- Anon uk replies to tjmI have received a similar letter today from Mr Chui Yeng business manager for China Construction Bank in Hong Kong. The letter is about a dead guy who has my surname and no living relatives. The amount is 17.370 million US dollars. This guy has given email address Chuiyeng311@yahoo.com if any law inforcement officers would to contact him!
The letter says someone will be in touch if I contact him and I can have half the money for my trouble.
It's along letter so I am not writing it all here but it sounds the Sam as everyone else's it's dated 6th Dember 2013 so beware if you get one of these. - Graham FReceived the same letter yesterday, obviously a fraud but what worries me is that nobody has reported any feedback from the police. I would like to think that with enough of us reporting the same crime something would have been done by now.

- Amati100Wow they actually texted me and told me to email them. I did and they got my first and last name correct while my name that is with my phone number is my uncles and we have different first and last names. So how did this happen? I'm curious to how they got my name. I was so happy and thought this was so legit I cried. I'm 18 by the way and my mother just passed so I'm vanurable at the time. I'm glad I searched the number he left me on google or I would've had my identity stolen.

- Geoege LeeReceived letter in the post with content very similar to those above with names changed. The writer name is a Mr. Ma Shusheng who claimed to be a resident of Hong Kong. In fact I had received several letters over the last few months and as usual I totally ignored it. Just file it away in my junk file. But having received another one today, I decided to explore further to find out whether others had received similar scam letters.Obviously, many people had received from the post above.I wonder what criterion did the scamers use to target potential victims? I know from my own personal experience, I just do nothing or just take a copy and forward it to the local police station or the police fraud department.

- javier larios replies to ZerosMr. Hector larios? just got that email today. Scam!
- GodOfSexWhat if you were to ask them to send the money to your paypal account? That would easily out them as scammers.
- Lawrence replies to tjm| 6 repliesJust received the same letter promising $17.370 million U S from Mr Li Hou BEWARE !!!!
- EmmaI received the same letter as quoted above (jinfeng54@ymail.com, 24 Sep 2013), with a couple of small tweaks: the letter I received was from "Li Hou" and the name given for the person who supposedly made the investment was my relative's name (although, as his first name was "John" that could just be a lucky strike). Some bits were broadly accurate: my brother did work for a time in Hong Kong, and did die intestate in Asia (actually outside China), and I had been named as his next of kin. And, like others, my name and address were accurate. So I did wonder whether their source of information for this scam came from the probate records (at least in my case).
I only received a letter: no phone call. I was warned not to email them - and especially not from my own email address, as this is linked to my real name, and the scammers might be able to use that. Do especially safeguard your date of birth and NI number, and any info that can lead them to that. Although it may feel safe to release a few bits of personal info, they can research to find the other bits they need for identity theft or other thefts. Best to give false dates of birth when online (you can't do this with online cr/dr card transactions) and avoid giving personal data over the phone.- Caller: China Construction Bank in Hong Kong
- anonymousMore on $17.370million scam.
I received the letter about "deceased, intestate relative" on 23rd June 2014 which claimed to be from Mr Jun Li, email: junli79@yahoo.com - no phone number but there is mention of China Construction Bank and Xiamen International Bank.
The delivery envelope bore SmartStamp/Royal Mail code L9UX X5EL, but was not delivered by Royal Mail.
I will ignore this letter as I believe it to be a scam. Advise you do the same on receipt of any similar details. - RuthMy father (who is 90 years old) received one of these letters from Chao Li. Despite our advice to ignore it, he convinced himself that he DID have a relative by the name mentioned. He had a lot of paperwork and emails over a six month period and to cut a long story short he is now £10,000 .00 out of pocket. He asked his bank what they thought and they said it seemed genuine so they set up a transfer account for him. !!!! Unbelievable. !!!
- marayes i got the same thing please is important that we dont believe on this an call the police
