I called the 1-800-254-4171 number in the comment here and a lady answered as Xentel customer service. After some playing around the bush about whether they were 1-800-307-3697 she said the other number calls to try to collect on pledges made to charities. I said we did not make any and she came up with an "outstanding pledge" to Amvets for $35 from October in my husband's name (which is the name the phone number is registered in". Since he absolutely won't answer unidentified calls and we never pledge anything over the phone, I felt confident in saying it was a scam. She argued with me a bit but then said she would cancel it "but it would take a few days to get us off the list." We'll see. Hope this helps you (and me).

Any of you that give your credit card or bank info to a stranger via the phone or internet are just plain dumb and I do not feel sorry for you at all. My husband is a retired police officer and these idiots previously called my house 3-10 x a week. Being on the do not call list will not help you. Charities and these morons can call you day or night, however if you can get them to give YOU their info, then you can sue them for harrassing phone calls.
All I tell them is that if they call again, I will record their number and take legal action in their states court(Yes, I would drive that far for a $10,000 per call fine)and if they continue to call my home after I have told them either verbally or in writing, they have violated laws.
IT WORKS EVERY TIME. "Just hanging up" the phone will not stop calls. TAKE ACTION and threaten them with LEGAL ACTION. And, to those of you that give your credit card  and bank info freely, you need to stop. Stop being so nice. If you want to donate money to the police, contact YOUR LOCAL police benevolent association or fire fighters or local breast cancer groups.

For the last three weeks this number has been calling at least twice a day and at least once between 7 & 9 pm every day. When my daughter answers the phone they ask for me. When she tells them that I am at work, they hang up.  They never leave a message, so we stopped answering the phone when the number shows up.  It's becoming annoying.  You would think if they were trying to raise money for a charitable organization, they would leave a message.

I get a call from the number 800-307-3697 at least 5 times a day.  They have been known to call past 9:00pm MST. I called my phone company and I have on my service what is called call rejection.  If this is annoying I would recommend calling your phone company and have it added. If you have multiple services through your phone company now you may already have it.  Dial *78 enter your ID if you haven't used it before it is 1234# then it has you set up your own ID. Then you press 2 to start call rejection.  Enter the # that keeps calling and it should stop the calls from coming in.  I don't know if it works yet I just started it today about a half hour ago!!

This number calls 3-4 times a day.  When my husband picks up they never answer, and I have learned not to answer when I see the number on the phone.  They never leave a message.  I wish they would stop bothering us, as it is getting very annowing.

I think these people are looking for monies we are told we pledged
(we did not) So I now give the phone to our baby boy and he tells all kinds of stuff like "duden dudend duoodaaa,naa anna" The are kinda funny some even repeat the sounds back. Good for a laugh.

Interesting that this appears to be an American company and they are calling me in Alberta.  I have started using call blocking which blocks the last number called. AAAAhhhh - MUCH better!

It is on behalf of police Charity.......asking for my credit card info.....which I never give over the phone.......very persistant 3 times now around 7.15 in Nova Scotia.

They keep calling all hours of day and night.  Ask for my daughter and when I ask who it is they hang up.  They need to stop.  They need to be reported.

I wish the calls would stop; they are annoyng. I woon't answer unless they leave a message that really pertains to me.

We also get this call all the time - with dead silence.  I think they are validating numbers.  A few months ago I called back talked to a real person (sounded like the same doof that you presently hear on their message) and told them to take me off the list.  Lately they are calling again 3-10 times per day.  Now when you call the 18003073697 number they tell you to call 18002544171 - that number states that the office is closed for "system maintenance"  and will re-open May 19th.  On the bright side, thats only 11 Months away.

ridiculous.  constantly calling at all hours, usually hanging up once anyone answers.  Once a lady asked for my wife, when I pressed for details she said it was for 'Vietnam Veterans'.  I  asked her to remove us from call list and she hung up.

I've never received so many freakin calls from one number!!! I swear they've been calling every single hour of the day this past week and shows no sign of ending anytime. In fact, as I write this comment, the phone is ringing displaying their number.

This number is a total fraud.  While I was out of town, someone at this number called my wife, who tends to be overly polite to people. They told her they were raising money for the "Chief of Police" for an Identikid program.  She told them that she would be happy to look at any information that they would send to us by mail.  The person on the phone insisted that she make a payment right away over the phone, by credit card.  She said, no she wouldn't do that.  So they said they would send something to her, and asked "how much" they should put down for the amount.  She said she didn't know.  So that then counted as our "pledge" to this fraudulent organization.  Since then we have been plagued with calls.  I just called their "customer service" line and had the exact same conversation as Brad above.  The woman claims we will be off their list in a few days.  We'll see!

they call me 5-7 times a day, and do not answer after I pick up. I called the 800-254-4171 number and they told me I had an outstanding pledge that I had paid late, but had paid about month ago. I then told her to permanently take me off their phone list and I considered their calls harassment. She said she would do so immediately. 10 minutes later I got another call from 3697 and for the first time in some 80-100 calls, there was actually a person on the phone. I answered and said calmly to stop calling me. The guy on the line started on about how he would be happy to if I would meet my pledge. I cut him off and said it was taken care of. His response was to take a very snotty attitude - "Will you step up and honor your pledge?" When some weasel on the phone calls me and starts scolding me, I thought my head was going to explode. When I tried again to tell him that my pledge had been honored and to stop calling, he raised his voice and tried to talk over me. I then firmly told him to shut up and quit calling, and hung up on him. I will keep being rude to 3697 callers if there is anyone on the phone, and will follow up with the 4171 number when I have time to kill. I am also going to start asking charities that call if they do work with Xentel, and if they do, I will stop giving to those charities. I know now that Minnesota Professional Firefighters gets no money from me, and neither does Children's Leukemia Research - because of Xentel. Nice job, Xentel
