I have been getting to. Does anyone know who they are, and why they are calling?

I've been getting those calls too. I have no idea because whenever they run to the answering machine I just skip to the end of it and delete it.

This is an accounts recievable firm...  leave msg in general voicemail and they will get back to you with the information you require

I'm the receptionist at a company that's undergoing a period of great change. We do get collection calls. If it's a call from a real, actual human, I can forward it to the appropriate party. However, by the time this automated message goes through the automated phone directory and reaches my line, the message is half over.  This doesn't bother me; I sometimes find it amusing. Amusing that someone would actually think such means might be effective. The message is always the same and never says who it is and what they're looking for.  If they wanted a response, they'd have a real person call.

what does it mean when they are calling? like what do they want/what do they do if you don't call back?

They are a collections agency. They are calling because they have either your name and/or your phone number. They may not even want to speak to you, as in this day and age with tons of recycled cell phone numbers out there, they might be trying to reach someone else using their old phone number. Best to call them back and if it's you they want, pay them as all collections agency report to credit places. If it isn't, they will remove your number. Otherwise a collection agency will continue to call.

Buggers called my parents. Apparently just going down the list of names in the phone book. So happens I have the same name as this debtor they are after. Same company as reported - CCA - Commercial Credit Adjusters - www.cca.ca. I work in the industry on the creditors side of things so I have heard of them before. In the past they have had a really bad rep. I called back the number left 1-866-958-5850 - the caller ID they called from was 204-272-2060 - the collector who I reached was ok - not bad to deal with at all. Turns out it was a case of mistaken identity and he advised he would take my folks off their contact list. I was ready for a fight as I am well versed in the law of collections and know what they can and can not do... Turns out I had my claws and fangs out for nothing - still never hurts to be prepared - sword drawn :p

They will continue to call you until they get ahold of you. If you don't owe money then just call them back. They are oprobably tring to get ahold of someone else and if you don't know the person than tell them that and they will stop calling.

im starting to think that this isn't an actual collection agency. cause they called me for something i never even had and claim i owe money. asked for proof and they refuse to bring the proof....but screamed in the phone they want the money....wow professional scammers if you ask me...if you claim i owe something SHOW THE EVIDENCE!

Wow not impressed with these people, you call tell me it's an important matter and to call them back. I call back no one answers, Bull [***]. I just got this new number and soo not sure why they are calling me. Wish it would stop if anyone knows how to stop it would love for you to tell me.

Ya it IS a collection agency....in this case, collecting unpaid bill from a not-very-old (like 6 WEEKS!) Shaw Cable bill.

just call in state your phone number see if its you .. if not they will remove your number

Wow, unprofessional. The messages I get don't tell me who they are or who they are looking for. I call back and they hang up. Can I block this number?

This is not a real collection agency. However, if they got your number and other personal info, that means one of your accounts (i.e. from phone bill, bank/credit card account, etc.) have been compromised. The company is basically trying to scam you money. They use not-so-sophisticated software to parse info that they obtained from corporations such as Rogers.

To prevent this, do not give out personal info to companies unless you absolutely have to. Whether you signed up for a credit card or a cheap phone plan (yes this has undesirable perks), your information is sold to telemarketers.

Also, do not call back! The agent will do anything to scam you money. I believe most of the process is automated, so the agents have no idea who you are.
