- FrankThis is a collection agency! This is not the NRA. National Rifle Association. The collection agency is the national recovery accounts.
- Caller: National Recovery Agency
- Get EvenI made the mistake of answering one of these calls and it actually was the National Recovery Agency telling me I owed money on a creditor I didn't even know. I got an ear full so I hung up and now I pick up the phone and hit talk and then start pushing buttons on my phone. It makes it sound like a fax machine and we all know how bad that sound is in our ears. Since I have started doing this these calls have lessened a lot. Whether it is the National Recovery Agency or the National Rifle Association makes no difference in my book. They are all nuisance calls. I do this for ALL Toll Free Numbers! Try it and see if it works for you.

- Cranky2Our phone is set to ring twice and then go to recording/answering mode. That way we are not overly annoyed by the ring tone. If we recognize the number, we can pick up the phone. If we don't recognize the number, we don't pick up. We also have a phone in every room except for the dinning room and bathrooms. This number/caller never leaves a message.

- Dana replies to mikeWhy are you answering calls from numbers you don't recogize?
- Gertrude replies to mikeID shows "unknown caller". If they don't know who they are, I am not going to find out by answering. Their calling is annoying since they call multiple times a day.
- RI never pick up numbers I don't recognize. They did not leave a VM. Anytime I get a call from the NRA - National Rifle Association - it's ALWAYS a 240 (Maryland) area code, NEVER a 877 number. Therefore, I would assume it is this other bunch (assuming from the previous posts) - the National Recovery Association.

- PBFHMagnetCaller ID reads 'Unavailable'. I answered anyway and caller said they were with the 'NRA' (to make you think National Rifle Association) and asked if step-daughter was there (I know she wants nothing to do with 'real' NRA). Told them 'She doesn't live here!' Caller then asked if I was a parent. I asked if this was the 'National Rifle Association'. She responded with 'I'm with the NRA, yes'. I nicely said "I'll ask again - are you with the 'National Rifle Association'. She answered 'we're the NRA, yes'. I said "Nice try!" and hung up. My caller ID now lists 'NatlRcvryAgncy' and I will hit the 'FAX' button whenever they call. If you have a 3-in-one printer/scanner/fax hooked up with your phone line, if you have a spam or unwanted call, just hit the 'FAX' button and the machine will act like it's an incoming 'FAX' and hit them with that annoying fax tone. Many times, if it's a computer calling that switches to a person when you answer, it will register you phone as a FAX line and stop calling; sometimes though, NOT!

- jjJust got a call from this number. It was definitely the "NRA", but definitely NOT the National Rifle Association. National Recovery Agency. Scam all teh way.

- JayI didn't answer.
- Serenity replies to Skinner DIt's the National Rifle Association. I answered it once and spoke with a representative. IF it is the National Recovery Association, then they are pretending to be the NRA and asking for money to support the NRA efforts.
- prongATO| 1 replychoose option 1, then option 3, enter your phone number to be taken off the list. I'll update if this actually worked.
- Caller: NRA
- prongATO replies to prongATOforgot to mention in my above message, call the number back then follow the instructions.
- Radar replies to mikeThis is NOT the National Rifle Association, it is National Recovery Associates, a debt collector, posing as the NRA so you will answer the Phone. National Recovery Associates or sometimes National Recovery Agency even have an old out dated copy of a no longer used message that "Used" to be on the National Rifle Associations phoneline years ago which they no longer use as the real NRA wishes to speak with you when you call! The actual NRA uses REAL 800 Numbers for call out and the 877-NRA-2000 number for membership information plus their Virginia Area Code local numbers that they make callback from specific departments with!

- toldyaonceBe sure to ALWAYS call the 'spoofed' number on your caller ID vs the ACTUAL number you'e called from.
Saying "yes, we're the NRA" just means you think it's the National Rifle Association because you took the acronym for what they want you to hate. It's called being suckered and you keep getting called by "National Recovery Associates" without pressing them to admit WHICH NRA ... so, if you'd rather cry than try that ...- Call type: Debt collector
