- georgia mom| 1 replyThese people are debt collectors and are rude. They called my work and I asked them to take my work number out of their system and they said that they would. I told them that I didn't have money to give them right now. I told them that I would send them some money next pay check. They said it wasn't enough and they are threatening to sue me and call my work again for employment verification. These people don't care to help, they are only trying to get money any way they can whether it hurts me and my family or not.

- R replies to CallmeIfindUAnother message says he went to Vanderbilt...?? He probably has some legal knowledge but he sounds like a bottom feeding maggot. He's also been sued for his antics according to another report.
- Tara replies to MarkIf you don't mind me asking, did you ever get the issue resolved with your debt?. I too owe Hollis Cobb Associates and agreed to a payment of $100 a month to this attorney's office but now I can't afford it since I have no income coming in and these fools keep calling me.
- Tara replies to georgia momDid they actually sue you or were they just blowing smoke?
- AmyI got a call from this number at 7pm while we were having dinner. The message was a very angry sounding man which said "I am calling from the office of Brent Stamps....". Clearly the person calling is not a lawyer and in the background of the message I could hear many other people talking. It must have been a call center somewhere. I assume they are a collection agency pretending to be a law office calling to settle a debt which is most likely not even real. Oh well....I blocked the number.

- Anyone LastnameJones replies to Mark| 1 replyGood for you Mark! I am not from down here(GA, south, etc.) and ended up in "tha hood" because i didn't know anyone or the area very well...i know this has been a while since you posted this and may not ever see this but wanted to say I am sorry about your situation....I got a call from these individuals(and called them back) turns out they were looking for someone with the same last name(turns out Jones is a pretty damn common dame down here) LOL don't mean to laugh but those people are a few sandwiches sort of a picnic to say the least...Even though I told them I had no idea who this other person was they still were trying to get me to pay some bill...LOL...i used to joke about people in GA being slow(now after living here I stand corrected and apologize for putting the rest in that category!...I have met some very decent normal folks down here but, certain types are veeeery slooooooow!) I think I got "Bro man from the 5th floor" as well...Fortunate for me, I am a veteran which gave me exposure to people from many walks of life, as well as a brief stint of living in "tha hood" so I learned to talk just like the "peeps"(sorry little sugar covered marshmallow treats) that work at this place!
You basically have to talk to them like this ...you need to know their number so when they call you can answer the call properly in their language by sayin "Sup [***]?" when you pick up the phone. After they give you a brief "splanation" of what they are "callin bout" and "AXE" if you are the right person or not, you then need to VEEEEEERRRRY SLOWLLLLLLY speak so that they can understand the English language since their parents, schools, employer, etc. have not taught them any English grammar AT ALL! (I suggest checking Barnes and Noble for a book of ebonics or study the urban dictionary online)....I have never ever dealt with any company or individuals like these!!!!!
Needless to say, I now answer their call for pure amusement and to practice my ebonics in case they should ever come in handy!!!!!!
Anyway, anyone at all ever having to deal with these people tor anyone that has a debt like yours go online and look up your rights about paying debts, credit reporting etc.! Look up Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the fair trade commission for accurate information!!! Here's a link for FAQs http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm It will be very helpful dealing with collectors of any type, even these morons!
I wouldn't stress over it...you need to keep a roof over your head and food in your families mouth. And if these companies harass or make threats they don't intend on following through with like suing you etc. (good to keep documentation of dates, times, conversations, and even record them if possible) you can sue them. Or if you inform them in writing that you are refusing to pay the debt and they contact you for any reason other than to say they received that notice is also another instance where you have grounds for recourse against these agencies!!! But, got to the fair trade commissions website and read and research all you can online about The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act....having the knowledge will be a great help! - Alyssa replies to georgia911 is for emergencies only, such as heart attacks, fires, car crashes, and people getting shot, etc. Don't waste the dispatchers time with a phone call like this. Use your brain. Call an attorney, the Better Business Bureau, or an attorney of your own. Calling 911 wastes valuable time for people who need urgent help.

- Melissa SojournerI have been getting repeated calls, at least 6 per day, from Brent D. Stamps office regarding a patient account that was discharged in my recent bankruptcy. On several occassions I informed an attorney named Shelton to contact my bankruptcy attorney and stop calling my number because I was at work and could lose my job! He was completely rude and threaten to continue calling unless I provided him with all the contact information for my attorney. I know my attorneys name and location, advised where the bankruptcy was file and advised that the creditor he was trying to collect on behalf of had already been notified of the bankruptcy yet this was not enough informaiton for him. He yelled at me and threatened to continue his harassment so while at work I had to stop get on the internet, do a simple search for my bankruptcy attorney and provide him with this information causing me to be written up at work. The number that continues to call me is 601-713-1010 and they identify themselves as Patient Accounts. I am a single widow with 3 children and my job is the only way we survive. For me to continue to be harrassed while I am at work is unethical and illegal!
