Number left a message which was partially mangled voicemail.  After the advice here I called the 'real' Wells Fargo fraud number and it turned out that they had, in fact, been trying to reach me.

I received a call from this number on my cell which is not where I usually receive calls from Wells Fargo.  They said they were calling about a credit card but I don't have a credit card with Wells Fargo just savings and checking.  I called Wells Fargo's real number from their website and they said that 800-446-0664 is NOT a Wells Fargo number.  They said not to call that number back. I assume the folks who are posting here the number is for real are the scammers. If you are concerned by the fraud alert call a Wells Fargo number you can trust.

So some posters report this is legitimate, others say they get calls even though they don't have a Wells Fargo card -- how can that be? Simple -- Caller ID can be spoofed, so the legit calls can be legit from Wells Fargo and the others can be from a fraudster.  Bottom line is that you can't trust Caller ID, technology allows a fraudulent caller to send whatever caller ID they want.

Got a call from this number in the afternoon. After having my credit card number stolen a few years ago, I wasn't going to take any chances so I called an official number on the Wells Fargo website (800-869-3557) and asked to speak to someone from the Fraud department. I told him about the call and he verified that was a legitimate number. I did not see any suspicious activity on my online statement but he said on his end, it showed that Chevron charged me a large amount when I pumped gas yesterday to make sure I had the funds. That is what triggered the 'suspicious activity.'

It never hurts to call an officially posted number and ask about another number that called you. Either go online and make sure it's the official Wells Fargo site or any other bank if you find yourself in a similar situation or call the number on your actual card. They will be able to verify for you!

I absolutely love Wells Fargo, they have treated me so well for the past 5-6 years from freezing my account when my credit card number was actually stolen and sending me new cards during that whole Target scam. AWESOME BANK/COMPANY.

I doubt these people are Wells Fargo. Could hardly even understand the lady I called back at this number. There was no weird activity on my account either in the past few days. That 800-446-0664 number isn't even on their site. I believe people who claim this number is actually Wells Fargo are in on the scam.

I received several calls from 800-446-0664. They left one message saying they were with Wells Fargo Fraud dept and to call back. After reading the comments on here, I called the CS # on the back of my card. They confirmed they were trying to contact me regarding a $2000 charge to my card that morning! I then noticed one other $25 charge 4 days prior that wasn't mine. My account has now been closed. Thanks Wells Fargo for catching this one!!! It IS a valid Wells Fargo Fraud Dept. number. However, for peace of mind, I would always recommend calling the # on your card instead.

Its a legitimate fraud warning call by Wells Fargo, They catch fishy transactions before you even realize they were done by you.

This number 800-446-0664 is Wells Fargo Visa card fraud protection.  They left an automated voice mail message stating my full name and needing to confirm transactions.  My card was stolen last night, and used today at a gas station.  WF flagged the transaction.  Their algorithms must be getting better.  Of course, I never spend $100 at a gas station.  Must have been a big tank to fill.  (I'm posting this in all of the who-called phone number sites just to make sure everyone sees that it is legit)

Got a call today from 800-446-0664 today. No message was left. I researched the number and read y'all's posts. I called the Wells Fargo number on the back of my card and they did, in fact, try to call me today. All of the charges on my account were legitimate, AND, the total of four purchases were less than $30.00. What may have flagged the charges was one from a Chinese Co. selling on eBay. The amount of that transaction was $1.48 USD! The holiday season may have contributed to their concerns. Happy holidays to all of you and to WELLS FARGO!

Some of you may have legitimate fraud concerns, regarding 800-446-0664; through possible spoofing - but the number was apparently a legit Wells Fargo call in my case. Just call the WFargo # and see if they say they really called you. Remember, for better or worse, this is the holiday season.

This is Wells Fargo Fraud like others have stated. I called back the Main CC number and they confirmed after looking up my account. I had made a charge out of the country over the internet which tripped the fraud meter. They were going to place a freeze on the card so I'm glad I called back.

I am not in on the scam. To confirm all you need to do is call back the Wells Fargo Credit Card Number on the back of your card and ask if anyone tried to call you. Do not call back the # from caller ID - call the main Credit Card #. In my case the call was legitimate and was over some overseas charges I recently made.

It is a scam. I called Wells Fargo and they usually do not call, they email about Fraud. And this number isn't on their site anywhere.

Received a call and a voice mail from this number saying it was Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention.  I did not answer or call the number back.  The number came up as Unknown Name, so I checked the Wells Fargo website and this number is listed nowhere.  Decided to Google the number to see if others got the same calls or messages and came across this, but it seems several people believe it's a legitimate number while few believe it is not.  I went back on the Wells Fargo website and called the customer service line for personal banking that was listed.  They asked for the number and said this IS NOT their fraud prevention number and asked if I called the number and gave them any information.  She also said everything looked normal on my account, which I had also checked myself online before calling.  Always safe to be sure.

Get a call and they hang up when we pick up to say hi. Many times my wife has gotten a call from this number. Is there a way to block it on her phone? Thanks for your assistance with this concern and make it a great day.

Don't know, don't answer calls from "unknown" unless I'm expecting a call.

Third time in two days, didn't answer and usually don't answer calls from unknown.

4 calls in two days, I don't answer "unknown" calls, an I have never had a Wells Fargo account of any type. Scammers, Fraudulent Fraud Protection!!!
