I just got a phone call also about a Bell bill from 2003.  I have a Bell account and have never had any issues with delayed or missed payments. In fact all their communication says I am their "valued" customer. When I tried to tell this agent that i have no idea what he was talking about he became rude and belligerent. He wanted my email to send me a letter which I refused to give. They can give me no information relating to the bill i.e. address. I am so taken aback. For someone who pays all their bills and taxes it is a huge affront to be treated this way.

ps: collecting agency should never get to you buy phone, it is against the law. They ALWAYS have to send a registered letter first...

they get people's names from phone company like BELL who gives them bad clients' name. Those list are valuable on the black market.

The same thing happens to me. A Bell's bill too, dating from 2000. Little did they know, it is against the law to ask for money 5 years after. When I told them I didn't owed anything, they became violent over the phone.

They get their lists from Bell, they trace 'late payment clients' or even good ones that once were late, and they harass them. Big money to be made there ...

Know your rights, you can send them also a layers letter...

That said, the previous collecting agency, that I could get rid off, sold my name to 'action collection' so now I have their automatic message every night. I am not listed in any phone book, and I have no cell phone, so 1+1 is two....they got it from the other a...whole.

I have no debts, I never had, I have no car, no mortgage, just pay rent and I have a permanent job, so money is never an issue.

Paul u need to find yourself a life and a better job making 9 bucks ano hour would make anyone feel as low as you do but if you feel that herrassing people makes you a big man look in the mirror and relize how pathetic you really are

You guys are a joke company that buys debts that cannot be collected for dirt cheap and harress people thinking they will pay for anyone these [***] are doing this to check your credit report because that is there threat but most of the debts are so old they cannot touch you

Some of you [***]/ low lives should really take a look at your lives. You take loans and then not pay and expect everything to be fine. Get of your lazy [***] and go get a job its not hard to get one and then go pay your bills. You guys r complaining about collection agencies hey at least they have more money than u do and they are paying their bills NOT LIKE U living on welfare sitting home and being a bummmm!

if you had to give your email they would most likely send you a file explaining the debt amount and when you took it. Stupid dumb fk

The reason they have your information is because when you take loan you have to write named of reference. When your ex went to take out loan(especially if its moneymart/cash store/payday loans) he must have written your name and number as a Reference that how it works in the collection agency i work at.  All you have to do is tell them firmly "Please Remove my number from your list I do not want to be contacted" They will remove the number, by law if you are a reference they should remove it UNLESS the person who took loan listed your number a primary contact number or he spoke to the collection agency through your number then they wont remove it.

Only thing they can do is calling you ...and when they keep calling that just prove it...just avoid them every 6 months that will change and go to another collections place

I probably make way more money than you ...and I love my money ...I don't just give it away to scumbags who try to collect debts I don't have to pay and so hold that not even affect my credit anymore...I have a good credit card and a nice car

They call our number for a person who doesn't and has never lived at our address, I'm guessing they had the Phone number before us, I just added them to call block

Keep getting calls at my number which I just got a month ago 780-934-3293 by action collections told them they have wrong number . They still keep calling

This company will call and harass your minor children - based on old numbers they have for random people. Be very careful, as they use very scary means of intimidating your children. This company should be investigated by the RCMP for their tactics.
