After I received numerous calls on my cell, I called the number and was able to talk to a nice lady who blocked my number.  She issued a password for me which I should use if I ever receive any more calls.  So far I have not received any, but what makes me suspicious is that she required my name and address in order to block my cell number.  Scam?  I guess I will find out.

Its not a scam. If you get a call from them that means someone you know is in jail or prison and is trying to get ahold of you. My fiance just went to jail in Steuben county and the only way you can speak to them is putting money on the global tel link account. All I want to know is how do I get more talking time with him? Its only letting me talk to him for fifteen minutes and I was told I get 20 minutes.

the number not a scam u can put minutes on for a inmates but i was wonder if there was a sight for them?

The number is Global Tel Link.  A phone account for prisoners to call collect at a discounted rate.  I don't accept collect calls from anyone, nor do I know anyone in prison, so I called their customer service # (877) 650-4249 and requested a 'Global Block' on my phone number.  If you don't know which prison facility the calls are originating from, you have to request the global block.

Keep getting a call from this number wanting me to press #4.  Do not know anyone in jail as this sounds like it is from a jail.

I just  received a call from unknown caller and the message asked to call Global Tel-Link at 866-230-7761.  The interesting thing is that my number is less than 24 hours old and I know no one  incarceratd or employed by a correctional facility.  Just another robo-call to scam my hard earned money that I have so much less of b/c of the current POTUS (Obama)!!!!

DO NOT ANSWER OR THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR A COLLECT CALL! Global Tel Link is an inmate scam, according to my Google research.

If you see "Unknown" on your caller-ID, do not answer! Let it ring and go to voice-mail. If it's someone you know, thy will leave a message. Don't even answer and hang-up or the phone company will register what is called a "round trip."

If this scam company engages the voicemail with a lengthy message to make it look like a several minute call, they may claim you answered and accepted the call from the inmate, and bill your phone number as a collect call. SAVE THESE VOICEMAILS. You can use these voicemails as evidence to contest the huge charge.

I've been getting calls from the Tulsa jail, with this number to call to set up an account.  I called it and wound up talking to "Freddie," most likely in Bangalore.  I asked him to block calls to my number, and he started collecting information: name, number, service provider, etc.  When he asked for my billing address, I refused to give it, but that seemed to be OK with him.  He said calls to my number have been blocked.  We'll see.

Yesterday I received one of those recorded calls from 713 563-6986 asking if I would accept the charges from someone (they gave a recorded name) that I don't even know in a prison. I hit the end call button.Today I got a call again but this time it came up as unavailable and this time the recording said they were Global Telling. And said that it was important that I call them back. I don't know anyone in prison and never have. How do I make them stop calling me?

I have had three call from 866-230-7761 in the last three days.

A call just came in from this number and because I didn't recognize it, I didn't answer. I always check numbers I don't know on google and glad I did. My ex is in prison and has called on a cell phone from there, so not sure why this number would call me. It was the 866231 number.

Prison communications co????my phone already blocked- scam

Got a call from this number as well as 866-483-8314 both are from this GTL saying an inmate is trying to contact me, etc. etc. I have told them twice to stop calling me. I was told in order to get my number blocked I would have to set up an account which I did not. This is a scam and I will be reporting them to the FTC and the Attorney General's office.
