They called claiming to be from AAA and needed to renew.  No. I don't need to renew.  I don't have a car.  They didn't know what to say.  And they were calling the WRONG number.  The number they used is NOT available to AAA and is not published anywhere with my name [they got the name wrong for the # also since my AAA had a special version of my name with just my first two initials and no name on it.  I'm NOT Patrick].  SCAMMER.  Blocked on Google voice.  The next time they call, they will get a "This number is no longer in service message.

SCAM ALERT:
Caller said I was an AAA member with auto renew and they needed to update my credit card.  I don't have AAA auto renew and no one legitimate will ask for your credit card info over the phone anyway so I knew it was a scam.  Hang up - better yet, don't answer in the first place and block the number.

I received a call from this # at 8:49 pm. I did not answer. They did not leave a message.

I received a call this morning from my area code. I asked where she was from she said Idaho. I told her that wasn't what my phone said ,she had an exclamation but with all the scams going on I'm not sure it really was legitimate . So I called your number on my AAA card and asked them to help . They finally agreed to connect me with your retention department when that number answered they identified themselves as Select Quote" no connection to AAA " with all the crap going on how can AAA expect people to trust who is really calling ? I like the security I have always felt from being covered by AAA but you must come up with a better way ! Thank you

SCAMMERS???    Just got a call from someone on my cell phone saying she's from AAA and needed to update my credit card info for my renewal.  It felt weird so I asked for a call back number.  I called back and a guy answered and again, it just didn't feel right. He asked for the phone number that I was reached on.  I hung up.  Have you ever called a company like AAA in the evening and got a live person???  Anyway, I just went online and renewed that way.  Better to be safe than sorry.

This is AAA. They were contacting me as a convenience call to update my credit card information for my automatic renewal. I'm glad they did because I don't pay attention to all the mail they send and my membership would have lapsed. I spoke to a really nice person. They were persistent and called several times but I'm glad they did!

got a cal for renewal and also a 50% discount - the lady got my name and address and even my AAA temp #. But she was too fast asking my credit card number so I quickly checked this phone number and read all the messages! Thanks everyone for putting the messages here!

Just because this is the actual number for AAA doesn't mean that that is actually the number calling. Scammers can spoof any legit number; be cautious with any number calling that you don't know.

First of all, I understand the concerns, however, this is a legit number. I worked for AAA and we called people 9 AM to 9 PM EST for expired renewals ALLLL the time.  Some people freaked out, some didn't.  It is completely 100% real, though...not a fake company or phishing scam.   We generally gave people their AAA numbers over the phone and if they were nervous about renewing when we called, told them to go the website or use the number off the website to call back to renew.

I know this is old, but want to comment in the event others search for this number. Start with the fact that if AAA called you, they already have your AAA membership number. Had you asked for them to repeat your number for verification, they would have. The person you called asked because you called them.  And she is dead wrong -- AAA has a renewal department that calls expired members trying to get them to renew from this number and they do call from 9am to 9pm. I worked for them a year ago. I quit because I didn't like calling people in their homes but the number is legit. They are eager to take your credit card because the agent calling you has to get so many renewals per night to keep her job.

I just cancelled my AAA account because I have the same service from my new auto insurance policy. They have called me and left no VM and I blocked them. They still call.

I do not under any circumstance answer phone calls I do not know.  If this is AAA if they continue to harass my phone line, I will cut them off.  I am on automatic pay and just renewed.  I am a big girl and know what I want and will call you if I want it.  Tell them to stop calling people who obviously don't want to be bothered.  It's annoying and only pisses loyal customers off.  Please pass this along.

I just got a phone call at 8:56 PM of my time. My AAA membership recently expired, but so did the wonderful nap that I was taking. Will not be renewing my AAA membership with them. I will call Good Sam.

I repeatedly receive calls from this number.  They are typically around dinner time.  I don't answer and they have never left a message

This turned out to be legit for me.  Charge showed up next day on credit card for AAA.  But probably not a great way to do things (giving out CC to someone that called you).  He just had so much info from the AAA - that is seemed legit - and was (this time)

They also have been calling me at 8pm Eastern or a little later, which is a problem in that 8 is my bedtime. :(
