I called on Sept. 09,2009 - 11am (hawaii time), talked to a person. I had to find out why on my August/2009 Bank Statement is showing two payments taken out. First one: Acc't# 000000585740 00000001 Aug 7 @ 7:48pm of $57.48 and Second one: Acc't# 000000512089 00000001 Aug 20 @ 8:46pm of $57.48.
Please sent your reply in a letter on "Why you folks take out two pymts in one month?"  I was told by the person who rec'd my call, It was not showing on her pc. This is the second time! The first time I was credited with in a couple of weeks, of that double payment made by.  I seriously would cancel ALL MY SUBSCRIPTION TO YOUR MAGAZINE COMPANY.  Mahalo, Emma L. Wright

They've called me twice today and i've missed both calls.  Tried calling them back and i just get an answering machine. Help me please.

getting phone calls from this number I don't know who they are  I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau

These [***] called me at least 6 times i answer and no ones there wat the [***]!!!

I got a call from this number too. ?I was told that the payment was not due until 10/30/09. To my surprise I received a letter telling me that the money was already taken from my card.
I tried to called the number on the caller ID to cancel 225-289-6486  and was told the number was out of service. So I called the number at the top of the letter and was told to leave a message.
I want to cancel now!!!

Called to find out who was calling from this number and asked to be placed on the DO NOT CALL LIST.

they called and told me i could order magazines so i did and havent recieved them im thinking this is a fake bussiness. i got the letter showing my plan but i wanted to cancel online i typed in the e mail they sent me but nothing came up now my debit card is in the negative and i havent used it.. company name is Publishers Guide. info is Po. Just got called today, seemed pretty fishy to me as I've never subscribed to any magazine.  I didn't give them any info but I'm pretty preplexed as to how they got my name and address.

I've received these calls too.  They gave me the whole "how is the weather out there?" act, and then tried to tell me I was a loyal customer and they would like to renew my magazine subscription for free, only a "opportunity cost" of $4.99 per week (do the math folks, that adds up to $260 per year!) for some crappy magazines!! Problem is, I've never been suscribed to any magazine in my life.

...FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO GET BACK AT THEM: If you want to talk to somebody and all you're getting is the automated response when you call the number (800-259-1649) back, I believe you chose option 2 (that you're NOT a customer) and then select option 1 (that you're interested in their products/services).  This will put your through an actual person and you can give 'em a piece of your mind (much like I did yesterday).  Good luck!

Called me twice today. My phone dropped the first call. Second call the guy asked if I was receiving my magazines okay. I said I didn't get magazines. He said it might of been from past subscription during the last five years. Last subscription I had was four years ago and my phone number is new as of one year ago. So this appears to be either a scam or they use shady telemarketing approach. I asked to be removed from their calling list and he insisted it was a customer service call. I then threatened to report them to the FTC, he then agreed to remove my number from their list.

They called my child at University of Utah and tried to trick her into giving personal info.  They appear to be getting student info from school directories.  If you are a parent of a college student, call you child and remind them to NEVER give out personal info to anyone who calls.

Apparently they represent www.prizemenu.com a website which I couldn't find upon looking.

I received 4 calls so far from 800-259-1649. I spoke with Leonard Daily, Robert (the manager) and an African American girl last night. I received the first phone call 10 minutes before my night Ph.D. class. I asked them not to call during my class. They called back twice during my class - they didn't even say who it was - they just hung up after calling to disturb the class. They called again an hour ago, 9:30am, December 10th, 2009. I questioned them, saying that I was planning to call the police if they did not explain who they were. They are saying that they subtracted money from my account for magazines - I do not read nor order any magazines. They said the record goes back 5 years. When questioned about the exact names of the magazines, they said that they do not know - and that's because the names are in codes - they asked if I know what "04695" means. They told me their web address is www.publishersguide.com. This is a bogus site, and no Publishers Guide comes up as a real company on a Google search. A search through White Pages for the number does not give any results (at least not for free). I was transferred to Robert when I asked to speak with a manager. I asked him to have a manager who knows what "04695" stands for and who can explain why they took money from my account, have my contact information, but can't tell me with what function they are calling me, etc. I thought I would post this as I am waiting for the manager's call. I will probably call the police if they do not give me an explanation. I hope you guys will contact me at annafaktor@yahoo.com - if you are interested in filing a joint civil lawsuit.

The f**ker called me today and said that his company will take care of the existing subscriptions of the magazines that I have already subscribed for. When I asked him the details of the magazines that I subscribed for...he mumbled and said, it does not shows clearly in his screen. Then immeditely he proceeded to ask for payment information for like $19.XX per month for a full year subscription. Then I asked him again for the names of the magazines...he seemed to blink like an owl and silently disconnected the phone. First. I thought that was a technical problem and was about to call that number again. Then I searched the number 800-259-1649 in the internet and found a lot of scam reports on it and the thepublishersguide.com is not even a valid domain. So my sincere advice is

Don't fall into these promotional traps and the lurking thieves will make use of the holiday season
Do not answer any 800 number that is unknown to you and google it to see if there is something unusual about that number
Even if you answer, do not give personal information and ask a lot of questions
Have a safe and a happy holiday season and be aware of these roaches
