They call on a continual basis at all hours. They did leave a message and a callback number on a couple of occasions.I called back to verify it was them and received a message they were closed on two calls. On the third call I was put on hold and eventually was told to leave my information and they would call back. I was back to where I started and blocked their number. If it is really them they can notify me by mail or come to the door and I will gladly do their survey. The number I called was Stats Canada but who is to say the number on my call display was.Sure they gave a real callback number but probably knew I would never get through as this is a government agency.I will never do a survey over the phone from this point on!

Fed Up with Morning Phone Call
#1 - no one is "required by law" to answer the telephone if they don't want to answer the telephone.  #2 No one is required by law to phone anybody back they don't trust, and no body needs to call back a random person who calls at random times and wakes them up day after day at the same time of the day.  #3 These are obviously robocalls, and you have no obligation to talk to a computer that might collect personal data.  Telephone soliciting and poll taking has become the new "NO GO ZONE" for business and government, and it's time they all woke up and realized it.  Block the number.

This is a real call from Stats Canada.  You can check here https://www.statcan.gc.ca/eng/survey/household/5179d#a2 to see the number.  Just call them back if you like to answer a rather extensive survey about whatever topic they are asking about.  Record the Survey Number if they leave it on your answering machine.  Community Health and personal health surveys help to bring in proper services to your postal code.  In some cases if they did not have your mailing address at first  you will not have received the paper confirmation, but they should confirm your legal or rural address.

    Not in Canada
For those saying it’s illegal not to answer their questions is so asinine. I don’t live in Canada so I am not under their rule of law. To be honest, if they want to take me to Canada and arrest me, I might be okay with that based off the current political climate here in the US.

Don't live in a totalitarian state.
Called me at work. Told me I had to answer questions by law. I said "How do I even know you are from the government?" She said she would give me some employee number and a way to check it. I said I was not willing to do that on my employers time and that they cannot order me around to do things on my bosses time.

I do not live in a totalitarian state. replies to Statistics Canada employee
Why not "slander" them? They are behaving horribly! How can I trust that the call is coming from the government? They have snail mail contact information for my business. I am not being paid by my boss to check on THEIR identification! NOBODY can force you to answer questions from some random phone operator! Foolishness!

I do not live in a totalitarian state
I have left an anonymous email at Stats Can. I told them exactly what happened and that I did NOT have to answer any questions from some random phone operator while at work! AND that I have blocked their number!

Nope. This is not mandatory, not the health survey anyways. Please go to the Stats Canada website to see yourself.
    Do I have to participate?

Participation in the Census of Population and the Census of Agriculture is mandatory pursuant to the Statistics Act. All Canadian households must complete a Census of Population questionnaire. All farm operators are required to complete a Census of Agriculture questionnaire.

If Statistics Canada contacts you for the Labour Force Survey, a business survey or an agricultural survey, you are also obligated to participate pursuant to the Statistics Act.

For other Statistics Canada surveys, participation is voluntary.

they have been harrassing my business at lunch time.  I told them send me a verified letter in the mail to prove they are who she says they are.  She insisted on my email address-   I repeated myself.  If they have my name and phone number- they have my address.   snail mail me.

Well, considering those links are clearly 7 years old, I would not be surprised to find out that they don't work anymore.
