I have no doubt that they are collecting money for a charity...and likely legit. The one thing to know about phone requests for money is that the actual charity will only see about 20% of any donation. I WILL NOT give to anyone calling to solicit money.

Unless you actually answer the phone and specifically request to be added to their DNC list, filing a complaint against them will do absolutely nothing, even if you are all ready on the National Do Not Call... While they are a private telemarketing firm named Corporations for Character (which by the way, is actually owned by the same people as Feature Films for Families, and Corporations for Character call centers are often in the same buildings as Feature Films for Families call centers), they are calling on behalf of a Non-Profit Charitable Organization. This makes them exempt from the National Do Not Call list, unless you specifically tell them that you don't want calls from them any more. Word to the wise though, if you do tell them you want to be on their Do Not Call list, or to be removed from their calling list, WAIT FOR THEM TO SAY GOODBYE BEFORE HANGING UP! The voice IS actually a recording, being controlled by a person sitting at a computer terminal. The real person can hear you, but you can't hear them. They simply press pre-determined buttons based on what you say to play pre-recorded audio files (for "quality purposes"), and they have a specific button to push for the DNC, if requested. If you request this DNC, they have to go through the entire DNC script with you or their system wont add you to the DNC. If you hang up early, the buttons for your call disappear from the screen and the next call comes in (hence new buttons for the new call). So, you have to wait for them to say goodbye, because after they press the DNC button, then pressing the "Thanks, Goodbye" button causes their system to automatically add your number to their DNC list. If you do not let them say goodbye before hanging up, they can't press this button.

And I know all this because, as you can tell, I am an employee of this company (ACnd yes, the call center they call from is actually based in Utah).

so a big name charity can pay executives 100k+ a year, spend multiple millions on advertising, and thats fine...because it is program expense.....I am sure television stations, newspapers, and radio LOVE these stories because guess what...YOU TUNE IN....THEY SELL ADVERTISING TO YOUR 'LEGIT' CHARITY.....and you are now informed zombies...

Ultimately, who gives a F*$@ what the telemarketers do, nobody really pays attention.....I am glad you are all focused on the BIG problems facing our country, oh thats right forget also about problems in your neighborhood.....

You are all complete idiots with too much time on your hands.

A big name charity can do that because they tell the donor truthfully that they are going to do that, this type of fraud happens because the fundraisers lie, there is a difference. A big difference. LOL

Dont you have some more calls to make? LOL

I don't think real people supporting police  would want you going door to door, and asking people to put it on under there mats.Mark it Police..be afraid to knock at the door, when you our home.To pick up donation..Then not brother showing up when its not posted on your door.I don't think our police would ever support, putting money out this way.I called Ogden Dispatch on coats for kids, here in Ogden..They know nothing about what you folks our up too in the area..How can I support that? I don't think so.Unless you show up with some type of ID from FOP don't brother coming to my house.

I've worked for many phone jobs, including UT Fraternal Order of Police and their system is just rigged that way.  It automatically dials numbers for you and when you hear a beep in your ear, it means the system has dialed a number for you.  Sometimes it takes a few seconds for us to get the call and by then, many times people are either annoyed or already hung up.  It's not our fault the system is set up that way.
