This is not a real chase #. Someone is trying to get into your account!  It shows on called id as the chase online number but it you call this # back they ask for account and iD info DO NOT GIVE IT!!!!!!  Chase has confirmed this is NOT a chase number. I had complained several times about these calls. I see it has been going on a long time. Chase really needs to do something about it!!!!!!

Got this call today, 1/31/2015. Recording gave me an 8-digit access code and told me to call 866-355-3744. I called that number; it was a recording that sounded a lot like the one at the legit Chase numbers. When they prompted me to enter my account # I hung up and called the number on the back of my Chase card. Chase had no record of sending me an access code, and said the phone number is not one of theirs.

Will be changing my user ID and password now, just to be on the safe side.

I just rec'd a call with the 8 digit code and to call 866 355 3744 if you haven't done anything to generate any account password activity. After calling, giving my name, account username, address and CC number, I was put on hold. It seemed inordinately long, so I punched the phone number into Google - and wound up here. I called Chase and changed everything, including cancelling my card. It looks like I got ahead of it as there were no new charges and the only thing they could have had of value - my CC number - has been cancelled. Whew!!!

No kidding!! It's been almost 3 years since you posted about this, and same call (actually 4 in fast succession that I didn't answer) came just yesterday to my cell phone. It's scary how sophisticated this scam is and creepy that it's been happening since 2009.  Astonished that one Chase hand doesn't know what the other is doing. At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, makes me think some real Chase employee is behind this and rethink wheree I want to park my money.

Same story but in October 2015 (yesterday). Called personal banker at Chase who confirmed the 866# wasn't listed as Chase #. He said he'd get involved if the service center people (at legit toll free#) couldn't address concerns.

Called legit Chase #. The person I spoke with sounded like a broken record and didn't confirm the 866# was or was not legitimate...kept telling me never to give info out over the phone and that my accounts with Chase were safe.

This was at end of business day, and it's now before business hours (i'm obsessively reading these postings haha). Now I've got to invest more time on this BS, call the local banker back when the local branch opens to try to get to the bottom of this. Will probably wind up just changing my user name/password, but thinking of moving my accounts/SD box to a local credit union to avoid all the crap with these 800#s & reduce the number of people who could devise sophisticated scams like these.

The thing that really gets on my last nerve is that one Chase hand has absolutely no idea what the other is doing. As evidenced by all these posints, this scam's been around since 2009. Cannot assure me that anything's being done to eliminate this scam or even confirm their awareness of it for 6 years. Not only that, the raw stupidity of the employee (and any number of others just like her) at the actual Chase service center makes me worry she has smart friends who dreamed up this scam, starting with spoofware.

    Hi Terri,
I did the same exact thing you did. It was only an after thought that I realized I called back an unsolicited number and gave them my SSN. I called the number on the back of my debit card trying to verify the text message and phone number, and the women I spoke with said this is not a registered Chase number. However, she does have record in her computer of me speaking with someone else just a few minutes prior which was at the time I had called the number from the text. I am still a nervous that I just gave out my SSN. I was wondering if you had any fraud issues stemming from this event or had any additional comments. I am wondering if I need to get an identify theft service.

    Thanks,
    Mary

It's a scam all right. I hit 0, got an operator, refused to giver her my social security number and cc number, asked for her supervizor. The first woman had an American accent. She transferred me to her 'senior acount specialist', who had a decidedly Pakistani accent. I told her I was not about to give any identifying info over the phone to her, would be doing my own investigating, and to have a good day. Then I hung up. Don't fall for this, peeps.

Sometimes an identity theft service can be a good thing. Had mine stolen 2ce in my life, so I learned the hard way to never give out info.

We got this automated message on our office line telling us it had our requested Online ID Code. "Your requested Online ID Code is 44910455… If you didn’t request an Online ID Code, call us at 1-866-355-3744…” I Googled the number and saw all the scam alerts, so I called Chase directly and asked if they saw any requests for online codes (which they didn't), and whether this was one of their contact numbers (it wasn't). Don't call it back. If you can block it, go that route. Scammers.

Received this call July 3, 2017. Three calls in rapid succession. I did not call back as I have no Chase card. So this goes back to 2009 with the same callback number? Wow.
