I get these calls daily usually right about 9am I say ello they say i calling from software technical support I say from who they say your windows software department. trying to not laugh I start speaking like an uneducated [***] which turns out i start sounding like them. After about five minutes he gets to the part about can you go in front of your computer so we can fix the problems I say yes I can. he says are you in front of your computer I said oh you just asked me if I CAN I thought you meant was I capable of this so I said yes, He says will you go in front of your computer now I said if you can hold on because I have to go to my desk at work to do this and it might take me 15 minutes or so because my computer is in my cubicle at the police station then nothing but silence. Another thing that works is when you know it is these thieving [***]'s as soon as you answer say Domino's can you hold and I will be back to take your order,  or try saying I can't talk right now I am in the middle of posting pictures of that pedophile mohammed or tell them sorry I never use a computer I deliver all my messages by camel delivery. If all else fails as soon as they lie to you just say your mother sucks roasted PIG NUTS.

likely he wanted to gain remote control of the computer.
I asked him to spell the name of his technical company,   after several times getting him to try to spell... he hung up on me.

Who goes after these people, can they be prosecuted?

I just got a phone call from this number...It came up on my caller ID as well as my TV....Called it back and got a recording that stated. this number is not in service please hand up and make sure you are calling the correct #...not an operator so who is this person....DO NOT CALL MY NUMBER AGAIN.....GOT IT.....PHONE # 850 785-9004!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just so you know, the Do Not Call List is useless on people who are violating the law -- as this "Microsoft Scam" clearly is doing.  These people are not from Microsoft, they are crooks seeking to get into your computer to steal passwords, banking & credit card info, & anything else they can get.  Legitimate telemarketers (annoying as they may be) will obey the law & honor the DNC List.  Crooks like this just don't care.  They laugh when you threaten them with legal action or tell them you are on the DNC List.  This is because they are constantly changing numbers & know they will never be caught.

Best response is to just not pick up on a number you don't recognize.  And block the number if you can.  Of course they'll call again soon from another number.  Oh, one more thing: people with Indian accents do not have a monopoly on telescamming.  I've had calls like this from men with high-class Boston and London accents as well.  Crooks are crooks regardless of their place of origin or bloodline.

Just got a call from this number.  Thick Australian accent.  He said he was from Windows and had detected a problem with our windows machine.  Who has a windows machine??  My daughter told him no thanks and hung up.  Scammers....and on Thanksgiving!!  Don't let them into your computers!

Obviously not so smart calling on championship Saturday. That little [***] just called me and I've missed a couple calls.  When I couldn't understand him and he said he walling calling from the computer dept. I hung up..

Wow, after getting only one phone call in 8 days, I've struck the jackpot
on December 1st with a plethora of annoying calls. This hone call happened
to come in when the answering machine was turned off.  
The holidays are off  to one heck of an annoying start!

These scum bags just called at 7:46AM this morning (Thursday morning)!!! I did not answer as the
caller id looked suspicious and I'm glad I did not after seeing all your posts here.  They did not
leave a message, but wow, calling at 7:46AM on a weekday???  That's low.

Got a call from a heavy accented person this morning.  He stated he was from technical support and wanted to help me fix my computer.  I let him know that I was not having issues with my computer but I was having issues with people trying to scam me.  That was when he said, "Listen to me mother f*****, if you don't do as I say, I'm going to come to your house and kick your a**!  I invited him over to do as he promised he then stated that he was going to come over and kill me and my family, then he hung up.  I then called the phone company and they put a trace on the call, blocked all third party calls (phone solicitors,  calls from 800 numbers, call that have been forwarded through a call service, ect.  They also contacted my local police dept. And asked me to do the same, which I did.

This person or persons is a scammer.  Do not listen to what they say.  Call your phone company and/or the police.  What they are doing is illeagle.

SCAM  I used their web site address to look them up and gave the name and address to Microsoft years ago. I figured Microsoft had lots of lawyers. MS now has a post on their home page warning about this scam. The next best thing you can do is curse them in Hindu. I call them a choot-ya and say their mother has had congress with a cow.

Received call from (850) 785-9004 at 1:14pm Pacific time on a Monday.  Caller ID on phone said "unknown caller."  A man with a heavy Indian accent asked for a member of my family by first and last name. I told him he had the wrong number; he responded "Umm . . . okay? Bye" and hung up. Background sounded like a call center. Tried to call back using my cell phone; received a homemade recording that "this number has been disconnected or is no longer in service."

Person called me ID stated Phillips D and DEMANDED that I sit in front of computer so they have full access to my computer!  I am a savvy computer user so that was not going to happen from me!  I kept asking them where they were from and they stated Seattle Washington, even though the caller ID stated a FL number.  I could hear noises from the background so appears they had others called as well. They stated if I move the mouse to the left hand they can easily help me with my problems.  I asked if only computer problems could be helped, they did not get the joke! I then stated why would I give a stranger access to my computer and they hung up.  Luckily I was not  a victim, pitty on the others who may not be as lucky.

"Same as the others, several calls received, except this time he was "Jerry". I slammed the phone down hard several times on my desk and when I picked it back up he said "what you do to me?"     haha     He cussed me and hung up. Next time I think an air horn will be waiting for him."

I just say ( CITY POLICE CAN I HELP YOU )
If your in the city say this Tornoto police, Kitchener police.
If you live in town say O.P.P.
Or the R.C.M.P.
If you live on a military Bass just say Military Police or M.P.

I just got a call from 850-785-9004 but did not answer.

I never answer numbers I don't recognize..  Especially non-local a/c's...  
And I'm about to put a recording on my answering device for callers to say who they are or I won't pick up...  
It's such a drag these days.  

Are there ways to block numbers..?   Or to have callers key in a particular number sequence for the phone to ring..?  

Those I do pick up and don't want to talk to I tell them I'm on the 'do not call list' and they hang up... It's still there afaik...

I have received several calls from this number and do not answer as my landline is used for my pacemaker monitor.

Got a call from this number. The only thing I understood was "computer".  When I asked the woman on the other end to repeat what she said, she hollered at me, "do you understand English?"  to which I replied, "I do understand English. Do you speak English?" " she hung up. When I tried to call back of course the number is disconnected.

They called my place of business and hung up promptly once I answered. Caller ID says "Phillips D" I'm glad they hung up because I can't deal with anymore telemarkers or scammers fishing for information when I have legitimate customer to take care of...

I get a call many times saying there is a problem with my computer. Sounds like a bot. They hang up when I disagree.
