    I contacted Verizon about this and as of 4/19/2010 they supposedly have disconnected these scammers from their network. If YOU HAVE VERIZON AND ARE STILL GETTING THESE please post here. Whatever your service provider, I suggest calling customer support and ask for "Tier 2" support. Tell them about this situation and request that they disconnect this spammer from their network. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, REPLY TO THIS OR ANY OTHER SPAMMER, regardless of whether or not your carrier's support tells you to do so. By doing so, you verify not only that you are a live person, but that you actually took the time to read the message rather than delete it as most people do.

    Also, remember that this is illegal whether or not you are in the Do-Not-Call list. File a complaint for each text spam with the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm (Click on "Wireless" then the first option on the next page.)

    Finally, you can ask your service provide to block SMS spam originating from "short codes" or email. However, 77893 evades these filters somehow. Verizon has not yet provided me with info how.

    Just a follow-up. I reported each spam text message to the FCC. I just got a notice in the mail from the FCC basically saying that nothing was going to happen. Frustrating. I still can't block short codes via Verizon, and the FCC won't do anything to regulate.

    How do we stop companies that send unsolicited text or make unsolicited phone calls to cell phones? Can we get our Attorneys General to force them to stop? The URL that comes with the text is
    <www.homesusa101.com>

    I took the chance to "unsubscribe" from the company that runs this website.

    FYI
    Hey I was getting these messages too. Reply "STOP" make sure it is all caps and they will send you a confirmation saying something to the effect of "you will no longer receive our services www.financespot.com". Also, double check your cell phone bill because more likely than not they've been charging you $9.99 per month for "Premium Text Messaging".

    Hope this helps you all. It's worked a few times for me.

    Reply "STOP" in all-caps to the number and they'll delete you from their list. I've used it on several numbers and it works. Just need to do it each time they start using a new number.

    AGGRAVATED
    I have been getting these spam texts from this same stupid number for a month now.  I have reported it to Verizon Wireless and they were supposed to block it after I replied to this company to stop but I"M STILL GETTING THE JUNK.  This is no different than telemarketing calls.  Government just fine them.  Verizon said I must have subscribed to them but I DID NOT!!!!  I am very aggravated because I pay per text.  They are costing me money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Steve in Denver
    text reading "Rent2Own single family foreclosures from $158 per month! Move-in ready. For local listings, go to www.tophomesnow.com" I'm so sick of getting junk texts -- I don't want to block all messages, but I don't get unlimited texts, and these jerks are wasting MY MONEY. I want a "do not text" list, just like the "do not call" list.

    Don't even think of replying STOP. Not only can you be charged as others have pointed out, but you've identified yourself as a live person, and that you took the time to actually read the message, which is half the battle of unsolicited marketing.
