I believe this is a company called Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, which is a collection agency. I got a call from this number, but no message so I Googled the number and got this page.

I contimnuously get a call at least 10 times a week, yes 10 times a week from this number and now they are using the following local number 716-929-8200. It's aggrevating and a waste of my time. I have asked them to stop calling and they just won't go away. What can I do? Please stop calling me. It has been well over a year now more like two years. Enough already. The message says they are calling from the office of Susan James and that's all. Who is this Susan James? And why doesn't she get a life?

The office of Susan James is at it again. I get calls from these annoying people 4-5 times a week. Even on Sunday nights. The number that's calling is 877-254-0943. How do you make it stop?

I have been getting the calls for six months since I got a new cell phone and number.  First I was told to call the office of Susan James, now to call Mercantile. It is "truly insulting" to get the automated calls "telling you what to do" but it is even worse they when connected to a person who will "only ask for information" and give none.

I may have gotten one or two calls from Tommy Bell a long time ago.  But in the last year or so it's been early sat. evenings or sundays that I get the Susan James call.  About a month ago I complained to the phone company and then I started getting the calls twice a week.  Now today friday, I got the first one that said they were Mercantile.  I have been on the do not call list for years and didn't get any of these stuipd calls until the last year and half.  I also get calls that tell me I am a business.  I ask them to send me money then if I am a business.  They have said oh, I am sorry and hang up.  I tell them I don't do business or give donation over the phone, take me off your list.  Some times it has worked.

I've received the annoying call several times. I have a pay as you go plan, so those calls cost me 1 dollar plus. I have this number in my address book so that i will never accept that call again.

I've been getting this call - I called back today, and Tonia claimed that I owed from my son's hospital visit in 2003, they sent me a detailed letter in 2004, and I needed to remit $140.  No, they didn't have details to send out to me again - they sent it to me in 2004.  I insisted that there must be some mistake and I'd be happy to sort things out if she sent me detailed info - she got beligerant and said "So you're refusing payment?" and then "you're a waste of time" and she hung up.  I called back and asked for her name and supervisor - she only has a first name and the supervisor is not there.  And the same person answered (usually debt collection agencies are bigger - not the same person would answer is my guess).

Good to confirm that it's a scam with all the stories here!

Same thing here - office of susan james, I owe $175 from an emergency room visit in 2003.      I'm like, really?   And they have no information, other than they are trying to collect old debt.  I think it's a scam.

I kept receiving calls on my cell from this number, I called they identified theirselves a Mercantile, I said I was getting calls on my cell, they asked for the number I gave it and they said Amy R___ I said no, that we just changed cell phone plans and I was given a new number.  They said they would remove my name.  I will wait and see, the indiviudal Tanya was perfectly polite but sounded tired.  I have to figure they get this alot, I mean I know there are people out there who do owe money and I also know cell phone companies reuse phone numbers so it is not surprising that someone one who could not pay their phone bills lost their phone and the number was given to someone else.  The only thing I do is I won't return any calls on my cell that I don't know as I pay for each call, I wait and call on a land line.

I don't why these people or number keeps calling me.  I don't know who they are or what they but I want them to stop.  I am not going to call this back.  If a real person can't be on the phone then to hell with them.  Someone stop these people.  I owe no any money.  Who are they????????????

2 calls from this number, my voicemail cut off the beginning of the automated message. Next time i answered and couldn't understand the name.

Called and said i had 2 calls and wished to be removed from whatever list they had me on, was asked for my phone number and gave it. She then said a woman's name, i said no never heard of her, and she said "ok then no problem i will remove your number, sorry" I do have to say she was very nice and polite. All is well if she does actually remove my number.

I get an automated call from this # twice a day...it's very annoying as they call late at night.
I finally got through to someone and after I asked for my number to be removed, she said it was removed then it busied...THIS IS harassment as they call when they are not open and then you have to try and chase them down...

Ok so we have gotten the calls for Susan James and now the new one says it is a call for.......pause for 2 min.........NAME.  But more importantly I got a bill from these same people a while back for a credit card that I don't recognize the name of....so I called and asked what companys card it was they refused to tell me.  I told them they could have their $47.29 when they could prove to me I actually owed it......needless to say I still get the peices of paper occasionally but I have never paid the money.  We have also recived bills for REAL medical debt.  But I do not trust these people at all.  I see people are getting calls from a 716 number and linking all this to a company in Rochester NY.  Odd as the area code in Rochester is 585 they changed it years ago.   anyway just my 2 cents

"You have reached the medical collections department, be are busy and can not come to the phone, please leave your name and your number and we will get back to you" thats what i got when i called this number.

I've been getting a call from this number also. Never left a message until a day ago, saying that I needed to call the "office of Susan James." I sort of figured it was a debt collector, seeing how they didn't even mention why they were calling. But I googled the number and got this page, so apparently I was correct.

They called my husband today and tried to tell him that he owes a $700.00+ light bill and wanted him to make a payment over the phone. We have been married for 10 years and the lights are in my name. His phone number is not even listed on the account. This is a scam. Report them immediately.
