This # calls my home often. Today it was a usual hang up call. I have been getting numerous calls from political idiots. If there's one thing they haven't learned, it's that the general public HATES phone solicitation, even for election voting. STOP CALLING MY "DO NOT CALL" phone #'s.

The reason a large portion of the people are having trouble with this number is because this number is being "Spoofed" by Delta Outsource Group, a collection agency located in O'Fallon, MO.  They will try and gather enough information to create an account.  Many bank accounts have been drained by this establishment and many "Spoofed" phone numbers have been fraudulently used to aquire information.
This not only hurts people by the harrassment, but also hurts the establishment that the number belongs to.

Called my home phone today (Sunday) at 2:30... no one there when I answered.  I called back from my cellphone... there was about 5 seconds of "elevator" music and then it disconnected.

Relentlessly called me yesterday, every half hour.  It stopped at 9:00 p.m. (eastern) and started again this morning at 9:00 alm.  I'm using iBlacklist to send a busy signal, so I think the software kept trying until it's not busy.  This morning I forwarded the number to my fax machine and it appears to have taken care of the problem.  No calls for 2 1/2 hours.

How do you know this?

Hey took you advice and filed a compliant - Im on the DNC list and keep getting calls from these creeps at all times and called them back today straight to music then a busy signal.  So something strange is definately going on.  My husband is a phone tech and he says the are up to no good.  Thanks for the links, it was easy and they had the DNC link so I went ahead and re registered our numbers just in case.

Not a political call - something strange with these calls.  The political calls will leave a message or when you call back they have a message or someone  answers - not this number.

Does not talk  hangs up after answering phone

They call and call. No one says anything if you call back. You get music and then silence then hangs up on you. I am pretty sure this is one of those collection places.

I keep getting multiple calls per day from this same number -- 866-948-0585

If I answer, noone's there.
If I call them back, I get 30 seconds of elevator music and then get cut off.
If I "star-six-nine", I get the recording: "The number you are trying to reach cannot be handled by the automatic recall or callback features..." yadda yadda yadda...

How can I find out who they are and how can I get them to stop calling?

Beyond that, how can I get them alone in a room with me and a baseball bat?

All I'm asking for is 5 minutes, that's all. Is that too much to ask?

Dude!  this is an excellent idea - I  made the disconnect message the outgoing message on my answering machine about two weeks ago.  Now all my friends think I've packed up and left town.  It may be worth it in the long run though.

get google voice and block the number. caller is just fishing for idiots like me who answer the phone for 800 numbers and sells list to other telemarketers.

Some of these calls are made through an automated dialer. Since there are millions of calls being made I doubt if there is any way to stop the calls. The machine is dialing at random and your number will come up over and over.

Places such as Delta Outsource Group (Debt Collector) will Spoof calls from various numbers and do these annoying hangups, dead air, foreign language, fraudulent advertising etc. to agitate the victims.  Then they will call as themselves, for real, and be real polite.  The theory behind this is that the people are so frusterated by the fraudulent and anoying phone calls prior to this, that they are actually pleased to hear a decent voice on the other end and therefore are victim to giving their personal data more freely to these Debt Collectors.

Another harassment caller, or an incompetent auto-dialer.  Maybe they got my number from one of the other mis-marketing clowns.  These are becoming a plague.  The phone companies need to enforce the disconnection rules ! ! !

Keeps calling, no one on the line.  Call back and get a fast busy, then a hang up.

left a bizarre message. Male voice says, " Line test 1, line test 2, line test 3" Then mumbling then hangs up.

Just got the same thing - testing.  Wish I had just let it ring through.
