- AshelyFred Thomas called and asked me to return his call today regarding an important MCOA/NCOA on his desk. I called back and kept getting VM. Well I don't this serious for one because they called me by my maiden name & for two by my middle name. No serious matter has EVER left my entire name on my VM

- Robert Palos Heights IllinoisI received a letter Municipal Collections of America, Inc. Demanding payment of $337.50 for a code violation # 16-3002.
I tried to go to the web site listed on letter but it does not exist. I then did a reverse phone # lookup and found it is a scam. I will send a copy to the FBI and The US post Office. If this is a scam using the US Mail it is a Federal offence.- Caller: Municipal Collections of America, Inc.
- ReneI have been getting messages from this number all week but have not answered. They did leave a message saying to call them back on an important business matter. After goggling the number and seeing that it may be a scam. I am defiantly not calling back.

- Jennifer TreesI received a call and they wanted a payment for two speed camera citations in Windsor Heights, IA. I probed to find out more and found out they don't report to national credit agencies or the DMV. I guess it's the equivalent to Wal-Mart writing you a traffic violation, from what I have heard.

- JThis is collection agency for automated speed/red light tickets. The collection agency is rude as can be. When I called them and said I wouldn't pay for than the fine and I would pay it over the phone right that minute the lady said she was marking it as a refusal. When I asked for her name she wouldn't answer me and just hung up. When I called back the next lady wasn't much nicer and rushed me off the phone because she had another call. I've never had a customer service person say they have to get off the phone with you to take another call. I will NOT be paying these people. I'm not 100% sure they are a legitimate company and not a scam.

- OH residentI keep getting calls from this number for my son who hasn't lived here for 10 years. It's really hard to understand, but I think she says it from MCOA. If it's about traffic tickets, it's a scam because he didn't have a car or driver's license when he last lived at this address.

- Sally| 1 replyI received a call from this number from a Fred Thomas saying that he was with a collection agency and that I had an outstanding speeding ticket. Months back I had received a ticket in the mail from a camera showing a picture of my license plate. I was not driving the car. A relative had borrowed it so I filled out all of the paperwork showing that I was not the driver and faxed it multiple times. I explained this to Fred and he said that it did not matter if I was driving or not. Since the car was registered in my name then I was legally responsible for the $300 speeding ticket. I informed him that I would not pay for a ticket for something that I did not do and he said that it would go on my credit report if I did not pay.

- JackReacher replies to SallyThat may be correct. This is not consumer debt, so I'm not sure it could go on your credit report. It would have been a simple matter to get the money from the relative and pay the fine, as it would be now. Or you can try to fight it in court. Most likely that will take a lawyer and cost a lot more.
You also made an error in faxing that paperwork. You should have mailed it certified, return receipt. Always send any legal paperwork that way. - JennieCaller ID classified the number as Lansing, IL (708-455-4046) however, this was the call back number provided in the voicemail. "Kim Brown" stated she was with NCOA and I needed to give them a call regarding an urgent business matter. No additional information provided. I will not be calling back.

- Alex SlezakReceived a voicemail from representative named Monica from "MCOA" about "an urgent business matter". Simply plugging the callback number into Google I see that this is apparently an ongoing scam of some kind, and I've had this issue from (assumably) the same company over the past year or two over a "citation" unpaid from an area where I don't even live.

- Alabama Resident Too replies to Alabama ResidentIt’s a traffic camera violation “bill”. Mine was from the Tuscaloosa, AL PD. I remember running the light that day, but it was completely unintentional. It had just came a down pour and just like that, it was over with and the sun was shining bright as hell. My view was temporarily obstructed due to this and when I did see the light it was just turning from yellow to red, I applied my brakes and I couldn’t stop as I started sliding. I did get a copy of this legit looking, but phony ticket. Phony in the sense that it isn’t really a “ticket”, so to speak. Yes, you or someone driving a vehicle with a tag on it that is registered in your name, supposedly violated a traffic law in said/county, at this date and time, they recorded the infraction, here’s a picture of the vehicle with your tag, and computer printed signature of this said LEO who viewed the event and approved it. Here’s the kicker though, it’s just a scare tactic to get you to pay them. It is CIVIL, not criminal, and no criminal proceedings will come from this. You can dispose of said “citation” and tell them where to stick it. You cannot be arrested. No one will come to your house, no warrant, nada! Most that can come out of these is they are eventually placed on your credit report as a collections debt. This is easily rectified by disputing the item with the credit bureau and when they ask for proof that your responsible from MCOS, they cannot produce, and it’s removed from your reports.
Never admit to knowing anything about it or receiving anything concerning it. 🤫
Sorry so long, but hope this helps! - CarolI can't understand the name of the woman who called, but she said she was from MCOA and we should call her immediately about an important business matter. I looked up the number and found this site.
