I am just wondering how many others on here list stuff on Craigslist? That is the ONLY place I use the number they are calling which is a Google Voice number that forwards to my phone. It is not published and an internet search comes up with nothing for my number. I am thinking that perhaps some type of bot is harvesting the number from Craigslist ads. I try to make the number difficult for bots to spot by spacing the numbers in an odd way or by spelling out some of the numbers but these bots are getting smart.

Listed as toll free,I have received three calls in about a week from this number and each time, I say hello twice and someone hangs up. It doesn't appear to be an automated call, rather, there is a person on the other end who says nothing and then hangs up. It is Dish Networks sales and marketing. I called back and had my number put on the no call list. I am a customer of Dish, so this is infuriating. Dish must really be desperate and slimy to do this.

I have been called by this number every half hour today from noon til three today.  Get the same "room full of people" sound on the answering machine that other people have mentioned.  I wonder if they are trying to call the modem in my Dish network reciever?  Does that even make sense?

It is Dish Network.  I called the number is it connected to "Dish Network Marketing and Sales".

I began receiving calls from this number sometimes 15 minutes apart 10 times a day. My caller ID identifies it as toll free caller. When ever the answering machine answers, they leave no message so I finally answered it one day and was told that it was Dish Network looking to reposition my dish and upgrade my receiver. They told me that all of these changes were at no cost to me but they needed a credit card number in case I were to up and leave and not return their equipment.

I declined and called the number that I know to be Dish Network. 800-333-DISH and they informed me that it is a scam. Told me to never give any of that type of info to someone who calls me. They have been looking into who is doing this but she told me that Dish would send me a letter if a change like that needed to be made.

I would imagine that when you call this number back, and it sounds like DISH, it is just a replica of Dish's answering service. Crooks can be rather sophisticated these days. I don't think it would take much to set up something like that.

If you ever get a call from someone claiming to be dish network, hang up and call back the number on Dish's website that you know to be them.

I have caller ID and have been receiving this number 888-285-9984 at least twice a day for the past 2 weeks. They never leave a message. So today I decided to answer the phone and it was a woman asking if I was Mr. or  Mrs._____. I said Yes. She then said that within a month we would lose our High Definition signal. She wanted to make sure that would not happen to me. I told her I talked to a Dish person recently and our dish was fine. She had nothing else to say so we ended our conversation.  So then I called Dish Network. The person I spoke to knew nothing about this service and said he'd submit a request to look into it. I feel it was a scam of some sort and I wish I knew what they are really after.

Did anyone ever stop to think when you are prompted to remove your number by them, that all you're doing is verifying your number to them, without giving them any further information. That is why you keep getting the calls. Does this make sense?

Counted missed calls in 1 week from this #.  6 calls.  Answering machine was actually broken at the time. Now that it's fixed, that's where the messages will be going, if they leave one. I have received msgs previously, with sounds of a room full of people. Always thought it was a wrong #. Never thought to write it down. Just erased it. I will still be doing that in the future.

we got this call today when I answered it I said hello and a mechanical voice said good bye...

If you have time for these silly people, just do what I do; do not say hello just start laughing and try to keep them on line as long as you can.  Act like you are a nut case.  My husband pretend to be a sick person and blow a whistle in their ear.  We make a joke out of them.  Do not talk to them; do not let them get one word in; just keep laughing, making silly noises etc.  We try to turn the tables on them but in a way we get the last laugh!
We have put these crazy numbers on the report list and they keep on and on so why not have a little fun with them.

Call once per day list two weeks. Dish s hiring these punks I bet. I also filed complaint

Got a call 888 285 9984.They left a message wanting to lower the interest rate on my credit card.It wasn't dish network.

Have rec d several calls from this # in the last few days. This is obviously a SCAMMER trying to get your financial/credit/banking info. If i wanted to return to dish, after I changed to DirecTV, because my dish connection couldn't get rec eption for HDTV where I live, I would call DISH on their service #, NOT this #!!

Just got a call from 888-285-9984, since it was a toll free number I did not pick up. They hung up after four rings and before the answering machine. When I came on here to check the number I saw it was DISH. Well, since I am expecting them to come out tomorrow, I thought I'd better call the number back. When I did it was Sales and an auto voice message. When it asked if I wanted to stop receiving calls from Sales to push 2, I did, and they said that this number was already on their do not call list! They ask if there was another number I wanted on the DNC list and I pushed no. Then that was it.

So, it is DISH Sales.

I went ahead and called the 800-333-DISH number and spoke with a Michelle and gave her that number - 888.285.99784 and ask her about it. She said it could be related to the work order for tomorrow, but it could be a scam and not to call that number back and she would check into it. So, I don't think it is DISH, it is a scam. She said there are people claiming to be DISH that are asking for your full SSN, which DISH doesn't do. So, it's a scam.

Call from this number; didn't recognize it, so I didn't answer. No message left.

I`m a former Dish customer that had to open a BBB case to get a refund owed me.
Calls 2-3 times daily.
I`m on the Do not call list.
I will not answer these calls.

caller id said 'toll free call' - they hung up seconds after my announcement started.  honestly, the calls have gotten worse since i refreshed my number(s) on the do not call list.  does anyone else feel this is happening to them?  i refuse to answer any calls that are unidentified but look here and see they are all marketing or scammers.  i have noted 12 numbers that fit that criteria - plus a few local marketing efforts.

I received 6 calls from them today( Saturday) One right after the other, I gave them a few choice words, because I was up a ladder, and fell when trying to get down to answer the phone,I guess they loved the choice words that's when they kept calling back. I got through to a sales lady, names Batch, and told her she had better make sure they would get me off the list, and said she would put me through to the no call list, I told her she better not put me through to any-one, that if they called again, I would take them to court, ANY_ONE WANT TO JOIN ME FOR A AW SUIT against Dish Net Work, they called me three times the day before.
