This is legit! It started off with a robot telling me that I had a license on file for a state different than I am currently living in, which was true, I moved from Kansas about 2 years ago. It took me to a representative that seemed initially confused, but realized what I was talking about once I explained it. They asked for my birthdate to confirm who I said I was and then updated everything. I received an email about 5-10 minutes later confirming that my Progressive Policy documents had been updated with my new license information.

So, as many have stated, it is actually Progressive, just the process seems super sketch.

So they tried calling me but got my first name wrong since it’s similar to another name. Just ignore the call and don’t give any info.

essage left on my cell.  Recorded message said call was an 'Important message from Progressive Insurance Company.'  Caller knew my name including my middle initial which I seldom use.  Message stated that I needed to call 866-840-4148 and enter a message code which was 7 digits.  Message ended with 'Thank You from Progressive Direct Insurance Company or one of it's corporate affiliates'  I am insured with Progressive and called the phone number on my insurance card.  Told the rep of the message I received;  they looked in their records and did not see any record of an attempt to contact me. The phone number given in the message or the 'received from' number are NOT Progressive Insurance Company Numbers.  SCAM!!

Progressive rep here.  This is a legitimate call from our company.  Your record won't show any outbound calls because they are done from an automated system.  If you receive this call, it is 99.95% because you have a different state license than the state your policy is insured in.  If the caller is asking you to verify information (DOB, phone number, last 4 of SSN), it's because that is our job before we can access your policy.

Claimed to be Progressive Insurance asking to verify your driver's license.  Asks for Date of Birth to 'verify' your identity.

This number is trying to phish for your personal information.  Deal with them with extreme caution.

Tried to verify license number after saying they had  a supposed old state number

Received call from this number and they wanted my wife's DL number and said they needed to verify her information. We moved to another state 12 years ago. We've had Progressive insurance since 2004. I called Progressive and they said that they didn't call and ask for that information. It was a phishing scam. Don't fall for this scam. I believe that it was a way for the Democrats to use her name and DL number to use her old number for someone else to be able to vote under her name in our previous state. I reported this to Progressive and gave them the SCAMMERS number. This kind of crap needs to stop.

This number called pretending to be Progressive Auto Insurance. I released the call immediately because I know I don't have any claims in process with Progressive at this time. The last time I had a claim was 2 yrs. ago. There's NO reason why Progressive Auto Insurance would need to verify my account for any kind of claim.
