- Real Personi just got a call from this number. they could not tell me which fraud claim this came from. at first, he said it was a couple of times before. similar to other people's comments, the connection was bad and the persons diction was poor. the big red flag was when they asked for my updated email address. i asked what email do they currently have. they gave me an email that is nothing like my real email. i logged into Capital One at the same time and verified to myself that my account still shows with my correct email. i did not tell the person my correct email because i now doubted that they were real.
i asked for their phone number. they provided 800-215-1921 ext. 2910973; i said i would call them back.
i called Capital One and they verified that (1) that is NOT a Capital One extension and (2) they would never tell me my email address and then just ask me to give them the correct one.
trust your gut. just take a message. hang up. call Capital One yourself, using the phone number on their website. - It's a Scam (a very good one)This is definitely a SCAM....
Just got off phone with Capital One (#on back of my card). Supervisor verified it is NOT Capital One!! When you do call the 1-800-215-1921 ext #2910815 "Tamera" there is a message to leave your 16 account # and Social Security # !!!!! No No No
Capital would NEVER ask you to do that and on a voice mail of all things... For those of you that still think it is legitimately Capital One and provided that info... I hope you read this and go check your accounts IMMEDIATELY ....this SCAM co. Is good but please don't fall for it. Also these "scammers" are also posting on these boards saying that it is legit!! BE CAREFUL- Caller: Capital One (NOT)
- John| 1 replyThis number is legit - go to your account and look up the fraud number it's the same - I had my credit card stolen and a person called from this number claiming to be the person assigned to my account and when I called Capital One they confirmed the person and extension - I felt it strange that they asked to leave the full credit card information and SS# on voice mail when actually they only need the last 4 numbers of each to confirm - anyway, unless something else shady is going on the number is on the Capital One website, who knows these days anymore what is real and what isn't I guess - once you're scammed or a victim of fraud everything and everyone becomes suspicious.

it's legit- Caller: Capital One Fraud Number
- AnonymousThis number called me, left a voicemail about my recent fraud report. Told me the case was closed and they were sending me a letter regarding it. She didn't ask me for any personal information, so I highly highly highly doubt it was a scam.
Also, I know people are capable of "high jacking" company phone numbers. They make a phone call, and the caller I'd brings up a number that is NOT the one they are calling from. It happened at my work place.
Capital One is a high profile business, it's extremely likely that their phone number was high jacked, for all you people claiming your phone conversations with this number were "sketchy".
So that's all I've got to say about that.- Caller: Capital Ones
- KashThis is a legitimate number. They called from Capital One to followup on a fraud charge that had been under review.
- Caller: Capital One
- RBIt is a legitimate Capital One number however, if someone called you from this number – it’s probably a Spoofing scam! Spoofing is an act that shows a different phone number then the one the spoofer called from (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing). Never take for granted that the number on your phone is the number someone called from. Even if you think they’re legit – tell them you will call them back. And call only well published numbers.
- Caller: Capital One - maybe
- Dave replies to GeorgeGeorge is right. I just got a call and "checked it out". While I was reading it went to voice mail and the lady was just informing that the case was resolved and a letter was being sent.
- Caybun| 1 replyTHIS IS A SCAM!!!!
I received this call today and was suspicious because I called back and got to the voice mail of someone named "Rolanda" asking me to leave a full 16 digits cc number and my SSN. YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER give out your SSN to anyone. All the CC company already have your SSN when you applied for the card.
I just called Capital One's number and was told this is NOT legit.- Call type: Prank
- Jim replies to DibbyIt is legitimate. Had fraud against my credit card. They left a message advising a letter would be sent with a form to fill out.
- MinSomeone called me at 6 am, asking to talk to mr. Gonzales.I told you haved diall wrong number and then checked the number and dialed it ,it was Capital One Froud Department ! I hanged up, but i remained worried!
- Caller: Capital one
- NotAnIdiotI received a message on my voicemail from this number stating they were from Capital One fraud department and they had more information regarding a fraudulent claim I had placed (which had already been closed). I called back and was asked for my credit card number which I told them I did not have on hand and was asked for my social security number and birth date which should be red flags for anyone! I told them no and hung up. I also alerted Capital One to this contact I received in case it is connected to the charges that were put on my card in the first place.
- Caller: CAPITAL ONE
- Call type: Debt collector
- AuthenticOne replies to CaybunIt's a weak scam, and probably an inside job at capital one.
- DonnaGot a call from this number and did not answer. They did not leave a message. Looking at the remarks above I have to wonder as I did report a fraud claim to Capital one last week. I will be calling them to see if this is their number.
- Brandon LIt's legit. It's capital one's fraud department. I had recently made a claim and they called and left a msg saying my claim had been resolved, and if I had any questions call so and so at this#. Also said no further action was necessary on my part, so they weren't asking for anything. My roommate is a manager with capital one, so he can verify the legitimacy.
- Caller: capital one
- KelliThis is NOT the fraud department at Capital One it is a SCAM! Do not listen to stupid people trying to get you to give up your information. If in question go to the source. I called Capital One and they themselves said that is a fraudulent call.
DO NOT BE FOOLED!- Caller: A Scam saying they were Capital One
- Call type: Prank
- ChhunThis number is a legitimate Capital One number. I called the number on the site listed for fraud and talked to a representative. She cleared things up and also checked with the fraud supervisor that the number is indeed one of theirs. If you're unsure though, call the number on the card and go through the process to reach the right department. When in doubt, better to be safe than sorry. (March 30, 2016 - 11:00am PST)
- Caller: Capital One
- ButterflyIt is indeed a scam, when you call them, they request your name, address, ssnumber and credit card number. If they were legit, they would already have this info, AND, I called cap one and they checked and no one in Fraud had called us!!
- Caller: cap one
- Call type: Prank
- tracy replies to scamit is a legitimate # for Capital Ones fraud department. if you file a claim, this is the department for the investigators that handle your claim. When you file a claim, your card # is changed and the voicemail is asking for the old plastic, which isnt an active card # anyway.
- John| 1 replyI copied this from the Capital One Fraud Department Website. Judge for yourself. This number being discussed is a FRAUD!
