I was left a voicemail to call AEP @ 1-866-715-3526 with my account # or SS#. AEP is one of the local Electric Companies in this area. I called the normal customer service number and checked my account to see if there was some mistake regarding my account and there was not. My account is paid and up to date. This is a bogus call!!

This is unbelievable!   I had the SAME exact call, only more than 12 months AFTER Tina reported this.

This company is STILL doing the same scam, from the SAME number!!

I just got a call from this number don't answer it. It's crap.

I just a call from this number saying this is AEP. Please return our call with your social security number or account number.  When I called back however, it rings and says, "if you would like to make a call, please hang up and try again."

This IS AEP!  They called me and gave me an extension on my bill.

It is AEP Swepco. Apparently you have a bill that is scheduled for disconnect. They are very willing to work with you and give you an extension on your bill. Call them back!

Just received a call on my cell phone from this number stating it was AEP asking for a return call with either my account number or SS number.  Not going to call.  I am on a do not call list, but that does no good.

I just received a message from 866-715-3526 saying it was an important call from AEP about the work order at my service address and if I was the responsible party to please call with my ss# and account number --- do not have a work order placed with AEP. Called AEP to report this bogus call.

the work order they refer to is the one they initiate to disconnect your service.

They are just trying to get you to pay your bill before the local cut off guy cuts your electric off,  just call a

yeah, i don't have any kind of "bill" they could be getting me to pay, as i still live in my parents house and am still a legal dependent on them, yet they just called me. So...that theory is wrong. Besides the fact that i just got the phone number they called me on literally 20 minutes ago...so even if i did have some kind of "business" with them, they wouldn't know it yet.

possibly the person that had your number before owes money.  Obviously the person that had my number before has all kinds of fiscal issues.

This is a legitimate phone call, although often times (as in my case), they have been given an incorrect number to call.  I receive my power bills by email, so I called the 800 number in the email to discuss this call with my power company (Indiana Michigan Power).  I told the representative who fielded my call that I had received an automated call from 866-715-3526 and asked if this was one of their numbers.  She said that it sounded like it and asked me if they had said that they were calling about a work order.  She explained that the automated call was made for numbers about to be disconnected and that calls made to this number in response to the automated calls were routed to their main switchboard.  She was able to verify that I have a zero balance on my account.

No scam here.

this is a legit AEP number. however its in response to the account of the person who had this phone number before me.

This is a FRAUD operation they are calling to scam people into giving up their credit ID!!!!! DO NOT give up any info - rather note any numbers that might display on your phone.  They are using the guise of a lowering of your payments on credit cards and other utilites to unsuspecting people.
