I receive the call from "the office of Susan James" about twice a month. I used to work for a collection collection agency, so I know the game. I've actually tried to return their calls several times to confront them but only got an automated message. I've left several messages but no one returns my call. I received a call this past Saturday and called them right back. the phone just kept ringing. This IS harassment, and I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the Attorney general. If anyone is having the same problem I recommend doing the same. Better yet contact an attorney and take them to court.

I called this number back, a lady answered and the first thing she asked for was my number area code first. When asked why she needed my number, she answered if I wanted to know the reason why they were calling, then I needed to tell them my number. I told her I wasn't going to give her my number, rather if it was that important, they should know my address and I would've received a letter of some sort in the mail regarding whatever problem they had. She said "ok then, we'll continue to call you." and hung up on me.

I work at a callcenter for FedEx, and it's been twice I get a call from them.
WHY would anyone call 1800-GOFEDEX for something like this?

Ugh I have been getting this call for awhile now and usually they hang up. This time I got a message sayig to call the Susan James offices. They are really annoying. I read the info above about them saying they cant tell you what line of work they are in. If it a collections company (or merchantile) then they cant tell you they are a debt collector. My husband works in the feild. They are not legally allowed to say why they are calling till you give them your phone number or a refrence number. This verifies who you are and allows them to tell you why they are calling. I called back and gave the number and they were looking for the tenants downstairs who have an unlisted number so when they did a search on their address they found my number. When they found this out they actually had the balls to ask me for their number and I said please remove my number from your database and you'll have to find their number yourself, I know my rights and if you call me again I will report you. Even if the call end up being for you, as long as you tell them to remove you from the list and do not call me anymore, they have to.

It is definitely a collection agency.  They do not own the debt they collect on, and they cannot disclose the nature of the call to anyone with exception to the actual debtor or their spouse.  They also probably need the phone number that was called simply so they can see the notes on the account.  Alternatively, they can ask for your SS#, but mostly everyone declines that.

They are, unfortunately, a legit collection agency.  I paid a $50 bill through them after it was sent to collections by a local hospital.

They have offices in Rochester, NY, but are very large in Buffalo, NY.

I just received my new cell phone number as I recently moved from out of state.  The new number that I have had for the past 3 weeks obviously belonged to another woman, who has apparent financial trouble.  Since this change, I receive anywhere from 2-17 calls per day, 6 days per week from this Susan James at 877-254-0943.  There's never a person on the line, only automation, that states to call this number back.  When the number is called back, the voice mail asks for you to leave your name, phone number, and reference number, and that someone will return the call.  This never happens and I've never given my name or number to them.  My phone company can't block this number, nor can they investigate it.  Their solution is to change the number again.  I'm fed up and about to go through the hassle of changing it and re-contacting all of my contacts with yet another number.  This IS harassment.

I hate receiving these messages. They are so annoying and I always think that it is someone calling for money...so I never answer and they leave annoying recorded messages. I AM SO SICK OF THIS! MAKE IT STOP!!!!

Why don;t all of us call them---- they get charged for every call they receive
on their 800 number.

Just find a pay phone or something ( I know it;s hard) and run up their phone bills.  This works if you are waiting at an airport for a plane. But don't use your own phone.

The hell with these people !

I've been getting this call for a few months now.  I tried to call back once, and got a recording asking for an account number (??!?) along with name & phone #.  I left a message that included my phone #, asking them to have an actual person call back explaining what they wanted.

I'd really like to know why anyone would hire them for debt collections since they have such a bass-ackwards way of contacting people.  I'd never hide from a debt, but why should I go out of my way to help these people when I don't even know if it's me they're trying to reach?

This is a bill collector's number.  A friend of mine actually works for Mercantile Adjustment Bureau here in Rochester, and they are very pricky about giving out their information, because it is an attempt to collect a debt.  They want to make sure they are harrassing the right person, and they have no bones about being rude.

for about a year now . . . i as well have been getting phone calls asking me to return a phone call to the office of susan james. . . i will not call back . . . it doesnt say what it is in regards to, and it isnt ever an actual person . . . so they can SUCK IT!!!

I receitved a call from this number today.  I usually get it once a month. This time is was the office of Susan James.  Last month it was MAB.  I am on the DNC list and these calls should not be getting through.  I tired to call back and give them some of their own medicine but just got a machine.

I get this call all the time too and I am sick of it.  I am not calling it back but I want to know WHY this is happening all the time and its been for months now.

they dont say who they r calling for and y? yes i have student loan and credit card debt. im working on my cc payments.  these people need to just say why they are calling. Its really annoying they dont say why and who they are calling for.  so they need to get right to the point! If they dont want people to be rude to them. they shouldnt leave stupid message on peoples phones!

I dont know who they are, or for that fact never even heard of them. until they started calling me. but they call me about twice a month, lucky its not when i am home. maybe if they left a message with what they wanted i might give two [***], but they need to stop calling me.

this lady is pain in the ass she allway calling my phone and she calls me in tghe good times early in the morning how can i ignore this lady
