- USAA Member| 2 repliesIt is USAA Fraud Prevention Dept. It is an automated system/number. It will call back if it doesn't reach the person for whom it is looking. The automated calls are generated because some predetermined "trigger" alerts the system to possible fraud. We received a call today because my husband had an usually high charge (for his spending activity) come through from a School in the US, followed shortly thereafter by a charge from a Shopping Center in Canada. (These actually were his charges). I think the unusually high charge at the School in the US followed shortly thereafter by the "Out-of-Country" charge in Canada, triggered the alert.

- The GrinchIt's not a phishing scam, it is really USAA Fraud Prevention, so DON'T IGNORE IT. If you don't trust the caller ID number, call the number on the back of the credit card that the recording specifies (if you have different types of cards with them, only the office for the specified card will know about the alert).

- HeatherThey asked me for the last 4 digits on the back of my card. But forgot to mention which card it was so I was suspicious right away. When I called it back, it was an automated thing and once I got through to a person, they wanted my numbers on the front of the card as well as the back. Name birthday, No way.

- Don| 1 replyLong-time USAA member, but I was still skeptical. I stopped leaving info about mid-way, and called USAA to talk with a real person. She DID confrim it was really a valid USAA number, but said she completely understood my actions. Card had been "probed" on-line, so we cancelled it. Can't say enough good stuff about USAA -- been a member since 1972.

- Chris H.USAA fraud prevention. My credit card was probed for potentially larger purchases. Cancelled card and reissued the card. Thanks USAA.

- sidneyYes, it's USAA's credit card fraud department, and boy am I grateful to them for this service. They caught a fraudulent charge of more than $2,000. Bless them. THIS Is why I've remained a USAA member for 25 years.

- AnonSimilar to others here, I had a voicemail with this number, so I Googled the number which led me to this site. I called USAA back on their regular number, and "menu'd" my way to a credit card fraud person. She asked me to verify several purchases and said they wanted to confirm a purchase I had made at Sears the day before. Everything was in order, but I appreciate that USAA looks out for us...happy 22-year member!

- AnnThis is a legitimate call from USAA credit card to verify credit card purchases. I called the main USAA number (rather than answer the call) and they verified that they did place the call.

- YouPeople are saying this is a USAA number, but why when I put the number into Google and even USAA's search box nothing comes up? I called and it was indeed USAA. Why the number isn't listed on their website I don't know. You think it would be so people wouldn't have to turn to a website like this to get answers.
- JOR| 4 repliesThis is bogus. The people on here saying its real are in on the scam. DO NOT CALL OR GIVE INFO!

- USAA MemberUsed my USAA credit card to make a large purchase from an online retailer that I had never used before. Got a call from this number (USAA fraud prevention) about five minutes later to confirm that it was a valid charge. Definitely appreciate USAA being on top of things since this purchase was well outside my normal patterns. Also appreciate this site, which confirmed the call source before USAA had finished leaving the message.

- mendotaThis is the real USAA fraud number. Alerted me about a 500.00 charge made same day I got the call. I didn't make it. The call saved me a lot of trouble. Of course, have to get a new card, but thanks to USAA, I haven't been ripped off.

- kimbiwa replies to JORThis is the real USAA fraud prevention phone number. It is not bogus. I just called them myself to check, after seeing this number. They do an outstanding job of watching the backs of their customers, as far as I have seen. Good company.
- Syed HussainUSAA (Fraud Department)keeps me calling from this number and looking for David Robinson and Patricia Robinson. I have told them zillions of time; there is no such person; using this number but they do not believe me.

- BIt's [***]. Don't fall for it!
- Jason replies to JORThis person is incorrect. It is not a scam. It is also not the case that they ask for information that would allow them to use your credit card (number or security code.) They ask for your zip code and that is automatically matched with information they already have about your account. Following that, you are read a sequence of transactions and asked to verify their authenticity.
