- MCSame crap happened to me. The rep's name was 'Crystal' and when she started yelling at me, I knew something was up. I asked for a super, who ID'd herself as 'Dominique'. I said I wanted to file a written complaint and asked for the company's mailing address. That's when the phone line went dead. I called back later, but the new rep kept asking me how long I had dish, no matter what I asked. He explained that it was his job. The reps seem to have no choice. It's the management that we need to identify and go after. DIRECT TV has to know of this practice. I don't care how low the cost is there, if they gain your business by fraud, what do you think they'll do when the chips are down with their profits. All that glitters .. and all that! A word to the wise.
- NAI called thinking it was Dish, and not until I told him my issue with Dish and gave him my name and address did he tell me he was a licensed retailer for Direct TV. He was very polite and gave me a very reasonable quote. But knowing he was pushing a sale, I lied and told him I was under contract with Dish. That ended our phone call.
- secret shopperthis is not a scam , they tell you that they are an authorized retailer for directv , pay attention to where you are calling , you people called the wrong number
- KSMITTYThey asked me for my address and name and I thought it was dish they told me no this is not you have reached directv satellite and I was pretty upset. At least the rep was polite about everything and explained how I got them. I ended up getting a quote to compare bills but think I will wait to switch until after we move this summer.
- CharlieI'm a former employee of Dishnetwork and I know very well about all these retailers and sales partners out there. If you choose to go with Dish, I recommend going directly to the company and NOT to a retailer. No matter what retailer or sales partner you go with, the scams repeat themselves again and again. I heard the complaints for years.
- Check the RecordsJust Google "Dish 1 Up Satellite" and you will find out more than you would ever want to know about the family that runs this company and Fun Dish. No way DirectTV should be doing business with them. Money means more than ethics.
- fmaryyeah, I fell for it too. I am in AZ & called the number listed on the Dish Network's homepage. This is where I think the problem is. I did not know Dish's number so I looked it up on Yahoo. Clicked on the "offical Site" link and got the 'homepage'. There is no way for me to know now what site I was on but after all of the BS of cancelling my order, one of Direct's reps says to me "We cant be responsible for what Dish puts on their website", I knew it was the site. I never signed for the equipment and now 'Direct' is telling me I have to reearch it with UPS. hey threaten my credit and sicking a collector on me. The numbers they call me from are 888-347-4077 and 330-405-0071.
- Sarah Cfmary: I am a representative of this phone number. I am sorry for the confusion with your order. Please call us and ask to speak to a supervisor so we can rectify any issues you are having.
- it is a scamNot all of the customer service representives identify themselves immediately. Most of them have been not only deceptive, but rude. Its just dishonest. They offered to refund shipping cost only if we kept their services after waiting a week and a half for equipment and installation. We told them that we did not get the services we were promised and we wanted to cancel. We were told we could cancel but would be charged 49.99 to ship the equipment back. SCAM!!
- Caller: fun dish
- sarahreply to: it is a scam - please call us and ask to speak to a supervisor so we can get your issues straightened out.
- Sylvia HWow NFO. Thats harsh. We wish nothing but the best for you. If anyone wants to get the best DIRECTV deal around give us a call.
- Nicole D., Stephenville, TXMy letter to DISH.
I called y'all last night to get a PPV movie. I dialed 888 333 DISH by mistake. I didn't realize this. The recording said DISH ONE UP & a rep got on the phone. She offered me a better deal than what I was paying now, required my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER to run a background check to make sure I qualified. I gave it to her. She then told me I would get a $100 Visa gift card if I gave her my account number for auto-withdraw & used that for payment the next 60 days. That's when I got suspicious & would not give that out. She had told me not to pay the bill that I have due on the 28th since I was paying a month ahead of time. Earlier in the conversation she had said something about DIRECTV. I asked her if the two of y'all merged. Her answer was vague, but it lead me to believe y'all were now sister companies.
I don't know if this was legitimate. But the recording when you call mentions DISH. So it's easy to see why someone would believe they are talking to DISH.
I am concerned now that I gave my SS# to a stranger.
I know that is not your problem. But if this is a LEGITIMATE way Directv does business, it's disgusting. I feel confident that DISH would never handle themselves in the same such way.
Y'all probably can't do anything about it, but their recording should not mention your name. And to have a rep tell me I am such a good customer (when now I know I wasn't THEIR customer), they are going to give me a deal. So misleading. I just hope it was a rep from the competitors & not someone that's stealing identities. - DIANA ZIMMERMANI have a charge on my credit card and I have never answered to any phone number but I see this number on my card transaction
- dwd3012I have made the same mistake. I opened the DISH webpage and saw that their number is 888-232-2202 and in my haste dialed 800-232-2202. I wasn’t until I had given all my information and was approved for service that the representative revealed himself as a DIRECT TV contractor. I told him that I had dialed DISH but he insisted I had dialed DIRECT TV. It wasn't until after the phone call that I put it all together. One service is about the same as the other. But I don't appreciate the way DIRECT TV is allowing their contractors to conduct business. DIRECT TV cannot expect everyone to believe that the executives are not aware of what is going on. I will keep my basic service for two years. Rent ALL movies from NETFLIX, and subscribe to a new service at the end of the contract.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Scatter29I live in the country and we do not have access to cable, so a dish is our only hope for TV. I had Dish once before and the service was not good. When the contract was up, I went with Direct TV. They are worse than Dish. Finally had them disconnect their service and went back to Dish. The first bill was incorrect; it has been almost a full year and I have never received a correct bill. Each conversation seems to be with a different person who promises to "fix" the problem. The next bill is incorrect. I'm so tired of these people I could scream. This month I tried to communicate via "live chat" but that was not successful. I asked for their local rep, and I was given the place to pay the bill in cash, in my case it is the local grocery store. That is how I discovered Dish Network has no storefront places of business, only telephone contact. When we had TV trouble a couple of months ago, we had to find somebody who knew somebody, who knew somebody to find a person who would fix that problem, and it cost us out of our pocket.
On my bill I find two telephone numbers: 888-337-3474 and 800-333-3474.
I would advise anyone to do without TV rather than try to work with these folks.. - Gerald Bernier| 3 repliesI think I may have compromised my security. I orderd Dish network and gave
them full social security number, something I never do, what are my options?- Caller: dish network
- dish1up replies to Gerald Bernier| 1 replyok people.....dish 1 up satelights is called this because we use to sell dish network and since moved to selling direct tv. we have hundreds of numbers and we can not be responsible for you not paying attention to what numebrs you dial. Furthermore....the words DIREct tv are said atleast 20 times over the phone....i suggest paying more attention on the phone if you have a problem with what ever happen.
- WhosFoolingWho??? replies to HELPING OUTDISH1UP is a SCAM!!!!!!!!! They misrepresent theirsevles over the phone thinking you called DISH Network....They get you social security number and credit card number and then they tell you they are a retailer for DirectTV....I was employeed by these people and they even tried to scam the new employees and it did not work. They do no background check on the people they hire and the consumer is just giving out all types of information to these people over the phone. Then you want to know why someone jacked your credit up or why someone broke into your home. This company needs to be stopped. They also move quickly from place to place and only lease space for employees to work there and then when the employees come back to work and the doors are locked and there is no fowarding address and then the employees are left without pay and no job....scam
- WhoFoolingWho replies to dish1upThats some bull, you are misleading people from the start.Call yourself DirectTV not Dish1up. That is misrepsenting Dish.
