I got an email similar to what others report.  I can not tell whether it is a scam or just lousy customer service by Verizon, but I think it is the latter.  The people at Verizon want me to authenticate that I am who I am, but they are unable to authenticate that they are really Verizon, for example, by pointing to where on their web site the number is given out.  They are actually quite clueless that someone who suspects being hacked wants some authentication.   I got complaints about this not being a professional call, when all I wanted was the most minimal proof that the number in the email was truly verizon.

My hunch is that Verizon sent out the email for no good reason, but best not to call that number until Verizon posts it on their web site.  Yet calling them is a waste of your time.  Best to go into the account and change your security question and password.

They called three times yesterday, claiming to be Verizon, each time stating that a change was made to my account. These were prerecorded calls. One time said texting was added to the account, another time a password change, and another time an address change.

I receive up to 10-15 calls daily from this number...They don't speak and it's not a automated number, they just listen. I keep asking them to stop calling, however, they just continue. I am tired of this constant harassment.  This needs to stop...

go  online to Verizon, and select live chat .  I had an issue with my internet and was told   we may get disconnected  once    they  tried a hard  reset  to the modem,,  so I gave  them my   cell number, ( not  verizon phone )  the following day I  got this call  a number of times,  so back into live chat I went, asking  why the  hell I was getting this call  20  times .  once I  complained the calls stopped

I got 2 messages from this number saying that changes were recently made on my Verizon account. The changes were my security questions, and if I didn't change them (I didn't) to call them back. It sounded legit but I had a bad feeling about it so I looked up Verizon Customer Support on line and called them. I gave them the phone number on my voice message and they said it wasn't them and it was a scam. I'm so glad I checked this out!

I have received so many calls from this number claiming to be Verizon.  Verizon says it is NOT THEM, and it is a scam.  They will never call their customers asking for personal information.

I received two voicemails, one said that someone had changed my Verizon password, and the other that someone had changed my Verizon security questions. Both said to call 888-976-0259 if I had not been the one to make these changes. We had not made any changes since the six weeks that we have had Verizon, so I tried to get into the website using our current password and security question. They worked fine and I got in. I called the support number on the screen - 866-326-7937 to tell them about it. She was pleasant, and said that they did have a record of contacting us today. She said that maybe the server had an update and kicked out these calls (both messages sounded like robo-calls). She did not ask my password, only asked me to verify the security question answer. She would make a mention of it and have someone get back to us. So, unless someone has taken over the website, I don't think it is a scam, just computer issues on their end. I hope.
