- AlanI received a call from this number, they asked me to confirm my card numbers.
- TinmanI just received a call from this number. I called them back and they asked for my wife. They wanted to verify transactions made on my debit card. It just so happens my wife used my card last night. They did'nt ask for any information other than her name and our telephone number. My particular call was probably legit since my wife hasn't used my card in a year or so. Believe me , I'm as wary as the next person with these everyday scams. But this is 1 out of 100 that I think was real.

- SueMessage said agents of Redstone Federal Credit Union. They believed there were fraudulent charges being made to my sons debit card. Called Redstone and verified they had contracted with this group. They verified it was their agent. We called them back and learned several airline tickets had been charged to his debit card. They cancelled the transactions and froze the card.
- D.B.This was a legitimate call. Received a call from this number and answered - did not catch the name of the person calling, but they stated they were representing Star Network, contracted by Northwest Bank (indeed my bank) for fraud detection. They reported six large transactions on the other side of the country made the night before which I didn't make. Called Northwest and confirmed with them that the fraudulent transactions had been made, closed the card, filed dispute resolution, etc. Thankful that they called! I have received similiar calls from this number before to verify transactions I had made.

- DanThis is legit. My credit card got flagged/frozen because of my pattern of transactions: $4 at the grocery store, then $600 online an hour later. Apparently this pattern is common among identity thieves -- they'll test out the card number on something small, and when it works, then they go for the big stuff. So even though the purchases were mine, they looked suspicious, so they were double-checking to make sure I was the one buying them. I'm glad they did.

- David In AustinI think this is in fact legit. She didn't ask me for any information other than my name, and she told me where I had used the card and what my bank was. I had her tell me my information, and she walked me through all of my card uses for the last 4 days. The increased activity triggered the fraud check. I am going to check with Prosperity Bank in the morning and will give an update, but this SEEMS to be a legit fraud protection service. BB&T in Virginia also did this when we lived there, but it was in house. This appears to be a contractor that performs the same service for Prosperity Bank, and it can be a valuable tool in keeping people from using your card or just your number.

- PMThey called me at 9 am, left an automated voicemail about transaction that I made on my debit card. I went to check my transaction online and there it was, a transaction I didn't make. I called them back, they asked for my number and verify my name, then went through a list of things I purchased the past few days which everything seems correct except that one from shanghai. She then put my debit card on hold and told me to call my bank to get a new card. I'll call my bank tomorrow and see what happens.

- JonathanLegit call. After reading some of these posts, I called them back. They asked for my name and phone number than told me about some transactions in my bank. I just certified and they said have a good day
- EileenIts legitimate, I received a call today and all they asked for was my name and verify a few purchases made with my debit card. Once I confirmed the charges were fraudulent, they asked me to go directly to my nearest branch and have them freeze the account. Sure enough when I got to my bank, the fraudulent charges were there. The branch manager explained that this is a company that calls on behalf of VISA. So if you get a call from these guys, call them back because there is a pretty good chance you're a victim of fraud!
- GregkThis is a legit call. I contacted my credit union and they said it was, in fact, a service they use and it was OK to call them back. They even told me what charge was the probably trigger and they were correct. All the company asks for is to verify the phone number they called and your name. After that they read off the suspect charges to verify you made them and that is it.

- AngelThis is a company that verifies activity on debit cards. I made an unusual purchase today and they called me within a half hour to verify that it was legitimate.

- Pencil LadyI received a call from a woman saying her name was Suzanne from 630-990-5040. She spoke very fast. I believe she said she was calling about my "web" (I don't have a website or webpage). She asked that I call her back at this number.... 1-800-323-8622 and gave me her hours for tomorrow. I'm not calling back, but wanted others to be aware of this number also callling out from a 630 area code, which is just west of Chicago.
- SuspiciousI got a message from an unknown number saying they are representing my bank (merchants) the message was for my husband and to call this number to verify recent transactions. I will be verifying with my bank before I tell my husband to call. Why would any legitimate business be calling from an unknown number? Seems way to weird to me.
- SueReceived a phone call from this number made by a person named Tony. He was calling about a possible fraud on my card. I then called my bank and talked to someone from security. Security said this call is actually with Visa Debit Card which is used by many banks. The call is not coming from the bank employees even though Tony used my bank's name. We did have one transaction which would've thrown a red flag for Visa. I must say, Visa needs to find another way to handle this than calling using the banks name. If I receive another call like this I'll do the same thing..call my bank's security department and verify first.
- DHAn automated message stated my name and list my bank and said I needed to call this number to verify debit charges. The incoming number was blocked from caller ID.
I know from past experience that my bank just deactivates my card and waits until I get embarrassed by having my card denied and make me physically go into a branch to fix the problem if they decide my dental or bill payments are fraudulent. - mad momCall came up unknown and wanted to speak with my son regarding some charges on his debit card. His card is with equitable.
I called my bank and they said they don't do this. - bmbnumber called me, didn't answer, was in the theater, called my bank directly, after 10 mins of checking they said it was bs. DO NOT TRUST this number.
- Caller: unknown - didn't say
- coopObviously they have started again. Called Sunday. ID 'OUT OF AREA' BUT NO NUMBER.
a BANK TRANSACTION FOR "SPENCER ?" This number was left on voice mail.

- Patricia Ambrouso| 1 replyI did contact my bank by calling the number on the back of my bank card - they advised me that yes they did indeed have them call and do a security check to be sure that I was in fact the person making the transactions on my bank card. It is a security measure they are taking and probably trying to keep on top of things since the Target breach. I am happy my bank is on top of things - They advised me that they will not ask for any personal information such as bank account, social security number, address, but they will verify the number the message was left on and your name. Just wanted to give you all some positive feedback so you don't have to worry - but still you may want to stay safe and call the number on the back of your card to be sure.
