They just called me too. 3/24 6:15pm.  I called them back but go a busy signal.  I get many of these unsolicited calls and due to my having called id I don't answer.  Another thing I do is put a call block on these numbers so they won't be able to get through again.  Try the call blocking if it is available with you phone system, it works great.  I hope this helps

Got voicemail saying we get $10 free in gas if we responded to blah.... (erased VM). Called back, VM says company is Opinion Research Corp doing marketing research, left a VM asking to be taken off their telemarketing list. Filed a complaint with Do Not Call Registry. Next time the scumbags call, we'll also file a complaint with the FCC.

We're on the Do Not Call Registry, and even though those telemarketing scumbags called us twice, and we asked them to remove our phone number from their telemarketing list twice, they keep calling. We have systematically filed complaints with the DNCR. We have also complained to their major sponsor CNN, and have written to their President Gerard Miodus to complain: http://www.opinionresearch.com/are_team.shtml. Next time they call, we'll file a formal with the FCC. Enough with those parasites!

These are telemarketers. They are doing research for anyone who pays them. In this case it does look like CNN and doesn't matter which party. My little chat with the girl on the other end was me returning a call to their main line and her trying to use my phone number to find out which poll/consumer group I fit into. Until a supervisor caught on to my questions. I just registered to vote in my state since I just moved so they didn't have the information they needed handy. After they dug up information and whispered even though I could hear them they hung up on me with apologies and that they will be removing me and I will never have to hear from them again. I'm a proud member of the TEA party and very public, once they found that out they wouldn't talk to me. From the information I did get, looks like it leans more toward Democrat voters. Although not specific to the Democrats. There is a separate questionnaire for Republicans. Apparently they want to hear the right answers or they do not want to talk to you.

I spent a summer working for a telemarketer and this is how it works. Even with opinion polls:

Hi my name is **** and I'm asking for a donation for lets say fallen police officers. (They always use a ruse, the chance of this being for a fallen anyone is slim to none and they will slip this in the conversation almost without your knowledge). Or they might give a penny of the profit.

You are given a HUGE book with tabs to lead said victim back over and over to force that donation out of them or the answer they want to hear.

I can't afford it: Tab 1, Guilt trip them.
I'm out of work: Tab 2, Everyone can make a small sacrifice. You can sell something.

The worst one for me was the death in the family or I'm very sick with a disease like cancer tab. Personally I never went there and could have been fired for but that was a line I wouldn't cross. On public opinion polls they questions are meant to lead you to one conclusion, theirs. There are maybe 65 tabs, they have thought of everything. Even if you think your on to them they are information gathering by what you say.

Todays lesson in how polls work and how your sold a bill goods you don't want. We need to put a stop to these intrusions in our homes all hours of the day and night. Because no matter what you might have said it will be twisted to benefit the person who paid for said phone call. All they wanted was a head count, the answer you give will be the one they wanted anyway. All they need is proof you were called.

I should add this. If CNN calls you directly they must by law use your information as you direct it. If they hire a 3rd party to make those calls looking for the results they want to hear and are pushy they have an agenda and no matter what you say they are ordered by someone to obtain the right results. They also maybe indirectly working for CNN. Hired by the DNC to be aired on CNN for instance. That changes everything. It's all in the wording.

My eyes have been opened since I joined TEA. We have so many crooks running this country in both parties your head would spin if you knew how some of these games are played. Even the polls are corrupt, I just found that out for sure. And even though I worked at it in the past I guess I didn't want to believe it.

I've Received Call From 775-337-1194 Even Bank of America Who's The Crooked of All Who Pry On The Handicapped Who Are Supposed Protected by The Federal Government !

My Best Advice Is Buy Cell Phone or Buy Call Blocker or Caller ID To Ignore Those Calls Than Hung Up On Them or Just Turn Off The Ringer Than Only Place Your Call !

It is a customer service survey from something that you purchased. Mine was to check on the service that a Lowe's Installer provided for installing my refridge.

Unfortunately, since the company is not soliciting you to purchase something, it is NOT a violation of your DNC rights. I do agree with you that these calls are annoying, so maybe we should all solicit our government representatives to add market research callers to the DNC list.

After ignoring three calls to my cell phone by this number (and reading this web site), I answered the fourth call on a Saturday when it wouldn't use my minutes.  It was Opinion Research conducting a survey about Lowe's.  I had just recently given Lowe's my cell number because I'd hired them to do some work on my house.  Obviously, Lowe's gave Opinion Research my number.  I declined to take their survey and asked to be removed from their call list.  The caller politely said he'd comply and we hung up.  We'll see if they stop calling, but I'm hopeful that they do.

The caller ID says "Nevada Call." I didn't answer and they left no message. I'm on the DNC but that seems to do no good. I find calls like this particularly annoying because if you work nights and sleep days (as some of us have to) they can really destroy your sleep pattern. One thing I do sometimes (if a person is on the other end, in the rare occasions I answer calls from numbers I don't recognize) is answer in either French or German.

How many times do you have to hang up on someone, or tell them to do something with themselves, before they don't call back. Sheesh. Does anyone but complainers read these?
All my caller ID says is
"NEVADA CALL" and the #. FU already!
I like the Police Station Idea!
