Then the BBB has it wrong.  If you call the number you will reach Wells Fargo.  If you still suspect it, go talk to a Wells Fargo Branch.

WELLS FARGO BANK HAS SLB MARKETING CONTRACTED TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO THEIR WELLS FARGO CUSTOMERS.  WHEN RETURNING CALLS THE PARTY ANSWERS AS "WELLS FARGO BANK".  CALLING THIS NUMBER IS GENERALLY ASSOCIATED WITH WELLS FARGO ONLINE BILL PAY CUSTOMERS HAVING QUESTIONS ABOUT ONLINE TRANSACTIONS.

Yes, you are right, and I got that WF number right off of the wells fargo website - to call to reset your account password - yes, it's legit.  They WILL ask for certain verification info, but not enough that any hacker could crack your account using the sketchy info they ask which only serves to protect your account access from anyone trying to act like you who might call them.  Yes, they ask for your last four in your SS# but do not ask your password - you put that in yourself when you go back to the WF website.Legit all the way.

It IS Wells Fargo - just go to their website to verify that it is their number to call to reset your password for your account access.

I received a call on 10/28/2010 and they asked me about my WellsFargo account.  They wanted me ot to verify my social security number.  I didn't give it to them.  Instead, I mentioned, I'd call WellsFargo back, and asked that she leave notes on my account about the reason for her call.  After callings WellsFargo back, they mentioned that there was no reason for them to call me.  That there were no notes on my account, and that they had a "no call" feature listed with my account (meaning that they wouldn't call me).  Be careful!

I just received a call from this number and a woman identified herself as Regina from the Wells Fargo Fraud Department. She immediately stated that the call would be recorded and that she would need to verify some information with me regarding my account. I told her that while I was happy to call her back, I would not be providing any personal information as she had initiated the call.  The call was then disconnected.  I called my personal banker at WF immediately to report the call and verify its legitimacy.  Be careful!

Wells Fargo shouldn't be calling you for any reason.  If they need you to verify or change anything on your account, it can be done through the mail or email.

Any and all of you. This IS a fraud attempt. I went to a Wells Fargo branch that said it WAS a real Wells Fargo number (apparently) however they seemed about as confused as I was. i have NEVER opened any kind of account online or otherwise with them and the first thing the person asked me was my social. iTt may be a real wells fargo number they are using, but it is definitely not Wells Fargo.

Looks to me like these scammers are getting smart about sites like WhoCallsMe. Looks like they log on to add entries making it look like it might be legit... and maybe people should answer the number.

They want to confuse you. NEVER answer this number. If Wells Fargo wants to communicate with you they will do so through the US Mail.

This is a Wells Fargo number - I've been a customer of theirs for years.  However, this is a number for you to call into for various services - debit card, direct deposit advance, anti-fraud (apparently, I've never used this # for that), etc.  Having also been called by Wells Fargo for various reasons, I can say that this is NOT the number they've used to contact me.  My bet is that some scammers have gotten creative about using legit numbers as spoofing targets, so that you come on to a site like this and see conflicting information.  By and large, the remedies to the situation all show up in preceding posts... my two cents is the idea that these two things can be true at the same time:  the number is legit, AND it is being used as a target for scammers/phishing.  Calls to this number seem OK, calls from this number are I think highly suspect.

    NOT a Wells Fargo Customer
Someone was calling on my mobile number, and since I get very few 800 or toll free calls on my mobile (with the exception of the wireless service itself), I decided to run it through whocallsme.com. Glad I did, even though I'm not a Wells Fargo customer and have never been.

Just received an email informing me that my Wells Fargo Bill Pay funding account for QuickBooks or Quicken has been closed and I should call this number.  I don't have such an account.  Tracing the email it looks like it might come from Wells Fargo, but they are using yahoo and prodigy for routing the email.

Got a call from this #. Asked about my ssn and said that this call going to be recorded. I told him, I dont have an account with wells fargo, how come you are calling. He put me on hold for sometime and then in 2minutes said go to the branch and tell them to give a call to this no. 866-867-5568..

The call is from Wells Fargo #, but that guy is not Well Fargo person. He is hacking the # to call people, trying to get information.

Play with him giving wrong information, and let him catch us if that is wrong.
