This numbers call about activity on Wells fargo visa card and we dont have one

this is a legitimate number-not a scam. Wells Fargo Fraud.  They stopped 2 fraudulent charges and closed my account-sent me a new card 1 week later.  I did not have to give them my credit card number only verify my mailing address and zip code, and verified my name.

It is a legitimate call from Wells Fargo Fraud Department. The recording asks you to verify by entering your billing zip code. I got the call after making several purchases on the same day that were out of the ordinary for me. The recording tells the amount and the category of the purchase (supermarket, pet store, etc.) and asks you to press 1 if you made the purchase. Even though these were legitimate, I'm glad they check. If it had been someone else using my card or account, I would have known the same day.

Thanks Craig.  I did call the number on the back of my card. Wells Fargo said they called. Turns out I booked a vacation to the tropics on my card and they wanted to confirm since it was a large transaction in a foreign country.

Legit call from Wells Fargo.  Called twice, once with message, one no message.
I called the number on the back of my credit card and got through to customer service.

They had called to inform me that they were blocking a charge to my credit card.  Charge was not mine and my card had been hacked.

If you get a call from this number, call credit card services.

This is fraud i dont even have a WF card and they call me all the time why would they call me if it wasnt fraud

I just received a call from this number and the Bank directly on another number.  They did verify it came from the fraud dept.  and identified a suspicious charge made today on my account.  Now, it certainly could be a recurring membership, but it did not ring a bell.  

This is Wells Fargo, but I would recommend if you get a call, use a number that you know is correct, from the back of your cards or your online account.

I got a voice mail saying they were wanting to verify a transaction on my Wells Fargo credit card. I didn't call the number they gave, but got the customer service number from the WF website and called them.  It was a valid call.

Some one call to my cell phone asking for one of my relatives, stating was from Wells Fargo Bank and my relative needed to call back to the Fraud Prevention department and give me this number to call.
I checked WF bank 800 #'s but not one was as the number I am reporting. So I suspected and check it online, then i found that other people had got the same fishing call form this number.

I received a call from this number earlier today saying it was Well Fargo Fraud Dept. I hung up and checked my account; sure enough I had fraudulent charges. I logged off my account and logged back in a few minutes later and had a note on my credit card saying it was temporary blocked and that I needed to call customer service. I called the number on the back of my card and told them what happened. I never asked if this number was Wells but I figure its too weird for it not to be. They caught charges before they even posted to my account--so fast. I wouldn't enter my acct info and ssn through the number that calls you but instead call them yourself. Also, if you're saying you think its fraud because you don't have a Wells card you might want to do some investigating...maybe someone opened a card under your name? Thats too weird for Wells to call you if you don't have an account with them. I'd definitely call them or pull up your credit report.

Received the call and was concerned - called Wells Fargo directly - and it was TRUE.  My credit card had been compromised!  This is legit!

August 2014: This 800 "toll free" vmail from "Wells Fargo" Fraud....  I didn't call the number back BUT I did call the number on the back of my card and indeed Wells Fargo had block a sale at WalMart for $600+ dollars.  I was there shopping yesterday but my total cost was $69.00.  So, I had to cancel the card.  I agree with other people, pay attention to the incoming fraud alert, but call the the Customer Service number on your card.

Update:  After my call to Wells Fargo regular customer service to block the card, I call the 800 "Fraud" number and it really was wells fargo. They verified a few other legitimate transactions that confirmed I had a WF person.  The bad transaction was out of state and a $$ high amount combo that flagged the transaction.

Message on my answering machine from 800-446-0664.... Wells Fargo Fraud Line....I verified their number via the Internet...It's legit !  They wanted to verify a purchase I made about an hour earlier.... I had purchased a computer... $1,000.00+  item.... Good service !

I WORK FOR WELLS FARGO and don't believe the posts that state the number is legit. It's the scammers themselves. Call the number on your card or the CS number on your statement ONLY!

They called me yesterday. They wanted my account number and social security number - but why would they want or need this information -?- ESPECIALLY SINCE I'M NOT A WELLS FARGO CARD HOLDER -?

I have been making frequent purchases on an app and so they were suspicious. Good to know they are checking up on their clients.
