- Sheila| 1 replyMy husband and I just got a text from 275-89 saying Verizon Home: Your Verizon password has been changed. If you didn't request this change, please call 1-888-976-0259. I'm the only one who makes changes and from what I'm reading here it is a scam. My account was fine. Ignore these low life losers.

- AJVERZON left me messages regarding changs to my account from this number. They stated name, address, my number etc was changed on their system. This is a legitamite number, however it depends on the call. VERIZON claims to use this only as an automated number. If I needed to call back, I was told to call back from the automated system 1800VERIZON. If a person is speaking to you on this line, then they are SPOOFING THE CALLER ID!!! Do not give info, this is verified by VERIZON, as an automated outgoing line only for the Automated system, if you make changes to your account. IE if you change your voice mail password with landline, or email password with FIOS or acct info with DSL, I receive calls from this number from time to time. HOWEVER I DID RECEIVE ONE CALL, that was NOT AUTHENTIC. The verizon tech stated "They must be spoofing our caller IDs again" AGAIN to summarize, this is a LEGIT number, but VERIZON WILL NEVER CALL YOU ASKING FOR INFORMATION. The only way I can verify security is they ask for a code. Everything Verizon does is automated, if you change your password they will send a text, an e-mail, a letter in the mail, etc. A HUMAN will never call asking for information, and a HUMAN will never call from this line either. This is obviously SPOOFING a LEGIT phone number.

- AJ replies to SheilaYou could have changed your acct info, even paying a bill differently like online, changing a password, security question, added an e-mail address, added an acct to another device, etc. Many things trigger this phone call and its normal. If its automated, and telling you something, it may be they even updated their security settings, even changing the way your name is listed on your e-mail software, entering a wrong password a couple of times by error. Verizon's system is so sensitive, it does this to let you know. I had changed my email account I send my bills to, and added a debit card to pay my bill online. I got the call about 10 hours later, the text, etc. ANY CHANGES to your account, going paperless, changing a debit card/credit card on your account, changing any service, and even calling tech support sometimes triggers these calls. Its to let the Account holder know for security reasons. Most of you out there , your accounts are fine, she is right. The Verizon tech that was at my house told me that the system calls for anything. If there is a closed work order, you will get the call. A new appointment, you get the call. If you hear a human on that number then its the caller ID getting spoofed. Thats the only SCAM, and yes it does exist. VERIZON WILL NEVER CALL YOU ASKING FOR INFORMATION. THEY WILL PROVIDE IT, BE UP FRONT, GIVE WORK ORDER NUMBERS, AND ACCOUNT NUMBER ON YOUR BILL WHICH IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER PLUS OTHER NUMBERS IN/AFTER THE BOX.
Be vigilant, its ok Verizon is very security oriented. It can be annoying. Better safe then sorry.
IF A HUMAN SPEAKS TO YOU ON THIS LINE, SAY I CAN SEE THE CALLER ID IS SPOOFED, they will hang up on you in a heart beat. Then you might get a call from AT&T next....Have a nice day - Boris PistoffGot a text message from this phone. I am not replying. I am sure it is a scam. My Verizon stuff is ok and obviously this is fraud.
- SmartIt's the Muslim hacker wannabe, I changed my router PW but got this call 1 hour after. I told Verizon and they said router could be infected. Because reinstalled windows8 didn't help. My Hotmail message showed up from cell/tablet but not the laptop, files from USB drive deleted itself and many weird stuffs went along, such as laptop shutdown but not the router when I tried to DL Windows Defender Offline, so Verizon sending me a new router. They might call or text you when they know you were updated security settings. If you call it back and their hack system able to trace you because the recorded message will trick you to press buttons on your keypad. The Muslims are radical and they are no where close to peace as long as their religion Islam is involved. Stay alert guys !

- BobGot text at 8:15 am saying my password and security questions were changed and to call (888) 976-0259 if I had not made these chages. I'd actually changed them days ago, so I called to see what was up. Got typical phone menu, chose username/password option (1). The support representative phished for information and claimed the text was just delivered late. She offered to verifly the account status, but instead of her giving me infirmation about when I made the changes, she actually asked me for the answers to my security questions. I informed her thst completely defeats the purpose of the security questions and told her I'd check the status of my account myself. Total phishing scam.
