I received an email saying they needed more info to complete my application. I too called discover because I  did fill out an application.  They had all my info and said email must have been a mistake.

This is the Discover Card application follow-up department.  It seems that I was turned down online so I went over to Capital One application site and was approved while Discover sat on their decision.
Discover won't be calling me back.

Went to discover site and emailed agent. Yes, that number is legit. Someone submitted a phony application in my name but nothing could be gotten as my credit files are frozen. Agent just asked for name and address, birthday, obviously they had my phone number. Told me application to be marked as fraud, they will send me follow up letter.  The fraudulent application will be released to me to take to the authorities if I sign release of information document. Lost my wallet last Monday and homeless bum picked it up. No surprises here.

Received call from 800-347-3072 requesting a callback concerning a ""David"". No one by that name  lives here. Did not return the call. Discerned this was very likely a complex 'phishing' scam attempting to obtain personal information by default. Or some one was using my phone number/address to try to open up, or construct a  fraudulent credit card account.

Obvious shill is obvious.  This is not Discover. Do not trust calls from this number. Scammers can spoof the numbers and names that show in your caller ID.

Someone called from  (800) 347-3072 stating they were from discover.  Called multiple times and got the same person acting like they were in two different call centers. It’s a scam.

I received a call. They said that someone tried to open a Discover Card account. They were verifying whether it was or wasn't me. I told them I did not. They did not ask for personal information, only my address. Is this legitimate? Discover and this phone number was on the Phone ID.

100% scam. Going back to 2008 there are posts about this being a phishing scam. Name and numbers that show in your caller ID can be faked (spoofed).
Sometimes scammers will cut a call without asking a lot info, simply because they are looking for a victim with a certain profile. They like single mom's and older people that can be easily confused.

Got a call like this today to both a cell and home number. Call got blocked on the home phone as spam. Also received a text message. This forum is confusing as half the people say it’s a real number and the other half say it’s not.

Easy to be confused, this is a large and well run scam. One way to know is that Shills have been here saying the calls are OK. The posts that show "post pending moderator approval" were from shills.

There is an outside change the phone number is one of Discover Cards numbers, but numbers and names that show in your Caller ID can be faked - Spoofed.

This is a Phishing Type Scam.

Based on the posts and that your phone carrier labeled the calls as spam,  Do Not Trust Calls from this Number.

It’s a scam. I called Discover with the number I have used to contact Discover for over a decade. They confirmed that they made no attempts to contact me. My advice is when in doubt never give out your personal info. My guess is they already have some info on who they contact but need to fill in the blanks on info they don’t have yet. Don’t help them out. My first clue was my spam blocker app blocked their call.

My spouse received a call saying that they were trying to contact me and that it was not a solicitation call.
I have never had a Discover card and never intend to.   The call back number was 800-347-3072.   I wish that law enforcement would protect us from this kind of scam activity.   Don't EVER give any information to anyone on the phone !

This must be going around again. Same scam. Same number. On one law firm it shows up as a legit number! Wrong!!! How do we stop these mfrs!

I have gotten several calls (unanswered) from a woman claiming to be from Discover, saying "this is not a solicitation call" then asking me to call back with a certain numerical code.  Did not call her back, called number on back of Discover card and found no problems.
