I followed up with DISH Network and this definitely is a third-party vendor of theirs. If you don't want to sign up, tell them so and tell them to take your number off their list and stop calling. If they still call, contact DISH at 1-888-825-2557 and report this activity.

This number---------     8882859984------------------- has called every day for a couple of weeks.  I suspect they are also the ones who call "anonymous" or "unavailable".  I am sick to death of them, and I am on the Do Not Call list.  A couple of months ago it was calls from credit card companies and banks, some trying to get my account numbers when I used to answer the rings.   I no longer answer any number with which I am not familiar.  Though by doing this, I feel I am not getting full use of my telephone.
Is there nothing to be done about these disgusting calls?    Sincerely,   vburdick@velocity.net

This is Dish Network, who we previously had and recently canceled.  They called once after cancellation with what was a routine follow up call, but since then keep calling either hanging up immediately or saying 'wrong number' and hanging up.

The national pandemic of telephone terrorism perpetrated by desperate criminal collection agencies is because they are trying to terrorize people who are naive enough to answer and submit to unsolicited telephone calls or written "collection" letters that have no legitimate legal debt associated with them or any of the companies, universities, or whomever else they claim to represent. Because most "little guys" were bankrupted by the criminal Wall St/Congress/Big Oil/Big Bankers/Big Business/Military/Robber Barons, so the desperate collection agencies are attempting to collect unpaid debts from innocent people by terrorizing them into submission.

Word of advice. NEVER answer any calls you don't recognize or are not expecting. Use selective call rejection service if available, or switch to an Internet-based telephone service which provides comprehensive call rejection options. If rogue calls become chronic, turn off all the ringers on all of your phones except one, and set its volume to the minimum setting. If you don't answer the call and the caller is legitimate, they will usually leave a voicemail after the first or second try. Rogue callers never leave voicemail messages because that could be used as evidence against them if it came to a lawsuit. If you receive a rogue letter in the mail warning you of some "collection" action against you, if you don't actually owe it, reply with a short letter stating that you don't owe it. Or if you do owe all or part of it, reply with something like "You claim I owe you a debt. Under §809 FDCPA, I request validation of this debt."

Only give them your name as THEY have written it to you (e.g. “John Doe” not “Jonathon Q. Doe” or however you normally sign your own name), address, and the account number they report. But if you do not owe the debt (zombie debt, aged debt, mistaken or stolen identity, forgery, etc.) state that you have never done any business with them or with the (alleged) original creditor of any kind and you expect the collection agency to close the matter, stop harassing you and take any bad credit marks they've caused off of your credit rating, and furthermore, that any further contact from them must be in writing on their official business correspondence letterhead. Send your letter to them a.s.a.p., always within thirty days, first class certified mail return receipt requested. If they refuse it and you get the letter back unopened, leave it unopened and save it in your files as evidence against them should they pursue legal action against you. If they did receive it and continue to pursue action against you, let them. The judge will throw it out of court. If the rogue collection agency sells your account to another rogue collection agency just tell them the claim has been proven invalid and offer to send them a copy of your letter to the previous rogue collection agency. Warn all your friends about this rash of desperate collection agency terrorism, and how to combat it. Knowledge is power. The more you learn how to combat rogue collection agencies, back-taxes scammers, phishing scammers, and other flimflammers, the more you will learn how easy it is to do.

Above all, keep a record of everything, of every rogue call w/ caller ID information displayed including time and day of each call. Maintain a complete file on any snail-mailed intimidation from rogue collection agencies, including copies of all correspondences and postal receipts. Reporting rogue calls on sites like
800notes.com, whocallsme.com, phoneowner.info is a great idea too, because many people find these sites by googling for the rogue number(s) after receiving calls from them.

I received a call from this number. I did not answer and they did not leave a message. I called the number back, and it was Dish Network Marketing & Sales. By choosing option #2, from a recording, I was able to add my number to their "do not call list".

    Sherry
Have received multiple calls from this number in the last several days. After looking on here, I decided to answer the call. They identified themselves as Dish Network and asked to speak to my husband. I told them that he was not home. I was then asked to turn my television to channel 9901 and tell the operator what my screen message said. "Congratulations, you are looking at the 61.5 degree orbital location" I was informed that a tech needed to come to my home (free of charge)  to change some equipment or else after October 13, we would no longer be able to view all of our HD channels as the 61.5 location was going to "disappear". I refused to make an appointment until I verified for a fact that this was a legitimate call and a necessary action that needed to be taken. The operator then attempted to strong arm me into making an appointment. Still I refused and told him that I would call back and make the appointment when it was convenient for me, since every day of the week I am not home for large chunks of the day. 30 minutes later they called me again. I called the number back and it IS indeed Dish network, but I am still not able to verify if this "fix" is mandatory.

They call me every day and I never answer and they never leave a message.

I just called this number back to see what would happen and it rang off the hook. No answering service or anything.

Sherry, I doubt it is real, they just want to steal your equipment. If you are really concerned you should call Dish and ask them about it. But I would think that they'd put a message in your bill, at least. Or record one of their messages on your DVR about the "new changes".

I'm glad to see that I'm NOT the only person being bothered by this stupid company.  They call almost every day.  I've seen the number on my Caller ID but they don't leave a message.  I used to be a DISH Network customer but have had cable for over a year now.  I've told them that more than once, and they still call.  I intend to report this to the Do Not Call Registry.  Not that it will do any good...but it couldn't hurt.  I'm sick of the calls.  To me, no thank you means NO thank you!!  Enough already!!!

This is a total scam. I get 15 calls a day from these jerks. I called Dish and they said it is not them calling. Its something called Phreaking, where someone uses a real company's name and # to get private info from customers. Im so glad Sherry did not them in her house. I finally aswered the call yesterday and a very rude woman said this is Dish, and I said no you are not, I just got off the phone with Dish. She then started to scream at me and I told her if they call again I am calling the police and filing a report with FCC. I have not had a call for 24 hours now!  YIPPIE

I firmly believe this is a phishing scam as they asked for a credit card number so they could hold an hd box for me for ONLY a dollar.  I told them I would personally call Dish Network and the guy said he would give the direct number for "migrations."  I hung up
