SCAM, CLICK-DISCONNECTED IMMEDIATELY.  BE VERY CAREFUL AS I DID ASK HIS NAME AND HE RESPONDED WITH A VERY COMMON NAME.  I AM CERTAIN HIS NEXT STEP WAS GOING TO HIT ME UP FOR SOME $$$$.

We've had four calls today from this number.  I answered two of them and couldn't hear anything but static on the line.  The third call I let go to another department, and on the fourth call, I answered and there was static, but I could hear someone speaking. I asked if he knew who he had called and he hung up.

this is a very annoying call because it is unknown. I don't answer unknown calls.

A man using this number (661-748-0241) calls stating he is a "court investigator" trying to find a relative of mine.  Calls daily but will not leave a call back number - and then threatens to have me arrested for not talking to him!  Wish I could stop this harassment as it is very annoying.

I get at least 2-3 calls a week from this number on my office phone. I never answer because it just says Skype Caller on the caller ID and they never leave a message. They've been calling 2-3 times a week for about 2 months now.

I received a call from this number with a name on my caller id shows the person calling is Arindom Roy. He did not leave any message but when I returned the call it seems to be a long distance call and I did not call try to call as I there is no valid reason to believe that I know this guy and no specific message to follow up. Looks like a random Skype call

The guy told me he was hired from a website to give me a message from one of my friends and said that I was fat and needed to go on a diet... He said he was Mark wahlberg of Marky mark and the funky bunch. That was 2 weeks ago. Since then I have gotten many prank calls from other kids at school who have since gotten in trouble. I get a call today saying this friend messaged him to apologize to me because of the trouble it has caused... Can someone help me out with this? It also says it is a Skype number and cannot be reached
