I just had a Call from this company.. I understand they are just doing their jobs. But the person I spoke with was rude and consending with me. When I told them I had no source of income the dude refers to me to a Loan Agency. its like getting out of one debt back into another ><.

I am sorry but this collection agency needs to learn better phone manners and learn to listen to people when they speak to them... Absolutely ridiculous

These people kept calling me about my son. I finally had to tell my son to call them back.
All because my son did not pay a couple of bills for three or four years.
This is ridiculous. Not everyone pays their bills on time.

We have been called repeatedly over the past two (2) years.   Same story as all the other people being wrongly called.   Another number used by ACRM is 855-833-9985.   Today, after another call, I managed, with the help of Ontario Consumer Protection Service, 1-800-889-9768 and the Bell Do Not Call lists, which I have been on for many years, to discover that Mr. Paul Esteves is President and Owner of ACRM; located at 716 Gordon Baker Road, Suite 212, Toronto, ON, M2H 3B4.   As I am a businessman, and very thorough, I called Mr. Esteves directly to explain that ACRM uses a wasteful and foolish approach, calling hundreds of innocent victims, like all of the above, and us.   Our credit rating is an open book, spotless and available to any serious inquiries through his bank.   Obviously, he and his associates never do the obvious thing and find out who they robo-call beforehand.    This must cost Mr. Esteves huge sums in telephone, personnel overhead, office space, legal fees all yielding no collections.   ACRM claims, on its Web-Site: "No Collection = No charge".   I want to tell Mr. Esteves that his business model is generating huge costs for no charge; it annoys everyone, opens him up to a bad BBB reputation, provincial law processes, and legal fees, executive time to repair or defend his poor reputation, all to no avail.   A very  foolish, ineffective way to run a business!

I just read your post, you have laid a complaint with the BBB which in actuality it should have been laid with Consumer and Corporate Affairs as these are the individuals who license this company.  This company is licensed under the collection act. I will be laying a complaint tomorrow morning on a Mr. Hung.

Hi there, active collections started calling me the other day about a Bell bill that that wasnt aware till months later because I have move in April  2003 but when I found out in September 2003, I then settled the account with Bell at that time. Fast forward to this day, the callers have called multiple times harrasing my wife while I'm at work, I then called my bank to provide proof of payment but the bank stated that data over 6 years gets wiped clean, Bell was no help either because they have no record once they closed the account. I then contacted active by email asking them for written information and the following day they replied with a settlement offer falsely saying I requested it. I checked them up online and saw the BBB rating, that made me laugh, go figure :) anyway I contacted Aktiv (the company that subcontracted the file to active) and expained my story to the agent, she was respectfully lisened and was nice enough to say that if I fax an affidavit stating the facts on this matter, she would be able to withdraw and close my file, hope this is useful to some of you... Will update with any further developments.

    Frustrated.
At least 20 calls from them since January. This for someone who doesn't live here, never has.

At least a dozen times I've asked them to not call back. They say they will remove me from their list. I ask for a name or transaction # and they become defensive and arrogant.

They just don't care. They are rude and obviously care little about the disruption they cause.

Action Collections website says "our agents are trained with high ethical standards..." REALLY? Harrassing people who don't deserve to be harrassed is ethical?  I wonder if they should be spammed each time they keep calling back and don't respect my requests.

Know your "rights". Formally ask them to stop (keep copy). When they don't, file a complaint with Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services, and call the ministry again when it still doesn't stop.
Your "rights" when dealing with collection agencies: http://www.sse.gov.on.ca/mcs/en/Pages/Persona ... ncy_Rights.aspx
    To file a complaint:
    http://www.sse.gov.on.ca/mcs/en/Pages/Complaint_Steps_to_File.aspx

Seems obvious there are no penalties for not following the regulations.

    Mad as Harold
These jokers have been calling our number for 4-5 years looking for someone named Trevor John Williams , the calls come 1-2 times per week, this name is not close to ours. Normally as we hear the ACRM intro we hang up, but this time i carefully recorded the full name & thanks to this site i will go after them. As of 2012 they are suspended from the B.B.B.

These people keep calling my number for someone else. I gave him my number 2 weeks ago to remove it and they called again today. I asked him why they are still calling this number. He said it is because I didn't give him my name. I didn't feel it necessary to give him my name as he has my number. He was rude so I gave him my number and name but he was NOT listening at this point. He is a very ignorant young man who I wish not to talk to again.  How can I get my number removed from this companys' list?

They have been calling me for three months now, about three times a week. The calls are for a person I do not know. I own this phone number for over two years, so it's either their mistake or they have been forwarded the wrong number. Unfortunately their robot cannot interpret my answering machine. Continuous robotic calls should be illegal. It is not only annoying, anyone could use this method to monitor when you and your neighbors are home. After three months you have quite a reliable profile on the neighborhood and when it is a good time for a break in. It is so unfair, because I am really cautios to whom I give my phone number, it is not even in the phone books. Filed a complaint at the BBB today.

Jokers have been filling up my message machine for about 6 months. They are unwilling to provide any info on who they are trying to collect for or even how much they want. They are not alleging that I owe them any money. I have invited them to send any info that they have about any debt that is owing to my address. I have received nothing. It would appear to me that they are a general nuisance as opposed to a legitimate debt collection agency.

Staff are reluctant to identify themselves. Seems most likely that they are trying to collect ficticious debts from gullable people.

I have been having the same problem as every one else on here. They have been calling me for months for someone who doesn't live here and never has. I have asked to be removed from their list but yet keep getting phone calls every other day. I will again try calling them tomorrow and if these phone calls persist I will get in touch with a lawyer, this is ridiculous, they shouldn't be allowed to constantly harass people.

I Just got a call from this company today telling me that I owed money from a Bell bill from 2003. ??? That seems quite impossible considering that I've never been with Bell. I asked them to send me some proof. I thought it was someone scamming me.
Lets see what they send me.
