I would be careful about calling this number valid for Amex.  For one thing, numbers and names are spoofed so easily these days, and the info phishers are VERY active.

Something else odd in this thread:  After November of 2018, there were no posts about this number for over 2 years. I think that is odd.  Did Amex go out of business? Quit using a number and then start again? Seems more likely scammers were using the number, dropped it, and now are using it again.

It's not a real number. There are shills on here saying that it is so beware. It's a scam.

I too, have been receiving calls from this number, I called the number on the back of my American Express card, they confirmed this is fraud, and to NEVER respond!

This number is not trust worthy. See my post at the top of this page. If you want to make sure, you can call AMEX on a number you know is good and ask if they have been trying reach you. If you are not an AMEX customer, I think it would be wise to not return this call.

What brings you here? You would have no reason to lookup a number you know is good, and in any case was a call-back number. In this thread there are posts going back to 2007, and not one person mentions this number being given as a call-back number.

Also interesting that you post about 40 minutes after my posting that the calls from this number are not to be trusted. Also odd that you responded to a post that is 13 years old. Wonder why you picked that post?

- You are posting with a name that is a variation on name of the poster I was responding to. That is an old troll/shill trick - seen that many times before. Red Flag right there.

- You are saying that this is a call back number being "given out to people", so how is it people are reporting calls from this number? That does not make sense to me.

- You are completely ignoring the possibility that the number (and maybe the AMEX name) are being spoofed.

Got 2 calls. Yesterday a girl with a heavy Indian accent and very unpolished demeanor left a VM saying she’s from AmEx asking for my mom (AmEx doesn’t sound like that!) - sounded so fake. Today it was a guy calling - again, accent and weird tone. I called him out on being a scammer and asked to remove my number and never call here again.

It’s feels as if they target elderly people to commit fraud.

Very sad those young guys have a job like that. Karma is real, guys.

So why do they call my phones almost everyday and not leave any message? This has been going on for over three months. You seem to be the fraud. I have no Amex card and have never applied for one. I called back and the first thing they want is my SS.
