Report a phone call from 800-256-8964 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Sebastien Boisvert| 1 replyGot a call once from them on my cell phone I got about 9 months ago. Automated message that didn't sound very clear claiming they had tried to call several times without a response (only got the one call). The name I could make out I did not recongnize.
Called the number back and to be fair they were quick to address the issue after we mentioned the cell phone was new - it seems our ptovider recycles numbers and this was that individual's "old" number, which they removed from their list now.- Call type: Debt collector
- j c| 1 replythis is a collection agency called collectcents located in mississauga, ontario.no doubt lookin to collect on a unpaid bill.....

- collector| 8 repliesIt is in your best interest to return the call.. find out why they are calling.. and if it is a wrong number have them remove it.. we have a job to do. With the cell industry, people is always changing their numbers... Bottom line if you want the calls to stop.. address the issue do not ignore it.. come on " I have been getting these calls for a month.. " So you wait for a month then address the situation.. come on?
You do not have to be rude.. by law calls can start as early at 7 am... FYI - actnow| 3 repliesThis number belongs to a collection agency... they are there for a reason.. and if they are calling... call them back to find out why they are calling you...
They are there to help you with your credit rating.. get your acct out of collections and they know what they are talking about.. take the time to deal with the situation.. running away or ignoring the issues at hand will only come back to bite you in the ass... most accounts has interest rates...
Everyone needs credit.. fix your credit by paying your bills...take a settlement
offer.. or ask for one... but make sure you have the funds to do so..
If you do not have the funds to do so.. make pmts.. pmts cannot be refused!!!
Send in post dated chqs.. they do online banking with TD, Scoita, RBC, BMO... ask and you find out... - AnnoyedThis credit agency does NOT follow the rules outline in the Collection act:
The Collection Agencies Act prohibits collection agencies from doing certain things. They seem to think they can call you whenever they want. They are permitted under the act from contacting you until six days have passed from sending you written notice of the following: • the name of the creditor • the balance owing • the name of the agency and its authority to demand payment
Here is the companies major contacts, send them an email and complain about the agent that is breaking these rules.

smiller@collectcents.com - Jake Jarmel replies to actnowHow about this instead? When people call you and do not say who they are and what they want: DO NOT RESPOND!
This is my phone, not yours! If you paid the phone bills, then you can make the rules as to which calls you return or not.
If someone does not have the common decency to say who they are and what they want, then I would not waste my time! - John BeloggodIt's a collection agency, but they don't identify themselves as such when they leave messages. This is illegal. You only need to respond, legally, when they identify themselves. Also, you are allowed to tell them to contact you by mail ONLY. If they fail to comply, you can lodge complaints under the Debt Collection Act.

- Joeschmoe replies to collectorIf the person has no business with you, it shouldnt be up to them to spend thier valuabla time to explain to you they are the wrong person.
What if they get all sorts of incorrect calls like that? Like many in fact do.
Spend all thier free time confirming to you vultures it's the wrong person?
Get bent. - John Beloggod| 3 repliesGot yet another automated call from these guys at CollectCents/ Credit Bureau of Canada. I already told them to contact me by mail only, but they still call. As a result I have laid a complaint under the Debt Collection Act.

- Old Telephone guyDon't answer, don't respond & don't pay.
Tell your phone company you are getting 3 - 4 calls a day from a FAX machine that keeps beeping as soon as you pick up, or leaves 2-3 minutes of beeps on your voice mail (most annoying indeed!). Explain the calling number keeps comming up unknown or some 800 number that is never the same twice. Tell them this just started a couple of weeks ago, and if they can't help you block 800 or unknown/private numbers, then you would like to change your number to something new and unlisted which will cost an extra $2.00 on your monthly bill. Most service reps will issue a new number for free as the telephone providers are required to change you number at least once - for free - if you are getting harrasing calls (Its the CTRC & FCC law). That will save you the $50 - $65 dollar service charge, equal about 24 - 30 months of unlisted service.
Good luck.- Caller: any thug bill collectors
- The Facts replies to John Beloggod| 2 repliesThe absolute best way to deal with any debt collector to to simply ignore their calls, and block their number if you have that service. Talking with them is the worst thing that you can do. Debt collectors are the scum of the earth and should be treated as such.

a number of people have complained to the bureau about these people and apparently they have been charged a few times with harassment. - beingharassed replies to collectoryeh, well, your guys should not be calling people at 6 friggin am in the morning(which is illegal btw!!) and right off the bat, swearing at the person to pay a debt for no apparent reason.
