I just this charge from my bank for $50.00.  09/03/2009  POS Debit - Visa Check Card 9945 - CHASE INTERNET FUN 877-242-7372 TX  $50.00- I never signed up for CHASE INTERNET FUN!!!  What the hell!  Now I'm stuck disputing this.  Why is CHASE bothering me.  Don't they have enough from the Obama Stimulas Package for 29Billion dollars?

I bank with Chase - and was using a different computer to access my account.  Chase system did not recognize my new computer and required that I go through a verification process which involved their automated system calling me with a one time verification code which I was to enter on the computer.  It is an automated call - I have gone through this several times whenever I access my account from a different computer. Having said that:  I'm sure their are probably some scammers who have found ways to exploit this security measure.

This number is an official number from Chase bank. If you get a call from this number giving you an activation code, and you DID NOT request one, call Chase immediately and tell them. There are only two reasons you would receive this call. 1.(However unlikely)It could be a computer error in which calling Chase can fix the problem. 2. (This is the bad one) That someone is trying to access your account at Chase bank. When trying to access your online account via a computer that Chase does not recognize as the one YOU set as your home computer, you need a verification code. It is sent to you through phone or E-mail. If you get this sent to you and you did not request it TELL CHASE! The only way to get to the verification code screen is if YOUR PASSWORD HAS BEEN CORRECTLY ENTERED!

Looks like this is a service of TeleSign (.com) I got a string of missed calls from TeleSign's system because of some Chase user has our number incorrectly listed on their account.  The string off calls were missed and went to vmail while nobody was around to answer, and TeleSign's system called repeatedly until it gave up.  So if you are listening TeleSign, please limit the number of times your system tries to call.  I called 866-355-3744, and they end up confirming they will scrub my phone number of the user's account.

Same here it is legit I just was setingg up online access and within 2 minutes I received this call to confirm ownership.

it is a legit sms. I have gotten such before, but i don't understand the different between the online wire code and phone wire code ?   Are they the same codes ?

Legit number from Chase. Forgot this was the number it came from so I looked it up and then remembered. Used for giving security codes for wire transfers and such.

If you have no account, some idiot probably put the wrong number down as their own for his/her bank account. Would suggest being a good Samaritan and calling the 866/800 - number and letting the bank know. Obviously don't give out any personal info if you don't want to - not sure if you must do so to speak to a real person to notify them of the error.

Also why can't I chose "Legit" for call type?

NOT legit, if you gave them any info, contact chase and shut down your accounts

It is NOT CHASE, I JUST got off the phone with Chase and they say it is a scam, if you EVER get a call like this, call the number on the back of your card and ask them direct

My family just moved 40 miles away and as a result had to get a new phone number after years at the old one.  Started getting calls at 6:15 a.m. with a recording from Chase saying my account is low.  When I just didn't answer, they call again at 7:30 -- not too happy about that!  I ended up calling the number and choosing option 4 (spam & pfishing) and spoke with a rep (in India, of course -- how sad is that) anyway, I explained the situation and he said he'd put in a note in that person's account for someone to call at their other number to update the phone records.  We'll see...  Fortunately, I don't have any dealings with Chase so I just called my phone provider and asked that calls from this number be blocked.  They said it would take a couple of days for the order to go thru so hopefully between the two places, these calls should stop.  Just wanted to thank the original poster as I looked the number up online before I did anything.  Sometimes, it's a lot more helpful just to find out how others handled this. :) So thank you everyone for your comments!

Reading all this is new to me .. Plus interesting... I received 2 calls from this number today 5 minuets
apart. The first one I didn't answer- they left no message.. The second one was a recording - and
said,, this call is for (an unknown name),, if you are not this person - hang up and disregard this call...
I hung up...  Thought that was unusual - and did this research ...  Will certainly keep an awareness
in mind, for any future contact from this number.....

just spoke with Chase's Faud department and they said it is the number and it can found on their website.  Not sure what to make of all the posts, but that's what they told me.

It ISN'T Chase, it's a fraud.  And so are you.

It's Chase.  I called it yesterday to report an unauthorized charge on my account.  They closed my atm/debit card, and refunded the money back to me.

Be careful cause these are fraudulant calls trying to get people passwords and accounts then steal the money from your account

Fraud! Dial the number on the back of your dot card or your bank statement or go to the real Chase website (www.chase.com) and call the number on their"contact us" section.
