They call my house constantly asking to donate. This harassment needs to stop.

SCAM - No legit charity calls multiple times/day. They have a robot-dialing large call center.  I cannot find a legit non-profit listing for them, nor a filed annual financial statement.

The Hope House is a fairly New Non-Profit organization that provides a safe haven for women (and in some cases, men) that may be transitioning from domestically violent situations.  Any clothing and reusable household items that are donated help to generate funds so these services can be provided.  There are currently more than three families with approximately 18 children between them that are reaping the benefits of your donations.  We are working on the quantity of the calls.  Thank you in advance for your support.  http://www.hopehouseatl.org

Hope House is another scam by the same guy who does Nspire.  Look them up on their website.  Same address.  No legitimate charity would utilize these tele-spam tactics.  There are plenty of other charities out there that do good work, make good use of your money, respect do not call lists and would allow you to remove your name from their telemarketing lists.  Do not give money to these charities.  They don't respect others.  The only thing they understand is the $$, do don't give it to them.

Check out the complaints against Nspire too.  They even have the gall to post fake testimonials to complaint lists like this one in the hopes of justifying their tele-spam tactics.  Why would anyone even think about giving money to these groups?!

I work with another non-profit organization and people are constantly calling us to have their donations picked up...we both have HOPE in our names and we have been erroneously associated with this "organization".  After getting a personal call from them, I looked them up and found this information about them.  My advice - check it out!!  Never accept a call unless you know the organization, want to be affiliated with them, but pursue your charities and do not take them on faith that they are legit.  There are so many these days that you can support and I encourage you to do so based on your own personal interests - don't let someone else dictate your charitable giving...hmm, does that sound like our government intervention???

My phone number is on the do not call list.  I have asked them to not call back and the calls continue.  Please make them stop!

People from Hope House (770-807-3915) keeps calling my home looking for my son Dennis. They call several times a day and have been calling here for weeks.

My son, Col. Dennis Loy was killed in Afghanistan 3 years ago. He's was interned at Arlington, VA.

The next time they call I will be contacting my attorney, my state senator, the DeKalb Police department, and every news organization that will talk to me. Hope House can explain to all these people why they keep calling myself and my wife.

The harassing phone calls never stop.  I have asked repeatedly to be removed from their call list.  Out of desperation I have even given them a dose of their own medicine.  I have called them repeatedly, nonstop and tied up their phones for hours on end.  It's really easy to do while watching your favorite TV shows.  I just hit redial over and over.  It didn't do any good but it made me feel like I had made it a little harder for them to continue their scam.   I am going to get everyone I know to explain to them that they are moving  or some variation on that and have a household full of items for them to pick up. How many pick up runs do you think they will waste gas on before they get a clue.  
Can you tell that they have driven me crazy?

I am so sorry this keeps happening to you.  When an organization has become so bad that all you have to do is google their phone to get a long list of complaints, surely someone will listen to you.

Could they be looking for more than donations?  Sounds like they have come up wth a pretty good way of obtaining addresses.  Wouldn't be hard to tell if no one is home.

I had the same problem.  They had called several times - at the time I had been giving to another organization and they always seemed to call a day or two after I had committed to giving clothes to the other charity.  Finally late last year they happened to call before the other charity and I put out a donation for them, which they actually picked up.  But this year when they called and I sat the clothes out, they didn't pick it up.  A couple of weeks later they called again and I told them they'd never picked up the last donation.  They apologized and asked that if the clothes weren't picked up this time to call them back.  The pick-up day came and went and I called, they said they'd send someone else the following day, but the next evening the bag was still there.  I called them back and we repeated the same scenario.  The following week by the time they called, the other charity had called and I promised them the clothes, so I told Hope House they had lost a donor and would appreciate if they didn't call me again.  That was a month ago and I haven't heard from them since (knock on wood!).

On 2 occasions both hope house and nspire failed to pick up donations. Hope house even issued a receipt with Gregg Kennard's signature via email. Isn't that fraud? I am sending the receipt to the State agencies listed at this link: http://sos.georgia.gov/securities/charit.htm

I have a very simple measure when an unsolicited caller phones my home. "Did the caller leave a message with a call back number in his presentation?"

It is in Lawrenceville and is a kind of homeless shelter that also helps out the poor..   It is a real charity I have donated to them many times.  If you take your stuff to them they will scrurry down and unload for you.

Like other respondents, we too are continually harassed by these people and nspire. Thinking I'd get some relief from the (totally useless) FCC regarding the DNC list, I visited the site, only to find that NPO's (non-profit-organizations) are exempt from your ability to block them from calling you.

And, like nspire, their incessant harassment only infuriates me more, to the point where I will 'never' deal with them. What these people fail to realize is that their rudeness is counter-productive.

Not long after I married, as the leader of our family, wifey asked me to develop a household policy for telemarketers, and I came up with this: "We do not conduct business with any organization with which we have not initiated contact." Please note the keywords "...with we have not initiated contact." This policy has served us very well, as it applies equally to all callers, be they on the phone or at our door. Either way, on the phone or at your door, the policy works. If they counter with "But..." nicely reply with "What part of what I said did you fail to understand?"

The bottom line is that unless you've done your due diligence and initiated the contact, you really don't know who the calling parties really are. While even then there are risks of being snookered, you have vastly reduced those chances.

If there's a bright side to all this, it's this: be grateful for caller-ID! Really. Armed with this, we can see who's calling before we pick up. If we don't know the number, or it does not appear, we simply don't pick up and let the machine get it; that's why we buy them, right?

I am not inspired by nspire, and I think that hope-house is hope-less. To those who have had good experiences with these organizations... would you please use your contacts and have a discussion with the morons who develop their business model and suggest they stop alienating the very people they ask for help.

Your decisions put you in the position you were/are in with five children at a young age. Because of you the rest of us must be subjected to constant harassing telephone calls from this so-called charity? It's rude. I am glad you have received help. Now pay us all back and speak to your creepy charity and tell them to stop calling us.
