    Hi!
I'm writing this email because I'm having hard time with North Side Collections Hollis Cobb Associates, calling me from 800-489-2854. I had radiotherapy as a part of my cancer treatment in northside, cancer center. They did not mention anything about the cost of this treatment. After I completed this step I received a bill about $38000 total and my part is about $1600. My insurance has already paid its side. I was just going back to work after several times being in medical leave, I contacted business office. I did not agree with $100 monthly paiment. I can hardly gain these days $1200/month. Finally they escalated this to their collector. And nightmarre started. I agreed with $100/m and let them widraw automatically on 28th each month. They call me each month several times and threatening collection on this debt being paid. This month They sent a bill and when I called them their representative pushed me to pay directly on the phone. I had the promise of the representative that automatic withdrawal won't take place this month. She said call was tapping. After this withdrawal on feb 26th, they als took out $100 on feb 28th. I can hardly manage my life with this little money I gain these days. If I could predict this would be  consequence of my treatment I would skip it for sure.

Write these people a "drop dead" letter (google it) within 30 days of when you first recieve notice from them. Tell them NOT to contact you by phone again. Send it certified/return receipt. Then if they do call again, its a violation of federal law and they can be prosecuted.

I get at least one call a day from robo "Angie" at Hollis Cobb and Associates. (http://www.holliscobb.com) My number apparently once belonged to a patient at Northside Hospital named Stephanie Herbert. I have called five times in the past two months to this 800 number and each time have requested that my number be removed. Each time, I am told that the number will be removed, but inevitably... I continue to get these calls. If you ask for a manager or supervisor, they get real testy and defensive. I think that their operators are home based workers or something. The "drop dead" letter is my next step. Thanks for that suggestion Scott.

Received two calls from this number and both times it was a recording with a lot of static. I hung up both times as I don't have the time to waste listening to a recording, especially one that I can barely hear.

These people are crazy.  My daughter had to go to the Northside emergency room in Feb 2009 and her bills were paid by aetna and I paid all the co pays. I get this phone call from these people demanding $238. I asked the person what it was for and he said for date of service 2/23. I told him to send me an itemized bill to show where I owed them the money and he said I don't have to I am a law firm and I am demanding that you pay. I asked him if he had lost his mine.  That I wasn't going to pay anyone money that I didn't owe and I just hung up on him.

Yes, it appears that this is a pre-recorded message, with the callers names alternated each week, just to mix things up a bit, (although they do like using female names that start with the letter "A" ;-)

Have no idea why they are calling. Have never recieved a letter about why they are trying to contact me. When I do answer the phone there is never a live person on the phone to talk to. Never do I return calls unless I know what they need.

So Obamawillpay do you also consider your ancestors creatures what were they Irish dutch German British Canadian. I mean they came from somewhere the only people that have any right to complain about things in this country are native Americans native Canadians and native Mexicans not those that came from Spain Germany Ireland Russia China. All of us but those native are immigrants I agree on the fact that there are illegal immigrants that either need to become legal or go back to their country till they can do this legally but the way that you talk about this just proves how naive Americans are when it comes to legal and illegal immigrants.

Ok folks.  Seems that hospitals are automatically using collection agencies to collect any amount due them OR any amount that might not even be due them just because you walked into their doors.  You can send a certified letter to them that states your rights...which is to FIRE them.  Look up the Federal laws that protect you.  They can no longer call, write or anything once you send a Cease and Desist letter.  IF they do, then report them.  All this information is on the internet.  From now on...ANY medical service such as an MRI or CT scan recommended by your lovely doctors which are all in on it, DO NOT use the hospital.  Use a private imaging place.  For instance, my husband had a CT scan which cost almost 15k at the hospital and I had the same one for 500 dollars at a private imaging service.  He owes 3 times what I paid in cash...and he has full insurance and now...dealing with having to fire the collection agency and the hospital WILL accept payments but won't work with you on making a payment schedule...which means, you can keep them off your credit report yet you will be making payments for a while directly to the hospital.  It is a scam and as previously stated by someone, this is all about illegals and people who do not pay their bills...with inflated costs passed onto those of us that just need to be taken care of while sick and those of us with insurance.  My doc told me that one freaking aspirin can cost $100. at a hospital.  Always take your own pain meds, aspirins, whatever and you have to sneak them in the hospital because they WANT to charge you a ridiculous amt while there.  Private hospitals?  I dunno...they may do it too.  This country needs REPUBLICANS back into office BUT those that realize where the changes need to happen.  No wonder people are in debt and no wonder this country is in the shape it is in.  THE TEA PARTY is our only answer at this point in time.

We no longer have debtors prisons.  Tell them to get a life.  Seriously.  You can pay them  as little as 10 dollars a month and it will show you are trying.  I either dont answer or if I do I hang up.  Dont let them bully you.

    1. Close your checking account and open a new one elsewhere (preferably with a credit union). Do not let these predators get any more of your money.

    2. Write the hospital administrator or their board of directors and tell them what happened, and your complaints against Hollis Cobb Associations.  Keep a copy of your letter.  When I wrote the hospital I told them I suspected someone at the hospital was getting a kick-back from Hollis Cobb, or they wouldn't be doing business with a firm that has an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau.

    3. Ignore Hollis Cobb Associates calls--block them, if you can--and threatening letters. (But save the letters.)  They will huff and puff, but they can't do anything.
