They are a legit company.  I am paying them for the debt I owed but because I didn't paid it all back at once they are harassing me.  I have been giving them money biweekly but the phone calls won't stop.  won't ever deal with virgin mobile again because of this.

CCA is a real collection agency.  Call them and try to resolve the matter amicably.

They called me today, i have been receiving a call from them though for the past few days. Today they said they are cca. A collections company. They were calling my cell phone and today called me at work!

Hi I had received a message earlier today. It was from a man never said the name of the company (I don't know if it was a real man talking or if it was a computer) but he said they "needed my immediate attention" and he said something about collections. I really don't know for sure if it is a scam or what? If they were wanting me to call just for them to say something like would you be interested in this or that and it requires my banking information than I would NOT be providing them with that information. I'm just going to ignore because I think their just saying they so call "need my immediate attention" just to get me to be their next victim of a scam. I'm NOT falling for it. I'm not stupid. Mom never raised fools for kids.

They left a message for someone with a different first name and the same last name as mine. I only use my first initial in the phone book. They are phishing for him not me. I wasn't here when they called. I won't be calling them back. It's not me they are looking for.

Years ago someone with my current number was in trouble owing money. That debt was sold to a collections company and now I keep getting calls about it. No one believes me so when I won't pay up they just sell it to another collections company and the process starts over. This happens every couple of months when a new company begins to call. I even went to the company who had the original debt and they have no record of me and no debt outstanding because if it was there it got written off ten years ago. This thing has been passing through various companies for years and will be passed on to who ever gets my number next.
When you ask for a letter from the original company authorizing them to be their representative in the collection they can't or won't provide one and the debt is quickly sold to another company. This whole process shows how sleazy that industry is. Think of it another way, young people have aspirations to be a nurse, an engineer, a farmer or any number of other careers. Have you ever met anyone who had aspirations to be a debt collector? Probably not. So you are really dealing with the bottom feeding scum who can't even make it as a used car salesman. And the owners are probably failed lawyers who have resorted to being scam artists.
It's sad how our government has so little control over them but if you make a big enough donation to the political parties it seems you can do what ever you like.

I receive a letter from comercial credit adjuster ltd in the letter they treatme saying i am delinquant. Collection agency, all of them harrasing people and treat people AND THIS AGENCY CCA IS ONE OF THEM I WILL CALL MY LAWYER.

I work in law enforcement, we can't give out information either, it's not that we're trying to be vague it's just the law. I called them and they were asking for someone by a different name, I told them that there was no one here by that name and it was a personal cell phone. They removed me from their list and never phoned again. There can be scam agencies but I don't think this is one of them. They seemed professional on the phone but who knows (their VM was indeed awful) but if they are phoning you I would get in contact with them as collections agencies do indeed have the ability to affect your credit - better safe than sorry.

I just called them back.  They did not ask any questions...  just said they would remove my number from their calling list.  Hmmm.  No idea what is up with that.  I do not owe any one any money.

CCA is not a real collections agency. They buy expired debt for pennies on the dollar from banks and other institutions who've made their insurance claim and washed their hands. CCA is a straight-up scam. They scream, yell, and threaten. Hang up and block them. They are toothless.

To avoid harassing phone calls, send a registered letter to the company indicating that all communication must be by mail.  Do not acknowledge any debt.  (There is a statute of limitations.  For example, in Ontario the statute is 2 years.  The company can not sue on an unsecured debt if older than 2 years.)

Don't Pay Them! what kind of crap advice is this. These people call me all the time yet there is no action against my credit rating. And If I had followed your advice and gave them any amount of money I would have then been liable for the entire amount they were asking for. These people work on the principle of intimidation and if the law was in there favour you would have been sued already.

This is a Debt Collections agency with HQ at Portage Place in Winnipeg. We called them back and it turns out they were looking for a guy with the same Last Name as ours.

The problem with any agency is that the people that succeed at them are the horrible horrible ones. The ones that think nothing of someone crying on the other end of the phone call. These people make good money but feel they deserve more. So they lie a little and get rewarded which promotes more dishonesty. At some point they realize that they are working really hard but the company gets most of the money. Don't they deserve more? So maybe they should take advantage of someone's personal info and sell that on the side. At which point can you trust anyone that works at such an agency? They have no motivation to be trustworthy.
