i had a letter with this phone number from a chap called mr feng li. tells me he can get me half of $17.370 million u.s dollars. from some one with my name who died and left no will.

Hi, I got this letter too today, same number, same amount of money slightly different Chinese name (Li Chao).

Heh. I just received a letter dated 19 January from  a Li Chao, too, headed with only this number and the email address Lichao45 (at) ymail.com . Same amount of money, same advice about a dead person with the same surname. I thought it suspicious because my surname is unusual and the only John I know of with my name is my still-healthy son.

This is scam. There is no money or inheritance. You will be asked to either provide your full bank details to receive the money, whereupon they will then empty your bank account or they will ask you for various fees upfront to help with the legal documents or to 'bribe' various officials. You will never see this money!
Do not respond directly to companies of this sort. They will pass on your personal details to other criminal organisation such as this one.

I just received the same letter from Jin Feng offering the same amount, $17.370m.  Same email address and a tel number +852 8193 2247.  Letter claimed my dead "relative" was "involved in an accident in mainland China and died intestate".  Another scam - I'll be reporting to police.

Me too - same Jim Feng, same amount, same phone number, same story of dead relative dying in mainland china!

Just received same letter from Mr Li Chao apparently from China Construction Bank with a transaction of $17m from Xiamen International Bank. I used to work for a UK bank and unfortunately time and time again we saw frauds like this happen. Stay away.

Shred it as soon as you get it. Who provides the information to these criminals in the first place? Thats what I would like to know

saying there is someone John....surname same as me who has died in China , and there is 17.370 million USD to claim , then he wanted me to share such a fortune by taking my details ,I am glad to find this Blog to share it with you guys , I have decided to stop the email with the Cone man , is there any where to stop this kind of scams?

hi we ordered trainers online and same day we recieved the trainers we recieved same letter from same name and same amount of money with same number and email address i have read on here think we should report it to police this letter was also wrote on 7th may 2013 and trainers are fake with same name as 1 on here

same letter received from a mr feng li,china construction bank,same sum,"please be confidential",share sum of intestate relative who died in a road accident in mainland china.i advised to read "the red headed league"-sherlock holmes story,written a hundred years ago,and not to give up the day job.

I have had a letter from Mr Jim Feng dated 24th May 2013, showing the phone number 852 81914147 and email address jinfeng54@ymail.com.

Refers to the same amount of money & similar circumstances.

Just as the Financial Investigator has said above, they will want your bank details, some upfront fees and clear your account.

Do not respond, you will not get anything but will lose all you have in the bank.

My wife just today received the same letter as everyone else. Funny thing is, my name is John, but then again so's my father's, and my son's. Fortunately none of us is dead yet.  The only bit of sense in the letter is where he says "riches never come easy" Still it gave me a laugh just before the weekend.

Same letter received yesterday from Li Chao, Chao 147@yahoo.com.  I think I will report to the police.
