They called me and I don't have AEP service in my name.

We also received a call from this number claiming that it is AEP and they're needing to make a service call at our address. They want us to call back with our SS# and Account number. After getting this call I typed it in google and found this site. We also checked the bill (which is up to date) and the number DID NOT MATCH... very suspicious!!

Caller asked for social security number or a federal tax ID #. In order to discuss account.

Just recvd call from:  866-715-3526.  Automated call saying they were calling for PSO (local electric company) asking me to call about past due bill.  I don't even have an account with PSO.  SCAM!!!

Received a computer message advising account past due and services would be disconnected to call a different number to make a payment immediately

This is a scam call!!  Do not give this caller any information!  Our AEP bill is paid automatically each month, so I knew it was up to date.  When I called, the person tries to get as much information from you as possible...if you question anything, they will put you on 'hold' and never come back.  This number has been reported to both the Better Business Bureau and AEP Power.

Got a call from this number yesterday SCAM

Just got a call from this number a few seconds ago. They left an automated message saying they were from PSO which is the local electricity provider, saying that my service was subject to being disconnected. I can't speak for the other people who have left comments about this number, but it was no scam for me. I've been out of work for a few months now, I am behind on my payments, and I am facing disconnection. In my case, it was totally legit.

I call bologna....this is a scam. My son got a call on his cell and he has never had an electric bill in his name ever. They are trying to get social security numbers or a credit card number from you

It's a scam. We received a voicemail message saying our electric account was subject to disconnection. I logged in to my online acct to find that my bill was not due for another 7 days, and I had no account arrears. More importantly, there was an alert message in my online account that says:

"SCAM ALERT! – Thieves are calling our customers, threatening to shut off power unless an immediate payment is made. Indiana Michigan Power never asks for pre-paid debit cards for payment. Please use our authorized payment methods, and call us at 800-311-4634 if you have questions or concerns."

For any of the people posting comments thinking this is legit, because you just so happened to be behind on your electric bill, I'm having a hard time believing it was anything more than a coincidence. These scammers are just playing the odds knowing if they call enough people you're bound to eventually connect with folks who are late on payment. When in doubt, look at an old bill or your online account for a valid customer service number to verify acct status.

Just received this call but it was blocked by Mr. Number app on my phone.  Came here to verify. Logged on to AEP to verify.  AEP has scam alert about this!

SCAM..this # robocalled my work # . I work for another local utility and we had been forewarned about this scam a few months ago..The ph# it gives if you want to make a payment is not the ph# to PSO Electric

Caller ID said AEP. I called back and the recording provides the phone numbers for Bill Matrix to pay by phone.

This is a COURTESY CALL before they cutoff your electricity. They called yesterday. I checked my AEP PSO bill, and I had a FINAL CUTOFF NOTICE for TODAY. Just paid it.  Glad they called.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, and check your electric bill.  You may be scheduled for a cut-off.

I got a call from this number today.  They left a voicemail and said they were SWEPCO, our electric company, and that my account was "subject to disconnect" and to avoid this to pay the past due amount "before the date of disconnection"  They said to call the SWEPCO Operations number 24hrs a day at 866-715-3526.  Also if I want to make a payment by check or credit card to call 800-611-0964.     My SWEPCO is set to auto pay, and when I checked online it is up to date.  They also have a notice on their site about a Scam going around.    Do not respond to this number!!!

I just received two calls from this number today

Husband got a voicemail from them saying our electric was fixing to be cut off. Funny thing is our service is with Upshur Rural and automatically drafted,  not AEP Swepco. Either they have the wrong number or a scammer.

I got a call from this number saying my power be cut off . I don't owe a bill it's paid said they was aep.

I got the same message today from the same phone # today 5-9-2016. Unbelievable that they are operating this long with the same phone number.

Apparently still at it! Received a call 6/30/16 threatening service cutoff if payment not made. Number is NOT AEP customer service number & payment number is certainly bogus too! And like everybody else....don't owe a dime on my account. Beware Y'all!

Well considering I don't have AEP it's a scam call.
