i keep getting pictures text form this number too and it says i have to log on to cricket.com to review it but i have a smart phone with the blackberry plan so i should be able to receive pictures and videos.  I don't know but i log on to cricket.com and it says error when i try to bring it up.

The call is from Cricket Communications and usually is a promotional "flyer" or something similar. If your Cricket phone is on a low-price plan that does NOT support mms (multimedia messages service such as photos), you will NOT be able to access the message on your phone nor online and will get an error message such as "General Error" when trying to do so.

Cricket customer service can waste 30 minutes or more and/or request you call back later multiple times before they eventually discover the "problem".

You can call Cricket tech support for online problems at (866) 384 – 4425 and they will confirm what I have written (Ignore the recorded instructions to call the other customer service phone number).

In addition, you can notify them to cease all messages from Cricket to you as you are not able to or not willing to receive those promotional messages.

anyone else realize that the number is 866-CRICKET? someone is probably just sending spam and hiding their identity by changing the MMS headers to say cricket's number. Wish there was a way for cricket to just block MMS from their own number.

This is correct people.  I just got a new number and subsribed to getting alerts from my Facebook account.  Cricket is trying to piggy back that stuff to pad their bills.  No surprise if you have them you know that they are a predator company when it comes to making revenue.  Class Action suit is the only thing that will stop this.  You people have to group together and exchange info and make a consumer complaint and see it through.  I only go month-to-month with them, and don't subscribe to picture messaging, so they can't [***] with my bill because I have bitched to their corporate office on a couple of occasions, and I live in a Phoenix suburb so I go to their corporate offices all the time.  Now you know; do something about it.  Chris in Mesa, AZ.:-)

I am so tired of reciving text pic messages from this number

I am trying the reply text "stop" to see if that works to get the number to stop sending multimedia text to my business phone, which like others above does not receive picture mail. The phone answers in Spanish for Cricket, "press 1 for English". Cricket is the carrier for my phone. I confirmed with the technical support representative that it is Cricket. I believe it is an upselling because she asked me if I wanted to buy the multimedia service for five dollars. I am still skeptical because the automated system did not recognize my birthday or zip code, but it confirmed my phone. The representative only asked me for my name. There was no pressure to buy. I explained I used the phone for work and did not need or want the multimedia. I was asked if there was anything else I cold be helped with. The automated system also offered an option to pay my bill. I point blank asked if it was Cricket texting me and I was told yes, it was a "test message".

Cricket is notorious for NOT listening to or responding to customer complaints regarding their unsolicited SMS/MMS messages.  My "communications preferences" which Cricket allows you to set, is set up for email contact only.  But I still receive two text messages each month from Cricket along with an email version of the one thanking me for my payment.  One is sent as if it comes from MY number and the other is 800-274-2538.  The time and date corresponds to when I receive them.  In contrast, the one from 866-274-2538 (notice the similarity) arrived in the morning of Nov 26, 2011 but the time/date stamp shows as 5:00pm Dec 31, 1969.  That means that they are illegally falsifying (aka "spoofing") the header information, much like is done with SPAM email.  

If everyone that receives this nonsense would take the time to file a complain with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC.org) and the Better Business Bureaus, perhaps Cricket would finally honor customer's communication preferences and stop sending unsolicited marketing to our phones.  Heck, call the "Consumer Advocacy" department of your local news stations.

It's Cricket doing this. They are trying to get you to upgrade your cheap phone. They sell your name to casinos and spammers to send you messages.

I've called them to stop, but they wont. Its part of their business plan, If you want it stopped you;ll need to get rid of cricket altogether and pay more with another provider,

Ditto previous posts. Just called the number and it's Cricket. Attempted to speak to a real live person but was unable to weave my way through their maze of automated BS. I have a Cricket phone, shouldn't they know that I can't receive multimedia? Duh....

Where is this number coming from? It keeps texting me saying I am being sent multi-media msg and my device can't receive them.

This number seems to be calling a lot of people, I think we should all get the name and current address to this person or business so we can pay them a visit.

This number is NOT sending you picture messages...its the automatic message you receive alerting you that one of your contacts are trying to send you a picture but is not allowed because you haven't paid for picture messaging. Duh people! Pay the $5 a month if you want to get your picture messages. Until you pay that $5/month...every time a friend from ANY NUMBER sends you a pic..you will get the alert message from this number.
