They are calling for Gold's Gym, to update credit card records for auto pay. They just called us, as our debit card we used at sign up expires in a couple of months. They just want to update the expiration date. I prefer to do it *at* the gym, so I just told them I'd do it there, versus give it to someone I don't know over the phone.

Just got a call from 888-827-9262 - Yup.  ABC Financial.  I'm glad I let it roll.  They didn't leave a message though - lucky for them, because I think my head would have exploded.

My husband and I were members of Gold's Gym - he since 2003 and me since 2004.  We have MORE than fulfilled our contractual obligation to them.  I no longer have the time (or the money) to maintain my membership so contacted them in December to cancel effective January 1st.  (When I made an inquiry last year, Gold's told me I had to go through ABC Financial and send them a certified letter telling them I wished to cancel my membership).  My first call in December was to ABC Financial telling them I was cancelling.  My second call was to my bank to tell them not to authorize  any future charges from ABC Financial.  My third call was to Gold's.  This time they told me I had to send THEM (not ABC) a certified letter to cancel.  I told them I wanted to talk to the person in charge of member services.  She was at a different location and I got a return call about 5 days later.  My husband (who is also cancelling his membership, and started the process about 2 months ahead of me) got the lucky lady on the phone.  He gave her an earful.  He then sent an e-mail to her expressing our immediate desire to cancel BOTH our memberships.  She replied saying she got them, and would call us if there was any trouble processing our requests.

That was the end of the first week of January.  Since then I'm being bombarded with e-mail from Gold's AND ABC, and now I get this call today.  I'm glad I called my bank and instructed them not to authorize ANY future charges from these buffoons.  While they keep referring people back and forth between them, they still take your hard-earned money.  It's a dispicable way to do business, and I'm "this close" to reporting them.  The past few days has felt like harassement from this guys, and I'm about at the end of my rope with this nonsense.

For anyone considering joining a local gym - ask who handles their member payments.  If they say ABC Financial - run like the wind.  Good luck to all of you experiencing problems - I hope they get resolved for you soon!

This is really pissing me off! After the required 2 year contract was up with Golds Gym I attempted to cancel my membership. Went through all the steps of getting a certified letter and mailing it to the gym. I had automatic mayment set up but went NSF one payment. They then canceled the withdrawls and continued to bill my account with out telling me. The gym called me and told me I owed them 400$ and would not close the account untill I paid it off. That day I went into the gym and paid it in cash and was assured this would be the last time I heard from them. 6 months later collections called and said I owe money for unpaid fees.....I jumped through all the hoops and got a print off of my account. I faxed it to the collector, called them and asked if this is over now. He said probably.......Now after a year of paying it off the calls started again. I lost my Sh#t on the guy. He told me the membership never got canceled and my account is still being billed. WTF. I called the gym and threatened them with the media. they told me they would take care of it. Got another computerized message today from the collectors. Grrrrr
    What do I do now?

We got a recorded message from 888-827-9262 stating that there was a problem with our credit card at Gold's Gym.  We immediately went to the gym and they said there is no problem, however, Gold's just switched to this new company, ABC Financial Services.  The gym said they are going to find out what is going on with our account, and they also admitted that since Gold's switched to them, they had received other complaints.  This company is 'phishing' for personal information and everyone should watch your credit card statements and do not give out any persnal information.  Why would Gold's Gym switch to this company when there are so many complaints on the internet.  They are going to lose members for the harrassment!

I get phone calls from this number and they tell me that they need to talk to me about my fitness club membership and to call them back they are trying to get money out of me for a club that never explained that you have 14 days from the day you sign up to cancel your membership and they lock you in for at least 24 months and require access to your bank account to retrieve the membership payment.  Everyone WATCH OUT for ANYTIME FITNESS they aren't a very good business if they do this in my opinion.  If you want someone to sign a contract you need to explain all the particulars to the consumer first.

    Boom
I never paid a cent to Gold's Gym. My father was the one who paid for the membership as we were under a family package. Yet, I just got these two ABC calls for the first time today on my cell phone.  We put our membership on hold for two months now.  I think it's too late to get my cell phone number out of Gold's Gym's computer. =__=   May a virus rot ABC Financial's system....

I'll be ignoring these phone calls for as long as they keep calling me (if they do so). I gave them a funny label in my cell phone. :D

SORRY NOT GIVING THAT replies to Mike
This company has not one thing to do with your gym. It is a scam and you will have to cancel your credit card ASAP or it will never end. Every month they tell you what you want to hear so they can get another month on credit card.
    Good luck

I received a couple of calls from this number.  I recently put a stop payment on my account with a local WORLD'S Gym because I've cancelled my membershipt but, they kept taking money out of my account.  I am sure the cancellation that I made in the local office never made it to this company that handles the Gym's accounts....Oh well!

I received a call (and hangup) from this number.  I looked it up on this site and decided to first call my gym (Kia Ora) to see if my account was in good standing.  They informed me that a payment had been declined and to contact ... yes, ABC financial at this number.  The lady at ABC was nice. I don't think they are Debt collectors. They are just the company that handles these businesses' financial stuff.  I simply needed to update my credit card number (my previous one had just been cancelled due to identity thief issues 2 weeks ago).

So I got a couple calls from this number.  It is because I have a membership with Anytime Fitness.  My withdrawal from my debit card was supposed to occur 2 days ago so I figured I better call back.  I called and the guy told me I am passed due. (from the withdrawal 2 days ago!!  They are already calling me!)  He said the withdrawal did not work.  He indicated it pulled from a card ending in **** with expiration date 09/2011.  I paused and reminded him that 09/2011 is last month. I inquired if he needed to update my expiration date and he told me he can update this if  I want.  ?  I asked him if this was the problem and he indicated that the error is general and does not give a reason. (of course its the problem I work in a billing department) So I had him update this and he had indicated earlier that there was a $19.50 fee applied because of this.  I asked him if he was going to take the fee off..  (as this was at no fault of my own) and he said because I have such a good payment history he will take it off.  ??  These people are crazy.  I swear.

Receive a call with no message.  Called number and got a rude burp.  Found this number attached to a charge on my bank statement for Vision Quest Gym.  I cancelled that membership in July and received my money.  Called the gym it is for a maintenance fee to which I should not have been charged.  Person who can authorize the refund of course is not available.  Question their business ethics and will be contacting BBB and attorney general for Wa if this is not removed.

That is so totally untrue.  You can only file a lien AFTER you take it to court and adjudicate th case.  A colelction agency just cannot unilaterally file a lieen.
