- Cameron| 1 replyI don't get why someone needs to be told that if someone calls you, and 1can hardly speak English and 2 tells you that you have "won" a Walmart gift card, then 3 says we need your CC card information for the $2.99 fee. Should have their head examined, I feel sorry for the lady that was scared, but the truth be told, you can only be scammed if you want to be.
If you are told that you have won anything then you are asked for CC information, or banking information, or any personal information, stop, and think, did I enter any contests, drawings recently. If the answer is no, it's most likely a scam, as a free thinking adult, you can do whatever you want, but if you are giving out personal information to obtain a gift card you have won, or is "free" either you really need the $100.00 gift card, or, you have too much money. If it's the latter, I will give you my number and you can give me some of that money you have too much of.
It's not rocket science, again, if you get a call and are told you have won something, you generally don't pay ANYTHING to anyone. That includes giving out Cc, information, or debit card information, if they ask for any money in any form it's a scam, once that information is out you have to cancel the card and your credit score is now on the line. Don't be afraid to ask for their information first, who they are, what company do the represent etc. Or, better yet hang the f up. Because it isn't gonna be free in about 10 minutes after you have everything given up your debit card information or your CC information.- Caller: Scammers
- FedUp replies to CameronWow, thanx for replying ! Have you read all my previous posts ? Please do, and that's how we get them and at least be a thorn in their side !!!
- Cameron replies to Ann MinnickAnn,
if you are contacted and told you have won, or its free, followed up by, we need you CC information, or you debit card information. Ask yourself, did I enter any drawings, if that answer is no, then you are being scammed. If you have really won anything, gift card, whatever, they should already have your address, because you have entered into a drawing at some point in a legitimate business.
These people use MO eyes as the lure, keep that in mind doing, it's not the first time someone has been contacted by someone in India, or somewhere in Africa, saying you have won multi millions of dollars. But use common sense. I am sure you are a smart woman, so use that Grey matter between your ears, and don't ever hand out personal CC information or debit card information. Generally speaking, if you have legitimately won something you don't have to give out that information to receive your "prize" if you do you have lost, damaged or destroyed your credit score. - annoyed###Of course, I answered... Caller ID said TN, USA - when I picked up, an automated voice said, "Hello, thank you for calling, our menu options have changed". I then hung up, realizing it is not the call I've been waiting for.
- Miss JackieReceived a call today from that number.. Did not answer because most calls that I don't recognize are scams. Thanks for all the post.
If they really are scammers, be cautious of how long you talk to them or if your calling them back. Charges on your phone bill may be "extra", like 3-4 dollars per minute. So review your phone bill carefully. - DavidGot a call to I watched the phone ring( didnt recognize) till they hung up.They of course didn't leave a VM. I googled the number and this website popped up. I now know to add them to my Call blocking app, that once added if they call back again my phone doesn't ring it just automatically disconnects the caller and saves it in a log. Problem solved.
For hard core spammers who often spoof different numbers. I have an method to block them to without having to wait for them to call using wildcard char. - Tired of being called| 1 replyThe Company just called me with the same junk.
- Semi-Anonymous replies to Tired of being calledJust called me, but lately I've got a habit of not picking up on calls not in my phone book, or at least in my area code.
- MikeI got a call from this number offering a Walmart gift card. They automatic system ask to press 1 to talk to a representative. Someone with a terrible accent and broken English ( from India for sure) with the name of Stephan was on the other side of the line. So I decide to play the same game and provide fake information. For almost an HOUR the guy gave up and disconnect the call. Almost in 3 opportunities I change my name and address. he he he
The caller ID shows : Big Sandy, TN- Caller: Unkknown
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Tech Guru| 1 replyThese people are scammers. I recommend a loud whistle or they will keep calling you. This is the 5th time they have tried to scam our household. First it was lowering credit card interests to which I have no credit cards, Then it was the small business loan program, And now this 100$ free walmart gift card. The common factor in all messages are to :"press 1 to be connected to a live person" If you hear this it's the same people and take that time to ready your whistle!
Happy whistling
