if the number they are calling is supplied to them from the republican national committee, can someone tell me how they're managing to get the direct dial number for staff working in an office located in Canada????? My colleague and I have both started receiving calls recently from this number.

This number called me and I do't know them.  I don't want to do any survey from that company.

I've been getting phone calls on my cell in the last week.  They call all hours of the day and night... I THOUGHT, looking to catch me, but it sounds like they don't even wanna talk to you when you pick up! I haven't done so.  Before I found out there was quite a log of the same sort of calls, I just figured if it was important enough they would leave a message and they haven't. BUT, it sure is annoying to have the phone ringing at all different times of the day.

Western Wats called my mother.  She said they called her and asked her who won the VP Debate.  She told them Biden.  And then they asked her if she knew that "Mark Udall voted against the 850 Billion dollar bailout?"  Mark Udall is a Democratic Congressman who is running for Senate here.  Looks like from previous posts that Westernwats is a data company contracted by the RNC.  I can't really say for sure that this was a "push poll" or just information for the RNC.

This is a collection agency.  This is why the majority of these people are being called.

Keep getting Hang Up calls from this number --NO MESSAGE -- just keep calling and calling and calling etc. One message up above says they are calling because you have done business with them or known company. Forgive my simple stupidity but WHO ARE THEY CALLING IN BEHALF OF IF THEY DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE -- MY ANSWERING MACHINE HAS BEEN WELL TRAINED FROM IT'S INFANCY TO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION BUT TO TAKE MESSAGES ONLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea who this is and why they are calling at 8:30pm.  I am on a do not call registry and this is their way around it by calling these type of calls surveys.

As a point of clarification - I'm sorry to anyone annoyed by these calls. However, the reason you don't always hear someone on the other end when you pick up is because the computer dials and oft times connects the interviewer after you've picked up. I know it's annoying, but that's the way it is.

Also, the national Do Not Call list does not apply to market research, only telemarketing, which Western Wats does not do. The easiest way to alleviate your pains is to answer once, let the interviewer do their introduction, and then request to be put on the do not call list for the company. Simple as that.

Western Wats does market research and political polling for both parties, they don't sell stuff so they don't have to use the national do not call list.  However, they do use automated dialers, meaning the system calls you then when you pick up they transfer you to a live interviewer, thus the wait for someone to say hello back.  If you don't want to keep getting calls from them and you and no one in your household are not interested in participating in surveys then wait for a person and ask them to put you on their do not call list.
